Groth Water Wells, Inc. was hired by Ray [redacted] to replace a water well, trench with back hoe to install the water lateral, pitless adapter and electric service wire from the newly installed well to the existing home. I knew the limestone in this area was very high so we talked about the...

fact of not getting the water lateral deep enough to keep from freezing. I recommended trucking in extra fill to protect the lateral from freezing, I ordered from a local Trucking Co. 5 yards of clean fill,  we used all of the fill to cover the water lateral and electric service when we back filled the area from well to home. I could not fill the trench back in with the broken limestone as it may damage the lateral and wire.  I called Ray the owner and explained that we had ordered extra clean fill to protect the lateral and wire and could not use the limestone, so I left the extra stone on site and he could hire a Landscape Co. to spread out and cover with more clean fill to landscape the area with more cover to keep from freezing, or Groth Water Wells, Inc. could have a landscape co. call him. The extra fill and limestone from trenching was left because Ray still needs to use the fill from trenching with the stone to landscape in more cover around the well area to the home. Groth Water Wells, Inc. left the casing height extra tall for this reason.    I did talk with Ray on the phone and explained to him we do not to landscaping and a Landscape Co. should follow up for landscaping in the area for more cover. Ray [redacted] hung up the phone on me.   I am sending a copy of this to him also so he can and should get more fill to cover and protect the water lateral from freezing.
