It's unfortunate that we had to report this to the county however when we observe things that are life and safety issues and this was made clear to Ms. at the time, one would agree that if a home is in danger of burning down and in this case it was, It's best to have a higher authority save a family from themselves. This was clearly a violation of code and a life and safety issue for this customer. This person had exposed electrical wiring and an open main electrical panel with all the wiring pulled out that was active. Active wiring not ran properly on the outside of the studs, Non pressure treated lumber in contact with concrete that could promote termite damage as well as many other violations that could lead to additional problems in the home. We would much rather have her be upset with us than find herself in the midst of her home burning down. As for a larger job that was not the case at all and sometimes we find ourselves in difficult situations such as this and it's our obligation to help these individuals get the corrections made so that they can be safe in their own home. We understand that Ms *** is probably angry with the situation and we understand that but its a homeowners responsibility to check with their local officials to be sure that what they are doing is OK before they change something in their home. Florida wants everyone to be SAFE and not have their home blow away in a hurricane during the process. That's why we have codes in the first place! We wish Ms. the best and to be safe in her home.
