our Director of Product Development and our factory in China the issues you encountered. According to our research, the sparking comment is something that we have done significant research on. Our power adaptors are all Underwriters Laboratory (U/L) approved which means U/L has tested and examined the factory’s adaptors and process in which they are made.  You can look at your adaptor and see the markings on it.  Any electrical device that has two prongs (without ground) will “spark” from your iPhone to a toaster and the reason is explained in the research below.  The “sparks” magnitude is dependent upon the actual condition of the electric outlet. The “spark” is quite normal and yet alarming to some.  The “fire” possibility from the spark which you commented on is indicative of poor electrical outlets in the home – it also could be an indication that the you could have a short circuit in your home. From our research: What causes an electrical outlet to spark? The power in outletsIn the United States, the power running through outlets is fast and hot. It should easily flow through the available circuits in your home and back out to the main grid without being interrupted. The outlets in your home use this fast-moving current to provide you with the power you need. When an appliance is plugged in, some of the power moves into the appliance to be used.Normal sparksWhen that power is suddenly diverted to an appliance, there will be a quick draw on the available power, causing a brief spark. Once the electrons are flowing freely, there should be no reason for a spark to form. This is normal, and it’s comparable to static electricity.Short circuitsIf too much heat builds up in an outlet, it can actually melt the insulation that surrounds the wires. As the wires become exposed, the chance for an electrical fire increases. When a connection is made, the electrons can leap to the wrong area and cause a serious spark. This is known as a short circuit and can actually cause an electrical fire. This is based on the outlet and not the appliance.AgeOutlets gradually wear out over time. As the years pass, the connections will gradually loosen, increasing the chances that a short circuit will occur and could start a fire. Appliance cords that are old and worn can also cause an outlet to spark. Results: All Greenair oil diffusers go through rigid, independent testing and internal testing before being released into the US and Canadian Wholesale markets to insure that they pass electrical safety usage.Attached is Greenair’s SpaVapor+ Test Report and Confirmation Letter from our independent lab. These independent tests and confirmations are part of our quality and safety control procedures required before we are able to offer a product to our wholesale clients for resale. These reports confirm that the materials used are designed for consumer safety on many levels.CONCLUSION:   Greenair’s SpaVapor+ has a built in automatic shut off feature to protect the ceramic disc, save on power and add convenience to usage. Unfortunately we do not have your damaged SpaVapor+ to analyze. therfore  we are unable to exactly determine why yours began to malfunction. However, from your phone conversation with Greenair’s Customer Service Supervisor, you stated that the power buttons no longer functioned which indicates that the PCB was in the process of shutting down as designed. As to your diffuser issues, from our past experience we have evidence that when water is added from a sink faucet and not from a measuring cup (as directed) the possibility that water flowed into the base causing the damage is the most likely cause. This is why the "Operating Instructions” included with the product specify using "your own cup" to measure and fill the diffuser. To date, Greenair has manufactured and sold over 4 million diffusers since 2010 and have not had one instance of them causing a fire. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance. Please note that our offer to replace your damaged product with a diffuser of your choice is still open. contact Elizabeth B[redacted], Greenair's Customer Service Supervisor eb[redacted]@newgreenair.com. Thank you for bringing your problem and concerns to our attention.Paulette K[redacted]Executive VP/Marketingpk[redacted]@newgreenair.comwww.newgreenair.com
