I went here because of the reviews I read about how great and honest this place was....The reviews could not have been further from the truth.
I took my vehicle here for an oil change, tire rotation, and question about why my vehicle stalled one time....It was a disaster from the moment I walked in.
After I explained the services I needed and vehicle concerns that I had, the employee I was talking to just took my keys and walked away. He did not tell me what he was doing, how long the service would take, he didn't even ask if I was staying.
I ended up waiting in the two seat waiting room for TWO HOURS before I even saw another employee. An employee finally came in the room, looked at me, and walked away. He did not ask if I had been helped or anything!
So these first few "problems" I can brush off as just them being rude. I can handle that if they are good and honest mechanics. However, when they finally told me my vehicle was ready (after 3 total hours!) they took me back to the garage and every single employee was smoking! (4 total employees)! Keep in mind they were covered in oil and gasoline...not professional nor safe!
But it gets worse! After the rudeness, unprofessionalism, and lack of safety...they completely lied to me about what was wrong with my vehicle! They said they ran a Check Engine Light test and the code said that I "needed a new fuel pump". They quoted me $490 for the parts and labor (which actually is not that bad of a price.) They said I needed it done immediately or I would be stranded on the side of the road.
I did not go through with the service, took my vehicle to another mechanic and explained what happened. They said there was no code for a fuel pump!
Since I was hesitant to drive my vehicle, just in case it was the fuel pump, I let this mechanic run some tests and keep my vehicle for two days to inspect it.
When I got my vehicle back they said they could not duplicate the problem and said my fuel pump was fine! Even better, they did not charge me for any of the work since they could not find anything wrong!
So as for Greg's Affordable Car Repair...Avoid it at all costs! Otherwise you will be charged for things you do not need, wait in a small room for hours, and potentially catch on fire.
This was the worst mechanic experience I have ever had.
Oh and by the way...It has been 9 months, and (knock on wood), my vehicle has been running great!
We were in from out of state and had our water pump go out on our van. I called around to five other local places to find someone who could fix it in the time frame needed and were quoted prices from $580 to $750 for a job that only takes 1.5 hours of mechanical labor. I found Greg's online and decided to give them a call and was quoted $380 for the whole job. The service writer also suggested that I replace the thermostat at the same time as it was right there and wouldn't take any more time or labor to put it in, and he had included it in the price quoted but could take it off if we didn't want to replace it. Now I have had experiences before where a shop will charge you for both labor rates, even though much of the work is redundant and doesn't take them that long. Here was someone who was willing to do the best thing for the customer and wasn't looking to make a mint off of this potential opportunity. When I asked if the price included a radiator flush and fill that all the other shops were saying was necessary, he responded that it did not, but most times if the coolant was fine they could just reuse it. He would let me know if that was the case. Over all, I am very happy with the service received from Greg's and if we lived in town, we would be doing business with them on a regular basis
Greg the owner was honest, sincere, professional, honest and helpful. He handled my mothers car that was broken down over the phone long distance for me and had her back up and running in one day. He did not try to fix something that did not need repair and he made excellent recommendations. He is affordable and efficient. I highly recommend his business.
