Griffins's Refinishing

Review: I have two pieces of furniture which Griffins was going to refinish and paint for me. They picked up the furniture from my NJ house on 18 May and estimated a 4 week turn around. At this time I paid a $500 deposit for services to be rendered. In early June I called and they said they were having some delays. They anticipated delivery in early July. I called twice in July and received excuses both times, with the promise that it would be done in the next several days and delivered to me. I continued to call in August looking for updates, however the phone is no longer answered and my messages are not returned.Desired Settlement: I would like my furniture returned to me, in whatever state it is currently in.

Review: I had Griffin refinishing refinish my antique Secretary. The secretary has 3 drawers and above 2 glass doors. The problem, after he completed the job, and he was paid if full, including delivery charges. Upon secondary inspection we noticed that there was a small nail head sticking out of the wood on the above glass/wood doors. I called him numerous times to come down and fix the problem he made. I did not give him my secretary in that condition. I have called him so many times, my husband called also, and this is going on for months now with no good outcome. He refuses to come to [redacted] to fix the problem. He wants me to bring the door to him. I paid him in full, ( and his price was always going up) but we paid him in full for his services. When I called him originally, ,I asked him if he comes to [redacted] to look at my secretary. He said of course I come to [redacted]. He came down and looked at my secretary and said he will take the job. We said ok. Now, when I need a repair, because of his doing, he refuses to come to [redacted] to repair my secretary. I have practically begged him to fix this problem. He said it is too far, and he will not come down, until he has another job in the area. I told him I paid you in full, I should not have to wait for another job in the area for him to come down and repair my secretary. His business practices are to be questioned, he took my money, and left me with an inferior product. When I first called him with this problem he said he knew what is was, and that he did not nail it in all the way. Now, he told me he received my secretary with the nails sticking out of it. Then, he hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I want my secretary to be repaired the correct way. I should not have to wait for another job in the area for him to come down and repair the problem he created.
