Greg's Garage, Inc. Reviews (2)

approximately 6 months ago our car was overheating it was suggested to us that it was our serpentine belt affecting the water pump so I recalled the ads I had seen for Gregs Garage we took our car in and had the belt replaced yea no more squeaking and when they handed us the receipt and print out it said " Serpentine belt replaced at customer request" and additionally that we needed to have the ABS light checked (which we knew because the light was on) so my husband drove the car home less than 5 miles and it overheated again so we went to jiffy lube to get an oil change because it needed it 3 miles and the car was overheating again the guy at the jiffy lube said it could be air in the radiator however when he looked at it he notice it had a HUGE crack in it and we were darn lucky we made it to them and they told us we could not even drive it home. All this LESS THAN AN HOUR after we got it back from Gregs Garage thankfully the manager at Jiffy lube got us help and we got our ONLY car fixed. Fast forward to now on Friday May 2 our serpentine belt snapped as my husband was heading home from work we called Gregs Garage and had it towed there to have it fixed because the serpentine belt should have lasted for years not 6 months so they were going to fix it half way through the day they called us and told us it was the pulley (which was not broken) and it would be $200 then we were told that there were missing bolts on the power steering pump and we would have to wait until Monday to have it checked so we call on Monday and they informed us they wanted to replace bolts for another $400+ dollars we told them not at this time because we wanted a second opinion we did not receive our car back until Tuesday May 6th less than a day after getting our car back WITH MY NEWBORN 2year old and 4 year old in the car the purge solenoid for the evap system that was previously Bolted to the car shredded the serpentine belt and stranded us in the park no way home and when we called they said we were out of luckDesired SettlementI would like at least a partial refund because they replaced a part that was not in need of replacement and did not secure the purge solenoid for the EVAP causing the new belt to be shredded. I do not want them to try to repair it again because now our car is in worse shape than where we began Business Response Dear Folks,This is the first time hearing of overheating, So we no nothing about it. We replaced the belt on 9/25/2013 and 217,645 miles noted four items; oil leak, LF window, Brake and ABS lights and followed up the repair two weeks later with a letter and they never responded. On 5/2/2014 and 12,624 miles since last repair (warranty 12 months/12,000 miles) replaced belt and idler pulley. The mechanic found the bolts securing the power steering bracket were missing causing the belt to walk half way off, she declined the repair. [redacted] has not given Greg's Garage the opportunity to make it right, instead she takes her vehicle to Jiffy Lube for a second opinion. Without first hand knowledge we are unable to help her out at this time.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)When the belt broke the day after we received our car back from gregs garage and the solenoid was lodged where she belt should be and had shredded we call and asked for assistance they informed my my husband we were basically out of luck unless we could get it towed back to them because we had refused the power steering suspect power steering repair so after reaching out to them and them being unwilling to even come and check ( when we were less then 2 miles from their shop and we were un able to tow it back to them due to the fees we paid the day prior only to find out that 1 our belt got shredded when the loose solenoid got lodged in the belt ( that had previously been bolted down) and miraculously after the new idler pulley had been taken off and the supposedly damaged one ( gregs garage told us we had to replace but come to find out there was nothing wrong with it) there is no belt "walking" issue and our car is back to normal also just as a retort to their previous response yes they told us there was an oil leak because of the stuff Burnt up on the engine but there was not ever an oil leak as we were informed when the radiator was replaced it wad coolant all over the engine so one we that is beside the point isn't it the point is we called when we were stranded because of the broken belt we were informed it was our fault for not letting them go ahead without more repairs and we would have to get it back to them at our expense which we were unable to do for a few days but in the interim discovered we were charged for unnecessary repair and our engine was not put back together properly causing our car to brake down and endanger my family so after their unwillingness to help us during the issue ( which I do believe is the definition of "giving them a chance to make it right") and then replacing a perfectly good part ( as I found out later) I do not want them anywhere near the engine of my car or anything else I depend upon to SAFELY get my family around or relay upon to get my husband to work in which he had to miss as we sorted out the mess gregs garage left our car inFinal Business Response We spent three (3) hours working on the vehicle, you declined further work and were unable to pay your bill in full. The charges were for $273.00 and you paid $200.00, I'm sorry there is no refund and we will apply the $73.00 as more of a loss.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)first of all it was not 5:00 it was just past 4pm we were not on the freeway we managed to pull of of sierra st in to [redacted] park and we took pictures of the solenoid that had previously been attached(prior to our run in with gregs garage as mentioned in previous response)but has since been reafixed for the safety of our family and after they informed my husband Mr.Highline that it broke because we refused to have the power steering messed with and we had to have it towed back at our expense which as mentioned in the previous response was not plausible because of the bill we had to pay with them and would not be plausible for a few days (which was not an option because we were stranded at a park where we could not leave our vehicle) also there may be 230000 miles reading on the car however the majority of the engine had been replaced about 18 months ago so this life expectancy thing is another cop out also the mobile mechanic we finally did get out saw nothing wrong with the power steering pumps mounting unfortunately this was a case where they did not want to ensure the safety of our vehicle

Complaint7/15/13 Odometer: 140,019I[redacted], went to Greg's Garage Inc. to have my radiator and radiator hoses replace. The amount came to $521.73. 6/24/2014Odometer:163.538 I had work done on my car from [redacted],for a stabilizer link, invoice #[redacted]. I expressed concern of green fluid leaking from the top middle of my car. The mechanic felt it could possibly be a radiator leak and suggested I take my car back to Greg's Garage and give them the opportunity to honor their work. Plus the radiator had a one year warranty. 6/24/14 Greg's Garage stated (NO leak found),yet no invoice give for the serves of checking. 6/25/26 I went to [redacted] for a true evaluation and second opinion. This mechanic said my radiator was in fact leaking from the top right corner. He also mentioned my head gaskets needed to be repaired as well. This mechanic mentioned I should give Greg's Garage the opportunity to stand by their work and send back the manufactory warranty radiator for reimbursement, he even showed me ware it was leaking from. 6/26/14I went back to Grey's Garage and stated the above story to the Manager Wess, only to receive invoice #[redacted] stating No Coolant leak found at this time--found hydrocarbons in cooling system-recommend replace head gaskets.(Funning on 6/24/14 they never mentioned head gaskets)11/11/14Odometer: 171.750[redacted] had the pleasure to replace my head gasket, due to their integrity! Again the mechanic mentioned the radiator needs to be fixed asap. 11/13/14 Odometer:171.838 $331.89[redacted] fixed my radiator, he suggested I give Greg's Garage the old radiator to send back to manufacture and possibly get reimbursement. 11/18/14 Greg him self wanted to see both invoice. One for the head gasket, which is none of his business. And the second invoice for the new radiator. I accidently brought the estimate instead of the invoice. He offered me less then the second radiator coast, around two hundred dollars.Product_Or_Service: radiatiorDesired SettlementFor my time, and stress I would like full payment of $521.73 after all the leaking radiator could have cause the head gasket to go bad in 2013 to 2014, we will never know. Business Response The original radiator that was leaking probably caused the most stress on the engine. The head gaskets are known for leaking on this engine type. We offered [redacted] a refund upon proof she did indeed purchase a new radiator. She could only provide a quote. We now feel she is not receiving any refund because she disregarded the recommendations on work performed 8,000 miles ago causing the radiator to fail prematurely.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not except Greg's Garage Inc. response; Why? for the simple fact that on 6/26/2014 on invoice 52639 Grey's Garage stated (no coolant leak found!) when in fact their was one. Nevada Auto Repair will be more than happy to give Revdex.com a written statement if needed, if it's not to later. Also I stated I made a mistake in bringing in the quote instead of the invoice the day I meet with Grey. Please look at page 5/5 of the evidence, it clearly show the cost $331.89 stating (shop copy). Also Grey was give the original radiator from 7/15/13 to return to the manufactory for reimbursement. Not only did this cost me $521.73 from Grey Garage Inc., he most likely got reimbursed for the original radiator as well. In the end he made out as a business owner, while the consumer struggles for justice. If I don't win in small claims court at least I know there's a higher Judge above us all.
