Revdex.com and customer,I do honestly regret the experience that this customer had
at our establishment. There really is no excuse on my part, I know.
In consideration of “business good faith” let me explain
what went wrong with this transaction. Because it is a number of things that
resulted in this “ill will” towards The Palms Dry Cleaners.
  First, the
Customer Sales Representative, that received the valance when it was first
brought to our store, was still in training. This means that the customer was
not properly informed about the risks of processing this type of job. Our
standard policy regarding draperies of this sort, is to explain potential
risks, that are mentioned and listed on a prepared “release of responsibility
form”, and get a signature from the customer once they understand. We truly do
our very best at foreseeing potential problems. But the new hire was just not up to speed on that.
  Second,
another long time policy of The Palms Dry Cleaners is to not charge for
anything that is returned to the customer that cannot be used buy the customer.
That is not to say that dry cleaning is a guarantee. There are NO guarantees in
dry cleaning because of too many variables that have effects on fabrics,
construction, dyes, designs or stains that are not recognizable. These
unforeseen variables can cause an item to fail in the cleaning process with no
indication to the cleaner. The fact is, that not everything is dry cleanable.
The dry cleaner cannot be responsible for items that are unserviceable
especially if the manufacturers instructions are not correct. I have included a
piece of literature as an attachment from the Dry Cleaning and Laundering Institute, DLI, which
helps to explain the problems we face daily.
   Third, I
apologize for not being able to convey these facts properly to my customer at
the time. I have already made out a reimbursement check for our charges and
sent to the customer. I believe if they want to be reimbursed for the cost of a
new valance that it is the responsibility of the manufacturer.
