I did state to the potential clients that I would refund money for 1/2 the deposit but as stated in my contract they would only recieve just that..only 1/2 of that , as I keep the other half as a booking fee...I could have booked two other clients for their date but they hired me less than 60 days...

before their event and of course I immediately started working on the event..the deposit is used for purchases of special music requested, my personal hours I work on putting the event together amongst other costs...Most of my clients give me 6 months or better advance..not 59 days with a 30 day to the tee cancellation...If I wanted to get technical I am sure they did not time it down to the exact 24th hour...I could be shady and tag them with that..but no..I offered to given them 1/2 back..that is standard practice w/in my industry and I can get written statements to prove that if needed. Just for the record the people making the complaint are not the ones who are to be refunded , the refund actually goes to the mother of the bride or groom or however those marriages work...
