Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint No [redacted] In this circumstance our funeral home made an unfortunate error in the scheduling of military honors for the graveside service of one of our honored veteransWe forwarded the wrong service date to the military and did not realize our mistake until it was too late to reschedule the service or find an appropriate military honors replacement.We did offer to perform another service with full military honors on another day at no cost, but the family, understandably, declinedPer the request of the family, we refunded one-half of the total cost of the funeral serviceThough the family graciously accepted our refund, it of course could never replace the lost military honors that were to be given this veteran.On behalf of our Funeral Home and staff, I would like to express our sincere apology for the sorrow that we caused this veteran's family

At Greenwood Memorial Park, we do our best to insure the safety of our visiting families and their personal property such as headstones and statuary We have a security firm that patrols our grounds during our off hours We also have security cameras stationed around our funeral home and
parking areas; however, with almost acres in our cemetery, it is extremely difficult to monitor all areas at all times.Our Rules and Regulations state: “Memorials, mausoleums and items placed in niches are the personal property of the individuals who place them, and the cemetery assumes no liability for their care and maintenance unless a specific agreement has been set up to provide this Cemetery insurance does not cover privately owned items and memorials, and damage to items and memorials as a result of vandalism and acts of God are the responsibility of the individual owner”Our Monument Design and Installation Application contains the provision, “Monuments are the personal property of the individuals who erect them The cemetery assumes no liability for any theft or damage that may occur in connection with the monument, vases or other ornamentation installed on this lot.”Regarding any repair to the upright monument; this would require filling in the dowel hole for the metal dowel that previously held the statuary in place Although the cemetery is not required to repair vandalism such as this, we would agree to repair this feature; however, we do not want to fill in the dowel hole not knowing if the complainant would want to replace the statuary, which would require the dowel hole to remain
