Green Star Heating and Cooling Reviews (3)

I have a complain with this Heating & Cooling Service company. The reason being is that my brother rents a house on [redacted]. Around 1/2014 I called Greenstar Heating & Cooling company, the guy came out and diagnosed that it was the Control board. So, I told him to go ahead and get part from the supplier; and fix it so he did. But, this year, we are having the same problem; the control board went out. The reason, I know this is because when I call to have Greenstar come back, the guy that did work acted as if he was so busy, and he could not come til the next week. I could not wait for him; so I had another guy to check it for me. And he said it was a problem with the control board. I call Greenstar today and asked him if he replace the board, he stated that he did and only 30 day warranty. I told him to give me the name of the supplier he got the part from back in Jan 2014; but he would not give it to me. He wanted to charge me again for work he did not do the first time. So, I hung up the phone and this is where my complaint is with them, did not honor his service. SCAMMED!!Desired SettlementSince the control board went out, and it did not last a year. I feel that he either put an old part back in there or either he did not do the work.Business Response Ms [redacted] brother had an HVAC system installed in his house on [redacted] by his friend who did not pull permits for the job and installed the wrong size HVAC system and wires. We have explained this to her and her brother. It is actually illegal to install the HVAC equipment or do the wiring without pulling permits. The friend couldn't pull these permits because he does not have a state license. It was explained to Ms.[redacted] this unit will continue fail and have problems until they have the job installed correctly by professionals. The Friend who did the work will not come back and work for them so keep that in mind as you read this response to her complaint. We have THOUSANDS of satisfied customers in Johnston county. Consumer Response Everything this guy is saying is s lie. First of all my brother did not have a friend to install this HVAC unit. It was installed by same company who did contractual work for Town of Selma.I have all papepaperwork. I will locate and send to your organization. He is a SCAMMER. This guy supposedly replace a control board last; I feel he either never replaced it or either put and old board back. I ask what supplier he got if from. He told me " he only could give this info to s licensed HVAC person. I gonna get documents 2 u in next 2-3 days

Company called to diagnose issue with HVAC...warm air coming out of vents when set to COOL. Missed several common causes, causing high elec. bill.Green Star Heating & Cooling was called in late July to diagnose a problem with warm air coming out of vents even when system set to "Cool". Fan was always on and seemed to be working very hard to keep home cool. Explained the issue when 2 service technicians (one I believe was the owner) arrived. I left them with access to the air handler, and both external systems. I checked on their progress several times inquiring on status each time. They explained that the external fan/compressor units were "dirty" and that the reduced air flow was hindering the cooling process. They would clean the fans for $75. The proceeded to complete that, then they checked the coolant levels. The noticed that coolant was also low, so added coolant to both units (although only 1 unit was having issues)...another $79. No review/checking of the thermostat (common issue) or the boards/fuses in the air-handler (another common issue) were even done. They stopped at the first "potential" problem they found, and did no further evaluation. Had they done some basic troubleshooting (I found this out quite easily afterwards, by doing a simple Google search online), they would have seen that a breaker/fuse (a $7 part) within the air-handler had gone bad, and as a result, it locked the emergency heat strips and fan blower on 100% of the time. When they left, they said that the cleaning of the outside unit should "shave $20/month off of your bill". So I waited the next 2 months to see if there was any change in my bill, and to my shock, my bill had skyrocketed up to $2000 (normally around $300)! What was happening was the heat strips and the blower were on 24x7 and fighting against the cooling system to lower the temperature in the house...it had to work so hard to stay cool, and the emergency heat strips use SO MUCH extra energy anyway, that having them on all the time took a toll on the electrical usage. I called the company back and had them come out again to fix what I though the issue was (google search, remember), and when that was confirmed, I spoke directly to the owner, stating that I think the lack of a full diagnostic that I previously paid for puts some responsibility on them for the cost incurred. I asked that he pay for a portion of the bill, since a reasonably comprehensive diagnostic would have prevented the entire $2000 bill. The owner told me "No, I'm not going to do that...I suggest you find someone else to do the work...have a blessed day"...and he then just left. I still had no working system. I did some more online research, found the other $60 part I needed and fixed it myself. I didn't even get a "sorry, we messed that up", or "yes, we should have caught that last time"...nothing. No company admission of responsibility for poor service/diagnostic of my system that more that tripled my bill./////Desired SettlementWould like company to pay for one month of exceptionally high electric bill, due to their neglect in diagnosing a well known cause of issue they were called in to fix. $1000 payment toward $2000 electric bill incurred due to the missed diagnosis./////

$2000 power bill! Wow… Sometimes homeowners tend to stretch the truth… Seems to be the case here
