Review: The company is actually Greer Machinery. We purchased a used lathe that they represented as being rebuilt where Greer machinery stated they examine and repair or replace any worn components. They put a 12 month parts and labor warranty with a 30 day electrical warranty. We sent up a machinist to test run the lathe. It was not leveled and so could not be test run. Tom at Greer Machinery was emphatic that there would be no problems with the lathe and if there was, he would fix it or refund the money. So we purchased the lathe, transported it to our shop, installed it and had an outside machine tool service technician come on site to level the lathe and check it out. The ways were found to be very worn and this is critical to doing proper machining. Tom was contacted, came to our shop and met with myself, our General Manager and the machine tool service technician. Interesting conversation where Tom back tracked on his warranty, feigned that he did not have knowledge of the wear on the lathe (although he says he rebuilds it), then discussed possible remedies of having the ways reground and the additional work involved on other parts of the lathe that are affected by this work. We told him we did not want to pursue that avenue (given his lack of honesty) and we wanted to return the lathe for a refund. He agreed.

When we notified him that we were ready to bring the lathe back and pick up a check, he said he does not have the money. Really we said? He stated words to the effect that he has a large building like ours and is a "big" business with expenses. Really?? He said he had a potential customer coming from Utah to look at a lathe, and we could bring the lathe back and when he sells it, we could get our money back. Given his lack of actionable honesty, we do not think it's in our best interests to bring the lathe without picking up a check.Desired Settlement: Refund of the price. Otherwise our only other alternative is file for legal action.
