Stay away from GROM for now.
Let me start by saying I have been a Grom Audio products user for several years through several different products and it pains me to have to write this poor review of them.

My thoughts used to be all good about GROM until now. I’ve recommended them to several friends and I’ve done multiple installs using their products. My issue is with the the VLine2 series and their unwillingness to back their $600 flagship model after a firmware update crashes the system. (Note: I am not a novice in this area as I work in IT and the unit was working relatively fine (just several bugs in it) before this firmware upgrade.) I’ve done firmware updates before and I’m not “new” to this either. Long story short, their firmware upgrade bricked my $600 VLine 2 that is just out of warranty and they won’t do anything about other than charge me more money to so called repair the Unit.

Like I said, it’s not like I haven’t worked with them before and even given them feedback to help correct and improve issues in the past and recently as well. The relationship was good for years until now. I don’t know if there are people new to the company that don’t care, but BUYER BEWARE. This is definitely a change of culture and they no longer stand behind their products. It’s sad that someone could spend $600 on a unit and have to spend more money on a company and product when it was their firmware upgrade process that caused the issue. It’s sad. Just sad. I can no longer recommend GROMs products.

I’ve been extremely patient and would like to keep working with them as the history was great up to now. Maybe there is a change of ownership or the service crew. I used to work with Andrew on the tech side and he was great. But now I only get this “Jonathan” guy who is quite rude and ignorant. Not helpful at all. Now it’s like they no longer care about their customer who cared for them by using and recommending their products.

My hope is that GROM brings back Andrew and the good customer service they once had and stand behind their high end products better than they do now. I’m not trying to bash the company, but making people aware of these issues with the company. If they would just fix my unit without charging me for an issue they created, I would sing their praises again, but right now I unfortunately can’t do that because they have chosen to skirt this issue.

Come on GROM, I’m rooting for you to fix the issue and turn it around so we can be in love again.

Android phone might not charge fast enough.
The phone is still being charged but at a lower speed. Also it is certain phone limitation and not the GROM, we will make sure that we will have this information available to GROM customers. We will update it on the website shortly.

I appreciate Grom's willingness to put additional information on their website - great! However, in their response to me, they are still not being completely honest. Here is my reasoning. If you adverise that a device charges your phone, the assumption is NOT that it will give it a little bit of juice but not enough to keep it from sliding into dead battery land...please make this very clear. In other words, if you do not use the phone or use it only under very clear and limited conditions it will maintain or SLOWLY CHARGE your phone. Otherwise, it will only delay the amount of time til you reach a full discharge. Posting this right in prominent places would indicate clear & honest business practices without trying to get over on the buyer : )
