I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
Atlantic Garages showed their true colors, when after they completed an unsatisfactory job, they avoided the customer This was after numerous attempts to make contact I find this unacceptable as a business in the *** area, where there are many reputable businesses that would have taken care of the customer When Ed Shanahan finally made contact, after going through all of this, he wanted me to pay for all of the materials needed to 'fix' his mistake I want it on file, that Atlantic Garages has a complaint against them-'buyer beware'
Regards,
*** ***

Revdex.com spoke to consumer who relayed the following on behalf of business: The contractor has resolved the issue

Mr*** is correct the garage slab is slightly off which created a partial overhang of the beamPartially due to his micro management of the project the job was not completed in standard fashionWhen this was brought to my attention Mr*** suggested that we add concrete around the patio
to make it largerI explained to him that it is not a structural issue and is not needed, but he wanted it for estheticsI agreed I would install approx24" around 3x sides of the existing patio if he paid for all material(I would labor the project for free.) That is our agreementFurthermore there was no time frame that I am aware of that it needed to be completed by or that we agreed onI did drive past Mr*** house the other week and explained to the employee in truck that we needed to do a "ribbon" on a patio thereHowever I did not see Mr*** truck in the drivewayWith that said I have no idea exactly what Mr*** is requiring? We had spoke about a 24" extension "slate" color His mind may have changed since we last spoke? I will require Mr*** to be home from the start of the project to the time it is completed with a signature that states he is satisfied with the work completedAlso to be paid in full for all materialsStone, steel, concrete, fuel, sealerI cannot do that without speaking to him priorAt this moment I am taking time to respond to a Revdex.com issue rather than handling the tasks at hand to resolve this issueRespectfully, Edward MShanahan

I have attended to Mr*** and his requestsI believe his "Desired Settlement" was "To have a concrete border poured around the perimeter of the patio, in order to alleviate the column support overhang." This was a gentlemen's agreement per a discussion after the structure was completed and paid in fullMr*** can put in multiple complaints about the same issue? I'm confused on what he is complaining about now? Furthermore he states my response is filled with "avoidance and accountability." Avoidance : "The act of avoiding something" What am I avoiding ? Accountability : "The quality or state of being accountable; especially : an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one's actions." Quote from Aug response (Atlantic) : "Mr*** is correct the garage slab is slightly off" Quote from 10/11/(*** ) : “First off, he admits to his error” Is this not being being accountable ? Micromanage : “ To try to control or manage all the small parts of (something, such as an activity) in a way that is usually not wanted or that causes problems.” Mr *** states 10/11/“ Observing the process, and questioning when I was concerned with the progress” I specifically recall Mr*** telling crew members where to move pins after the initial layout was completedDue to his house alignment with the property lines etcFurthermore I know he had the crew raise the grade considerably (causing need of more stone, labor, time, costs) from where it would normally be placedHe also asked for additional work to be performed (additional excavation for future drain tile) all of which was never charged forAll of these requests would be considered “Micromanagement” using the definition by designHe may of “observed” but did not question, he “dictated” what was to be doneOn 9/10/I spoke to Mr*** and had explained to him the reasoning why we had not completed what we discussed previously as a gentlemen's agreementMr*** has a very particular personality, furthermore he told my crew members and me how he would like the project completed originally when we did the projectWith that in mind I wanted to get written documentation on how exactly he would like the border installedSpecifics detailing color, type, size, re-enforcement etcDuring conversation I told him that I would email him everything that we discussed and that he would have to email me back to confirm everything before I would start the workThat email was sent 9/10/18:20hrs I had the secretary call Mr*** 9/23/at 08:to find out why he had not confirmed specifics on his projectHe informed her that he had somebody else complete the workI believe this complaint is frivolous I have responded the best that I can to accommodate Mr*** and his requests, my apologies for not meeting his standardsRespectfully, Edward MShanahan

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
This is a follow up to our telephone conversation of Friday, February 26 concerning complaint # [redacted] with Atlantic Garage. Yes, I did get the Certificate of Occupancy for the garage at [redacted] Rd, but it did not result from any effort on behalf of the business in question.  As you know, they adamantly refused to take care of the items the [redacted] code enforcement officer at the time, [redacted], brought to their attention in his email of Jan, 2015. My husband’s friend came and took care of the “unfinished business” and I worked with the town to secure the permit .   Atlantic didn’t care enough to make things right after I wrote to the Revdex.com and the Attorney General. You already have all the background information on the original complaint.  That complaint had two parts.  First, the fact that Atlantic Garage failed to construct the garage in accordance with the exact plans submitted to the town, and second, I had the owner Ed Shanahan’s word in his email of Dec 2014 ( after receiving final payment of course)  that he would take care of any outstanding issues with the final inspection.  The business said they would do so, and I waited and waited, and finally called and said I would proceed with the complaint if they did not address the oversights in 5 business days.   In fact, Atlantic Garage brazenly told the office of the Attorney General that they would not do anything unless I withdrew my uncalled for and unnecessary complaint.  Well, they did nothing before the complaint so why would I think they would take any action afterward? I couldn’t figure out why suddenly this matter resurfaced, but it all made sense after speaking with you.  With the “unresolved complaint” on the books,  Atlantic cannot be an accredited business.  I will also fill in the blanks about how this reputable business obtained the Certificate of Occupancy.  Of course, after I spoke to you I immediately called the [redacted] town hall and spoke with [redacted], one of the clerks who had assisted me with the permit and the aftermath.  I asked her if she had very recently been contacted by Carol from Atlantic Garage and supplied her with a copy of our Certificate.  I also asked  if the town was in the habit of freely disbursing copies of Certificates of Occupancy to other than homeowners for whatever reason.  She advised that occasionally builders like [redacted] Homes etc. would request them and of course Atlantic was the contractor who applied for the original permit. [redacted] said that Carol told her the “homeowner was very angry and upset that we had never received the certificate “ and asked for  a copy of the same document.  I said that should have struck her as odd since she and I spoke about the certificate on several occasions and I even received two copies of it because the first one had the incorrect address on it.  [redacted] said she did think it was strange but proceeded to give Atlantic Garage a copy anyway.   She assured me she would bring this incident to the attention of the building department and the town. So everything falls into place.  In their somewhat desperate quest to restore their accreditation with the Revdex.com, Carol, Ed’s assistant,  decided to give it a shot calling the town to get an “update” and when she lied to the clerk that we were angry because we hadn’t received the certificate, she was probably delighted to hear that we had received it in June. Problem solved! If only Atlantic had expended half as much energy in taking care of the small matters in the first place, none of this would have happened.  What kind of  business has to lie and use deceitful means to get paperwork that they could have easily helped me secure in the first place?  OR if they were really too busy getting on with the new season’s work , how about some type of offer to make things right, a small refund or something or subcontracting the work out?  They are very good at that. Ed could have sent a man or two out to take care of the construction issues without hampering new business in anyway.  Instead, they have been passing the buck ever since, blaming the building inspector, the town, the weather, the homeowner, etc.  I do not agree that the complaint is resolved when I as the homeowner had to take matters into my own hands to get the Certificate.   I want to believe that the Revdex.com accredits businesses that stand behind their work, answer their customers’ needs in a timely and courteous manner, and perform the work that is put on paper.  That is your area of expertise.   I have the certificate, but they did not lift a finger to help me and lied in pursuit of it. Sincerely, [redacted]

Business provided Revdex.com with copy of Certificate of Occupancy issued by the Town of [redacted]. Please see attached.

Dear Sir or Madam, Regarding complaint made by [redacted] regarding her garage: Yes [redacted] did sign a contract in April. There was some discussion on location of garage and the current plans. 7/31/2014 I picked up new plans from [redacted] workplace. 8/6/2014 brought her new plans to take out to...

the building inspector. 8/25/2014 Inspector requested new drawings for garage with more details. 8/29/2014 delivered new plans to [redacted]. 9/8/2014 finally got a permit. 9/13/2014 [redacted] texted me saying the trees were removed and she was going to schedule stump grinding. During this time period we had many days with rain as we could not pour concrete (if requested I will list the dates of rain). And we had also subcontracted another concrete company for garage pad jobs as with the wet summer we were behind. The other concrete company was also behind again due to weather conditions so we tried another concrete company and yes same results they were behind also. During this time through texts with [redacted] I made her aware of these issues Inspector is part time which also had to play into the equation. 10/20/2014 [redacted] texted me that she was going to file a formal complaint. 10/29/2014 garage pad is poured- which we let sit for about 2 weeks before we build garage. 11/13/2014 started garage build until the snow got so bad they had to leave early. 11/14/2014 garage complete/ except door which was put on November 27, 2014. To summarize above in my opinion there were many factors involved in this. The time it took to agree on placement of garage and to get a drawing that was acceptable to inspector. If requested I will print the hundreds of texts [redacted] and I exchanged during this process. Weather was a big factor in pouring the garage pad as many concrete companies were racing to complete projects. As far as Ed S (president of 3 companies) not having the time to handle these things I have to say I am hurt after how hard I worked to please [redacted] as he hired me to work with clients to address their concerns and issues. We told [redacted] her concerns would be addressed this spring. We will not address until she rescinds the false accusation of us not completing the job in our stated time frame (spring). These false accusations have taken up a lot of our time which has put other jobs and hers behind schedule. Instead of helping with a solution she has created a problem that had to be addressed. Sincerely, Carol Z. Office Manager
