Materials payment given on 3/6/2013 ($4000)

Work began on 3/8/2013

Commencement payment given on 3/9/2013 (3,262)

Verbally verified that final payment would not be expected until the contract was complete which was defined as installation of custom security gate. Designer agreed.

Primary work completed 5/2013

During work Designer observed around 5/2013 that the paint one of the new screens was chipping to took it and stated he would get them replaced by the company

Custom gate fabrication was taking longer than expected and was NOT installed.

Final scheduled payment of $968.55 was held until security gate was installed.

I was never contacted by them for any updates regarding the security gate past 6/2013. Security gate never installed.

8/31/2013 I received a vague L&I letter assumed it was regarding work completed by Greensaw.

9/10/2013 email from Designer stating that L&I issue not related to their work (this is accurate and a separate issue)

9/19/2013 received email from Greensaw stating the following:

I also wanted to write you as A. and owner were going over the finances and noticed the open balance on your job. I apologize for the delay in things. There were some delays in dealing with the gate manufacturer and then with the shop move the final item, the security gate, slipped through the cracks. I truly do feel sorry for this, especially since we had some delays at the start of your project as well. I've worked out the numbers below based on the outstanding invoices and what we had in the contract for the gate materials and labor.

Outstanding Invoices:

- Final 10% payment = $968.30

- Light fixture addition = $226

- Total = $1,194.30

Gate materials and labor:

- Gate materials and labor = $628

Total minus Gate = $566.30

I think at this point it's probably easiest and best to just close out the contract minus the security gate work. Sorry again for the delay in all of this. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Designer

I replied on 9/19/2013 That's fine it will take me a week or two to send you your payment.

Followed by another email the same day 9/19/2013 Our front door or the paint on our front door doesn't seem to be holding up, which is disappointing given that it is less than six months old. Do you have any suggestions to preserve this door?

Did the door or paint have a warranty?.

I decided to with hold any further payment until this issue was resolved (their history with us is to delay work despite receiving payment).

10/8/2013 received the following email from Designer:

Hey,

The owner went over today to look at the door issue. No one was home, but he was able to get a look at what was happening from the exterior. He wasn't able to come up with a quick solution on the spot, so he wants to think it over and come up with a way to fix the door. This may be something that takes a bit of time to come up with and work into our schedule, but I will keep you updated with any progress.

Thanks,

Designer

No work was completed. No follow up by Greensaw.

I emailed Designer and Owner on 11/17/2013

Just want to touch base with you regarding fixing the door. I realize this is probably a busy time for you nevertheless we are concerned given that the weather will be getting more severe and colder in the coming months and we would like a solution for the door which began to show wear less than six months from installation. There is also a gap between the door and the door jam on the lower corner (it is easily seen) now that it is getting colder it is cause for concern since it does allow air flow (which will likely increase our energy costs).

Sorry almost forgot, I also believe you still have the screen for our upstairs windows.

No response from either person.

the door swelling from water entering the wood. To fix the problems with the door the

existing door needs to be replaced with properly cut and sealed wood door.

Adjust door jamb so that it is plumb.

Purchase a 2'-6" x 6'-8" wood stave door.

Plane and cut door to fit into jamb with ?" gap around entire door

Mortise door for three hinges

Leave existing door in place temporarily while new door is waterproofed (Thompson's

Waterseal) and painted (oil based primer and MAB Seashore exterior paint)

Once the new door has been sealed from the weather exchange it with the old door

Bore holes for knobset and deadlock matching the existing keepers

Install existing locks

Install door bottom to deflect rainwater

Install doorknocker and peephole

Labor and Materials 3,400.00

Tax on labor and materials 0.00

Total $3,400.00

**I have deleted names or replaced names with the words owner and designer to comply with Revdex.com websiteDesired Settlement: I would like Greensaw to pay/refund me to have my poorly made incorrectly cut and fitted front door to be replaced and installed by another contractor of my choosing.

Also I want them to drop the remaining balance they requested 9/19/2013 as the intial contract states they would receive final payment when security gate was installed (it was never installed and their work was extremely delayed and never fully completed to satisfaction).
