Review: We listed our house for sale on June 6, 2015. A prospective buyer noticed mold on the exterior wall of the master bathroom. We hired a plumber to look at it. He tested the shower pan and found no leak there although he noticed the pan was installed lower than the slab. He mentioned some grout was missing, that it appeared that the wrong type of grout was used for the shower and that could be the reason for the leak and advised us to call Service Master for a professional review. Service Master came out and determined there was a leak but they needed to completely tear out the shower, tile, tub to locate its source and make repairs. He gave us an estimate of approx $11,619 to make those repairs. He also told me since our home was only 9 years old that the original builder, G[redacted], may be liable to make those repairs at his cost. We contacted G[redacted]'s office and explained the situation. His assistant, D[redacted], took our call and said G[redacted] had a personal family problem and needed two weeks to get back to us. We certainly understood and gave him those two weeks to resolve his problem. It has been 3 weeks since our original first call to his office. He has never responded by email, telephone, letter, or in anyway showed any interest in our situation. We were told he was a fair person to work with but we have found this to be untrue. Yesterday, while calling his office once more, his assistant gave us several excuses why G[redacted] had not returned our calls or contacted us. She said he is not responsible to make any repairs if they are not structural. We feel he simply does not want to get involved or care about the workmanship and quality of our home, a home that he built. Even if it is true, that he is not liable to make their repairs at his cost, unless they are structural in nature, how does he know, when he never returned our calls or came out to look at the problem? We feel he is dishonest and we will NEVER advise anyone to EVER buy a G[redacted] home in the future!Desired Settlement: Although we have no option but to get a 2nd estimate by another contractor and to get our master bathroom repaired at our cost, we would have appreciated some decent consideration on G[redacted]'s part. Especially since we purchased our home from the cabinet maker that he worked with and manufactured the cabinets in all of the houses in our sub-division. The sub-division in the development built by G[redacted]. We would like an acknowledgement and an apology directly from G[redacted] in person.
