Greentec Auto Reviews (64)

I am rejecting this response because:Unfortunately their story is not actually the way that it happenedI let them know about the issue with this pedometer before I even left there parking lot at the same times I told them about the oil lightThey never told me what the issue was I had to go to the [redacted] dealership to find out when it actually failedHowever I am willing to accept their offer to pay for the repairThe repair was completed at another hybrid specialist in Rancho CordovaI can provide them with the invoice so that they can cover the paymentThe total amount is $ As soon as they tender payment for the repair I would be happy to remove any negative but truthful reviews that I have posted onlineNothing that I have posted has been slander But I am willing to remove it all if they are willing to do as they stated and pay for the repairPlease have them advise me on how to submit a copy of the invoice to them

I am rejecting this response because: The battery failed after monthsYes, the warranty was for months and they replaced itThe replacement took a well because the first replacement battery they built had a bad cell just as my original defective battery hadThe construction of these batteries seems sub parIf it is warranted for months it should surely last at least thatProducts should last long after the warrantyI asked for the month warranty to be applied to the replacement battery as I have lost trust in this company's quality controlsThey refused and told me only the remainder of the original month warranty would apply

I am rejecting this response because: I am also a little disappointed that the business does not make it clearer that you are getting a used battery with only the bad cells replaced. As the responder states all batteries will fail its only a matter of time. So there will surely be more cells to fail, hopefully during this warranty, but probably right after. One would think that a "Completely remanufactured and tested" battery has all remanufactured cells in it. Not just the ones which were bad. This advertising is deceptive and leads the buyer to believe they are getting a battery with all remanufactured cells in like new condition......not just the bad one or ones! [redacted] Prius (2001 – 2003) Rebuilt with Remanufactured 2nd Generation Cells

[redacted] has bought a used Prius that is 11 years old, she has come to us for an inspection on the car before she could go on a long road trip. She asked us to change the oil and look over all the mechanical things that need to be inspected. During the inspection Greentec Auto has found that her...

brakes have been at 10% and needed to be changed. The maintenance  light was blinking as an indicator that an oil change will be coming up soon. When her car was parked outside she informed us that the light is still on. One of our technicians reset the light for the oil.In order to rest the oil light the speedometer needs to be set on the miles not on a trip. The button for Trip and switching from MPH and Kilometers are right next to each other. This button was pushed by mistake, which caused the car to be in KPH mode not MPH.As stated [redacted] has been the owner of this 11 year old Prius for only a few weeks. After she left Greentec Auto the speedometer went out. She called and notified us about the problem, I informed her that it was a common problem with [redacted]s and [redacted] has a 10 year unlimted mile recall on this problem. Greentec had nothing to do with the electrical portion of the speedometer going out in the car.In her statement [redacted] stated that her car was on KPH when she left the Greentec Auto location. This meaning the part was functional when she left. The next week she had the electrical issue with her Prius. Greentec Auto will pay for the repairs to the car if [redacted] agrees to remove the slanders she put up across all review sights.

Check was received and processed.   Reviews removed.  Still horrible customer service and shady practices.  And cost me a lot more.  But oh well.

My company replaced the battery under warranty at no cost to the customer. Our policy states that our warranty does not restart but continues from the original purchase date. Greentec stood behind the warranty it offered and replaced the battery. All batteries will fail its just a matter of when they will fail.   The Honda battery has 120 cells, if 1 of the 120 cells goes bad or the voltage drops lower then the rest, it will register as the battery has gone bad. Since the first battery has been bought, Greentec has changed the way it test batteries to catch any that do not meet the standard. The 18 month battery is a rebuilt battery not a new cell battery. The cells in the battery have been used before.-- [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:Unfortunately their story is not actually the way that it happened. I let them know about the issue with this pedometer before I even left there parking lot at the same times I told them about the oil light. They never told me what the issue was I had to go to the [redacted] dealership to find out when it actually failed. However I am willing to accept their offer to pay for the repair. The repair was completed at another hybrid specialist in Rancho Cordova. I can provide them with the invoice so that they can cover the payment. The total amount is $350.  As soon as they tender payment for the repair I would be happy to remove any negative but truthful reviews that I have posted online. Nothing that I have posted has been slander.  But I am willing to remove it all if they are willing to do as they stated and pay for the repair. Please have them advise me on how to submit a copy of the invoice to them

I am rejecting this response because: The battery...

failed after 11 months. Yes, the warranty was for 18 months and they replaced it. The replacement took a well because the first replacement battery they built had a bad cell just as my original defective battery had. The construction of these batteries seems sub par. If it is warranted for 18 months it should surely last at least that. Products should last long after the warranty. I asked for the 18 month warranty to be applied to the replacement battery as I have lost trust in this company's quality controls. They refused and told me only the remainder of the original 18 month warranty would apply.

Business states that check #[redacted] for $350 was sent out on July 26th.

The battery is a rebuilt as stated on the website. The replacement battery was sent out and the full refund of the $1000 core was refunded as stated when called. The $1000 core deposit was refunded on the 10th of December.

Review: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

I bought a used Prius 2 weeks ago. I took it to this place to have an inspection performed along with an oil change. I picked up the car - they told me that it just needed some front brakes.

When I went to leave, my display would not come on AND my "Maintenance" light was still flashing. I played with the settings and the display came back on, but I told the manger about it when I had to go back in to have them reset the maintenance light (side note: he then told me the maintenance light flashing was ok, as long as it did not stay on. Which is false. It indicates needing an oil change - how did an expert not know that?) He acted surprised and said they did not touch anything that would affect the display.

I left and then noticed that my display was now in kilometers per hour instead of MPH - so much for their lie that they had not done anything to the display!

I left for my trip and my display went out. Not only that, the car would not turn off and the key would not come out.

I had to stop at the Toyota dealership where they told me this was a warranty issue known to happen with Priuses but I was outside of the warranty time frame and they would not fix it.

I contacted GreenTec and spoke with [redacted] at corporate. He stated that they would NEVER do anything to damage my vehicle - But let's investigate the odds. My car is a 2005. It is 2016. That is 11 years. 4015 days. 96360 hours. Out of nearly 100k hours - it goes out during THE HOUR that they happen to be working on my vehicle? The odds? 0.00001

Pretty damn near magical! Especially considering they already lied to me about my display being messed with.

NEXT - corporate contacted this location and they arranged to do the repair work for $350. So I dropped off my vehicle, with trepidation but hoping for the best.

When I called in and told [redacted] that I was upset that I paid for an inspection that, at the least, failed to check for this known major issue - she stated, and I quote, "We did the best we could. It kept turning on and off. We didn't know what it was doing". YET THEY NEVER MENTIONED IT TO ME WHEN I PAID AND PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE SAFETY INSPECTION! They were going to let me drive out of state WITH MY CHILDREN in a vehicle they KNEW WAS NOT SAFE!

After ALL OF THAT - they now are refusing to fix it at all. [redacted] called me - confused - and didn't know what was going on, but that someone said they couldn't fix it because the remote has to be reprogrammed or something and she didn't know who what when where or why - just that I wasted another day driving a [redacted]GEROUS vehicle to leave it there for them to fix, which they had AGREED TO - and now they won't do anything.

I called corporate. Someone is SUPPOSED to call me back.

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE - at worst, they will sabotage your vehicle. At BEST they will negligently allow you to drive away ignorant of the fact that your vehicle is in [redacted]GEROUS condition - and then lie to you repeatedly and waste your time.Desired Settlement: I can get the work discounted at Roseville Toyota for $600. I want the "shop" to pay 1/2 of the repair (Aprox $300).

This is an update of a previous review. After emailing the company, they credited me for the "core charge" less $135 for shipping. They say that they will deduct for shipping, but this seemed high to me. I got a quote from their shipper for $58.31 for the shipment. I advised the company of this and they credited me for the difference.

My suggestion would be for people buying batteries to prepay their return shipment, so that there should be no delay in receiving the core charge credit and no dispute about the return shipping amount.

Greentec provides a great service for people whose hybrid auto batteries have given out. The cost is considerably less than the cost from the manufacturer. You pay for a battery plus a $500 "core charge," and they ship a battery to put in your car. You must return your old battery to them so they can rebuild it and sell it to someone else. The cost of your return shipping is deducted from the core charge.

Unfortunately, they don't explain unless you ask that they don't refund the core charge for up to four weeks. They say they don't know what the shipping charge for your battery is until then.

This seems like a very long time for each buyer to loan them $500.

I have known the President and Vice President of Green Tec. Auto for a very long time and I can honestly say that they are very stand up guys. They have always helped me in every way possible in the most timely and efficient way. There is not been one thing I have asked these guys for and they haven't been able to help me with. I have seen the hard work they constantly put in and I can honestly say the offer the best customer service I have ever seen. They are not only a A+ company but A++ in leadership and company management. They have always exceeded my expectations and treated me like family. I will be using there business for the rest of my life, no other company in the automotive industry can offer the total product that they do.

My Wife and I own a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid that we purchased used several years ago. Once our Hybrid Battery went out we searched all the options available to get it replaced. After all was said and done we chose Greentec Auto. I made one phone call to customer service and gave them the information about the car and within 5 minutes I received a quote. We decided to have the install done at our home. We could not have wished for a better company to do business with. From the first phone call for the quote to the install, [redacted] at customer service kept me in the loop. There were some hick-ups along the way but only due to Mother Nature. Due to some bad winter weather the shipment was delayed. That didn’t stop [redacted]. She promptly ordered another battery overnight and had it shipped using another courier. To no avail the weather would not give up and neither did [redacted]. Once she received the shipment she had a driver ready to drive to our residence to install. The driver made it a couple of miles and had to turn back due to the weather. [redacted] called us right away to update us and rescheduled our appointment. To make a long story short this company is not lacking in customer service. My wife and I couldn’t be happier customers and the performance of the new battery is definitely noticeable as is the gas mileage. I would highly recommend Greentec Auto to anyone considering a new Hybrid battery. Their prices and customer service sold us.

Review: Administrative practices that have been dishonest and reasons for shorting a refund change frequently.

I ordered replacement battery in Feb 2013. Greentec offers $500 refund for the original core upon return. I held onto the core because I didn't have the money to ship it back. The replacement went bad in May 2013 and the warranty service techs came and installed 2nd replacement. They took the original core and the 1st replacement back to their CA office and said that I wouldn't have to pay shipping on the original core and would receive the full $500 refund. THIS IS WHERE IT GOES BAD. It is over 4 months later and I received a check for $339.41 which is $160.59 of the promised $500. I received this after calling on 5 separate occassions and being told that the full $500 would be sent out. I explained to her that it was hand delivered. She transferred me and I was told that it was due to a penalty for not delivering it back to them within 45 days of purchase which is not laid out on their site. Their site does say that they will apply any shipping charges to the $500 refund and send payment within 45 days after they receive the core. I did not incur any shipping charges as it was hand delivered. She also tried to tell me it was charges for them having to come and pick it up. This was not the case since the install crew was already in town on their route for other installs. The story has changed several times. I told her that some of the things she was saying aren't true and she got mad at me, told me that she isn't a liar and HUNG UP ON ME. I hope that Greentec will do the right thing and live up to what they promised me on 5 separate phone calls and send the balance of the $500 ASAP.Desired Settlement: the balance of the $500 needs to be issued to me ASAP. That amount is $160.59. This has been going on over four months now.

Initial Business Response

Please be advised that Greentec Auto supplies all customer with prepaid return shipping labels, so we're unclear why Mr. [redacted] was unable to return his battery.

It is important to us to receive the cores back (that's why we provide prepaid return labels). Because we were having difficulty getting Mr. [redacted] we asked our people to pick the battery up when in the area. Our employees time and transportation is not free.

We have a policy that states all cores must be returned within 45 days. Mr. [redacted] purchased his battery in February 2013. We picked up the old core from him finally in June 2013 and graciously refunded him the standard core deposit refund, less the standard return shipping cost, although the customer was clearly outside the parameters for return refund.

Since that time, because Greentec Auto values their reputation and customer service level, we have sent Mr. [redacted] a written letter of apology and explanations, along with another check for $160.59 for his misunderstanding.

We have been informed by Mr. [redacted] that his is satisfied with this resolution.

Final Consumer Response

the business owner has resolved this concern to my satisfaction. this complaint can be closed.

Review: 1. The battery was warranteed for 18 months. It lasted 11 months. When I contacted Greentec they were very pleasant and said they would send a replacement right out. The battery took over a week to be sent out as the first battery they rebuilt had a bad cell...just like the one I am returning.

2. The replacement battery isn't warranteed for 18 months like the original so I could have the same problem sooner than 18 months and I am out over $2000 for a battery that lasted only 18 months.

3. I returned the battery on Monday, December 7th, and they have yet to refund the $1000 deposit to my credit card. I called and they stated they do refunds once a week instead of when the battery is returned. In other words they get their money immediately when I needed them to replace a faulty battery...but, they give my money back to me when they want to.Desired Settlement: I would like a 18 month warranty on the replacement battery. The first battery lasted 11 months. The initial replacement battery didn't even make it out of the warehouse. Who knows how long this one will last.

Business

Response:

The battery is a rebuilt as stated on the website. The replacement battery was sent out and the full refund of the $1000 core was refunded as stated when called. The $1000 core deposit was refunded on the 10th of December.

Review: I am writing to inform you that on June 11, 2013 I sent payment for an auto part that was delivered to me. I have made several attempts to contact management or get refund but have had no success.

This company advertised that they specialize in Prious Battery serviceDesired Settlement: I am seeking complete refund of payment.
