Complaint Information:
text-align: left;" valign="top"> Ms. [redacted] came to our service center on 14apr2015 & 01sept2015. For a open (ZE7) Warranty enhancement concerning oil consumption with her 2007 Rav-4. Toyota came out with this enhancement as a goodwill loyalty repair. As stated in question and answer section of the enhancement. Answer #4 states. If your vehicle has oil leaks when the test is requested, they will need to be addressed before the oil consumption test can be initiated. The cost to cover theses repairs would be the customer responsibility. If needed customer can call or stop by. We will make a copy of the enhancement guidelines for them to have.

Response: I explained to the customer that contracts are only refundable only during the time of the contract being active. The refund would b e the unused time or...

miles. No refunds are given after the contract has ended. Only way I could assist is there was something in writing. Customer stated she had nothing. I will forward concern to general manager to discuss with sales the importance of them clearly explaining the extended warranties and insurance we provide. I received my vehicle back from Toyota and they resolved the problem after many weeks and much discussion. Thank you for you time and efforts.    [redacted]

Review: My husband and I stopped in 2 weeks ago to look at a [redacted]. We met with [redacted], who was very friendly, and decided that we really liked the base L model. [redacted], like every other dealership associate, kept nudging us to place a "hold" on the vehicle before leaving so that it wouldn't be sold to someone else in the meantime. We relented and placed the $500 holding fee down on the car, which [redacted] assured us was fully refundable if we chose not to move forward with the purchase.

After moving forward with the preliminary paperwork for the car, another dealership that I had recently visited called and offered to match Greentree's price on the next model up, which was too great of a deal to miss. When I called Greentree to cancel the deal, they were not so friendly anymore. [redacted], the finance manager, actually begged me to stay with them, repeatedly telling me that the other dealership was lying to me and that I was making a mistake. He even demanded "proof" of the deal I was offered by the other dealership, which I denied to provide because it was honestly none of his business. When I asked [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted] for the $500 holding fee refund, they all said that it was no problem. After 3 business days, it was still not refunded, so I called again. No one got back to me. After 5 business days, I called and spoke with the general manager who claimed to have no knowledge of the matter, but he took my credit card number to refund the money. The next day(today), after numerous phone calls to follow up, the general manager emailed and stated that they would not be providing a refund.

Even the other [redacted] dealership that I purchased the be the new [redacted] from stated that the initial "holding fee" of $500 is a standard dealership practice, but that it is fully refundable or can be applied towards the purchase price. We are doing whatever we have to do now to fight this dishonest dealership and their shady business practices. Consumers are not targets.Desired Settlement: Full refund

Review: I brought my vehicle in to Toyota before NYE to get fixed and it took them 5 weeks to fix the problem which was estimated to take only 5 business days. They never contacted me to let me know what was going on, I had to call them multiple times. While my car was at Toyota they dented the front bumper and cracked the headlight and were trying to get my insurance company to pay for it, which they didn't because it was unrelated. No one wanted to take responsibility for it, eventually they said they would fix it because it was their fault. I went o pick up my vehicle and they only used touch up paint on it and hadn't fixed my light. There were still visible cracks and bumps on my bumper. They do not like talking with me on the phone. They have dragged their feet about fixing my vehicle and are performing half assed jobs at fixing damage they created. The customer service has been terrible and the work has been terrible I still do not have my vehicle. I have complained to Toyota USA as well.Desired Settlement: I want a new headlight and new bumper. I shouldn't have to pay my $500 deductible for the work done on my car.

Review: My husband and I had a horrible customer service experience at Green Tree Toyota dealership, Danbury, CT - sales manager [redacted], instead of trying to resolve the issue that we had, was talking back/not listening/trying to prove himself until the conversation got really heated, accused us of lying, and was overall rude, condescending and NOT helping at all. Horrible experience! Who would ever want to buy a car from a person like that! Actually, the moment he came to talk we already saw that he wasn't helpful, so we wanted to talk to someone else but it looked like nobody there was eager to resolve issues once they arose! Our previous car buying experiences were very pleasant, so we were really surprised! Our last car was purchased within 2 hours from a similar dealership, so we expected same smoothness that we didn't find in Green Tree...When we asked to return our deposit because we didn't want to deal with this dealership at all anymore, he just walked away! And never came back. He threatened the sales agent who was selling the car to us to fire him if he doesn't close this deal. [redacted] also refused to return our deposit of $1000 saying that we are under buying contract and he will keep this money for good if we don't buy the car. He was basically bullying us into buying the car (after almost a week waiting for them to deal with the car loan!) Our current car broke so we needed the car ASAP, and we told them that it is of utmost importance to us to get on wheels and that we cannot wait, so almost after a week we came back to the dealership to deal with this because we didn't hear from them as promised, and it turned out that our agent was off and nobody at all was dealing with our case. At that point we decided to get our money back and that's what we got instead....no explanations, just excuses! and threats that we'll never get our money... We called the bank to reverse the transaction, and were told that there were similar issues with Green Tree from other customers that same day..Thank you.Desired Settlement: We want our deposit back!!! No questions asked. Don't want to ever see this manager ([redacted]) again. If he gets fired, that would be a huge plus - he's a horrible SALES person! (and on top of that, he's a manager who threatens his own employees, and that issue should be addressed in the first place)! We understand that a dealership's job is tough, but they should be on top of their game not to lose customers, and provide great customer service (instead of talking back at customers)!

Review: I have been told that the engine of my [redacted] needs to be replaced as one of the major engine seals is leaking and coolant is now mixing directly with the oil in my engine. Some relevant facts: 1. The [redacted] had 102,000 miles on it when I brought it in for overheating and daily replacement of engine coolant in early December. It currently cannot be driven and is sitting in the service lot. 2. When I brought the car in for it’s 100,000 service – I requested service look at what was happening with my engine and a concern that the car was in need of refilling the coolant reservoir on a regular basis. They examined the car, charged me $200 and told me they could find nothing wrong. This is all documented in my service records. 3. I was quoted the price of approximately $5,900 to replace my current engine with a new one. 4. I am the sole owner of the car and purchased it new from Greentree Toyota in 2007. 5. I have had it regularly and religiously serviced every 5,000 miles with Greentree Toyota since I purchased it. It has meticulous care records. 6. The service manager has offered me a $500 credit towards the replacement cost of the new engine. I never in my wildest imagination purchased the [redacted] in 2007 with the thought that I would have to do a full engine replacement at 100,000 miles.Desired Settlement: My wife and I are limited in our income and we are not in a position to afford over $5,000 in unplanned repairs. I was planning to have this [redacted] for at least 150K + miles. When the service department asked me what I wanted [redacted] to do – I simply asked that [redacted] consider “splitting the cost with me or at least cover the cost of labor and parts and I will pay for the engine”.

Review: The service center failed to inform me of outstanding recalls on my vehicle and provided poor service resolving the trunk door hinge, which is broken. They failed to inform me this is an ongoing issue on many [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would also expect to be informed about recalls while at the service center.

I have added the complaint regarding the tailgate with [redacted] and expect them to be calling a recall on the hinge as many have complained about the same issue and have had to pay thousands for the repair. As I am getting this replaced elsewhere, I would like to be refunded for the cost.

Review: Not told was getting remanufactured parts for brake job. Dealer would not give me the my repaired part from the car but would sell it to me.Desired Settlement: I would like the parts replaced with genuine toyota parts for no extra cost.

Response:

My complaint against Greentree Toyota Service of Brookfield CT, ID [redacted] has been resolved. They did the service on the brakes for free because I was not satisfied with the non Toyota parts they had originally put in. They replaced them with genuine Toyota parts and did not charge me.
