Dear MS. [redacted]This letter is in response to your letter of June...

17th, 2016, received this week. It is in response to a letter sent to you by [redacted] [redacted] [redacted].As we understand, Ms. [redacted] had submitted her claim for our Doctor's Anesthesia services bill to her Out of State Blue Cross insurance provider for our services on October 5, 2015. Her insurance at Blue Cross, has initially given her a much lower amount that they would pay as opposed to what an in-state insurance provider would pay. On a $680 bill, they paid $only $458.10 on November 23, 2015. In lieu of her difficulties with her claim not being processed with her insurance at California insurance agreed rates, we offered to give her an unprecedented discount on her entire bill of 20% on April 18, 2016 of $136.00. It is customary for patients to be responsible for amounts not covered by their insurance. As we understand from our records, we have told Ms. [redacted] that with our generous discount, that she would not be responsible for the 20% that we have given her and we suggest that she go back to her insurance provider and request that they pay the claim at California rates, which, unfortunately many patients are forced to do to get their claims properly handled, finalized and closed. We might add that in the 30 plus years in business at Grossmont Anesthesia, we have never been reported to the Better Business for our very considerate and flexible billing practices and offer discounts, assistance and advice to patients so that they may get their claims properly processed. I believe Ms. [redacted] has been shown the same courtesy and hope that she may realize that insurance companies may need to be contacted several times in order to get their claims processed. We would like to repeat that it is customary for patients to be responsible for amounts not covered by their insurance. We are hoping that Mr. [redacted] will understand and realize our generous discounted offer. If we may be of any further assistance, please contact us again.Sincerely,[redacted]

Thank you for investigating my complaint.  Please note - the complaint is not against Grossmont Emergency Services.  My complaint is that Grossmont Anesthesia Services is charging me more than my insurance company paid.
