Dear Mr***,Thank you for your feedbackyears ago, you purchased the Classic Geocaching application for $That application included access to a variety of geocache data but did not include a Premium Membership subscription (normally $30/year)In March 2016, we announced that we would be
pulling the classic app from the app store and eventually retiring the application In March 2017, one year later, we retired the application permanently. For the past few years, we have managed a freemium Geocaching application as wellIt is free to download but requires a subscription Premium Membership for many of the tools, including access to certain geocache typesSince we've have retired the classic application, the only remaining app is the freemium application. We do have plans to upgrade the freemium application further, but we have no plans to return the classic geocaching app to the app storeUnfortunately, we can not provide you with a lifetime premium membership to geocaching.comWhile we understand that you were only able to use the $application for five years, that application is no longer functionalIt was never a lifetime Premium MembershipRather, it was a one-time fee to access that application. Hopefully you have found the $fee for years to be worthwhile and hopefully you consider becoming a geocaching premium member to unlock all mobile application and premium member website functionalityIf not, please know that you can always access all of the geocaches (except for PM only caches) on the geocaching.com website for free. I am rejecting this response because:THIS COMPLAINT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION.While they may have publicly stated that the app was going to disappear a year ago, that doesn't change the fact that when I purchased the app, I did so with the understanding that I would be able to use for as long as Groundspeak was in business.I don't like the payment required for ongoing use of the new app I'd happily go back to their self declared limited features of the original classic appor I would accept a refund of the $that I paid for the classic app since I am no longer receiving those services that I paid for.The overall reply below seems to imply that as long as I got year of use out of the app I paid for, that groundspeak is not responsible for providing me with anything for the payment they received from meeven though when I paid for the app there was no mention that it would no longer work come

provided the reasons at that timeWe immediately removed the apps from the app stores so that no further purchases could take place and so that all purchasers would have at least one year of service through the application, if not many years of serviceOne year later, as promised, the classic geocaching application has been retired. I am rejecting this response because:Groundspeak has never resolved any of my issues that I have submitted to the FORM CONTACT and  FORUM.Groundspeak has stolen $9.99 and shut down a viable application on IOS and Android. I had paid for both app's on the two OS and are disgruntled about loosing my funds on the Android. Groundspeak ripped off 200,000 persons that have paid this amount and I want my money back. Since the company is still in business and is still a viable entity and appears to be solvent. My resolution is to refund my debit card. Regard,[redacted]

[redacted],Thank you for your additional feedback. We have been very clear about the reasons for retirement of the application. Unfortunately, application developers retire applications all the time for a variety of reasons. We never represented that you would be able to use this application forever and we;re sorry that you had that impression. In fact, our Terms of Use Agreement specifically states that we may change, suspend, or discontinue any portion of our services at any time, including applications. We recognize that discontinuing an application has the potential to cause users disappointment, which is why we pulled the application from the store one-year prior to retirement so that purchasers would have a minimum of one year of use of the application.  We understand that this resolution doesn't meet with your satisfaction and that you'd like a full refund after 3+ years of using the application. Unfortunately, we are not willing to provide such a refund. You are welcome to continue using the geocaching.com website for free and we do hope you'll consider using our new freemium Geocaching application going forward.Sincerely,Geocaching HQ
