Just let Me out of My lease 1 month early and My security deposit back. Also I do not want any bad references applied to My credit or rental history. My Husband is disabled and on a fixed income, I work full time and We have two children. We are being forced to move out of Our apartment that We have been renting from [redacted] for the past 5 yrs due to a severe increase in the rental rate based off of renovations that are being preformed on the units. We made the decision to pursue buying a home for Our Family instead of continuing to rent. We are scheduled to move in to Our house on August 29, 2014, even though Our lease doesn't expire until September 27, 2014. You would think that they would be happy about this being that they would have access to the unit earlier that projected to begin their renovations but instead they are demanding that I still pay them a full months rent for September even though I will be completely moved out by September 1, 2014. To make matters worse today which is August 13, 2014, only 2 weeks before We move out they have came in to. My apartment and turned My water off, disconnected My hot water heater and have plumbers in there jack hammering up the floors in the utility closet to run new pipes for the installation of the new washer and dryer set that they are putting in as part of the renovation project. I am seriously confused about the whole thing. You complain about Us moving 1 month before Our lease expires and demand that We still pay a full months rent for a month that We will not be living in the unit, but yet You are in such a hurry to do the renovations that You have to come in while We are still living in the unit instead of waiting 2 more weeks for Us to be gone and completely moved out. To Me that is just insane considering that My Husband is disabled and My 2 Children are in the apartment. We can't cook, use the bathroom or shower because We have no water. Now You guys do the math on that equation and tell Me what since it makes.Desired SettlementJust let Me out of My lease 1 month early with no payment of rent required and My security deposit back. Also I do not want any bad references applied to My credit or rental history as a result of them being unhappy about My complaint.Business Response Ms. [redacted] was approached about the work that was required to be completed in her apartment and she agreed to allow the work. We had offered to place her in a hotel while the work was completed and she requested to remain in the apartment. We have agreed to allow the Ms. [redacted] to terminate her lease early without penalty. The resident will be responsible for any damages beyond normal wear and tear, including but not limited to any outstanding utilities.

I'm a former resident/tenant of [redacted].([redacted]):moved there 2/1/13, received notice last year October from management their no longer accepting housing choice vouchers I have after my lease expires(1/31/14), giving me no choice to find a new place back in 10/2013 to search for a new landlord that does. Looked, applied to numerous places in the community, being told either waiting list or not taking vouchers. Upon lease nearly ending asked property manager[redacted] for little more time being that found no place. Assistant property manager [redacted] told me it would be penalty to rent month to month, rent won't be the same like lease rent I had through [redacted]. Near March once again asked property for more time with no place available, although was trying secure place. On 2/28/14 [redacted] couldn't reach me by phone sent me a email sorry for inconvenience the latest could stay is to 3/20/14,property manager already rented your apartment for 3/30/14, have to come in office to sign off on new move out date or simply reply email agree to new date which I did. Moved out of apartment 3/20/14, signed new lease on 3/20/14 and moved into new apartment/location. Couldn't make back in time by office close from paperwork, etc., following morning got some small items left by mistake, , took pictures of every room, etc. moving in(By someone), before leaving by myself this time, gave [redacted] keys noon. On 4/17/14 received a damaged, unsecured check for $45.18 from (GSC),managing agent, management escrow account, [redacted] stating security deposit. New people already moved into my old apartment. Had a few minor damage areas from security equipment, entry wall hole upon moving in from one of movers, furniture dent in wall in bedroom, carpet was dusty upon moving in as they never came to clean it. Feel didn't do nearly $300.00 worth damage. Made my last payment for trash/sewer/water bill for 4/1/14 by money orderProduct_Or_Service: Security DepositOrder_Number: N/AAccount_Number: [redacted]Desired Settlement Management never gave me information where my $300.00 will be held at: no itemized statement(Damages) explaining why only deserve $45.18 refund. Bad enough they forced people with disabilities like myself to move out on housing assistant vouchers. No accountability like just take this $45.18 we mailed you and be happy. Not perfect but did my best to keep my former apartment decent, nice, any where I rented for that matter with good references on my renting track record history. Where the proof?Business Response April 30, 2014Revdex.comRevdex.com of Eastern North Carolina5540 Munford Road, Suite 130Raleigh, NC 27612-2655Re: Case# [redacted]Dear Consumer Resolution Department,I have reviewed the complaint from the above resident. After a thorough review of the documentation, I find that the amount charged on the Statement of Deposit is correct.[redacted] has requested proof of the damage and I have enclosed pictures and the Statement of Deposit which itemizes the damages and was sent to her with the refund check. You will find that these damages are clear and beyond normal wear and tear. If [redacted] could provide proof of payment of her final water bill, I would be happy to reassess the deduction for this expense.Thank you,[redacted]Sr. Regional Property MangerGeneral Services CorporationConsumer Response Have no reason to be dishonest: upon receiving the unsecured, damage enevolpe with the check for $45.18; The envelope was clear in front exposing the check and amount, between small and mid size, again with no itemized statement, no such pictures(didn't need pictures took my own before leaving),in no way my complaint about receiving the full $300.00 deposit back, but the right to know how it was deducted to come to amount: still have the last water bill I paid readily available, will be happy to send a copy it along with the money order receipt used to pay (just need to know where to send it to). Have nothing against [redacted]/GSC personally as I appreciate the accommodation of management allowing me to stay past my expired lease. Looking that it recified fairly. Thank you. P.S. Again just need to know where to send the proof of my payment of water to. Final Business Response [redacted],You can send any pertinent information to the [redacted]. At this address:[redacted]Final Consumer Response Have reviewed the response along with the photos today. Unfortunately, wasn't able to schedule a walk through with management before or after moving out due other personal factors. Dish washer: never used their dish washer, even made a comment on move in sheet wouldn't be using it, because I never use dish washer any where I lived( prefer to wash dishes by hand): Carpet stains are valet (Didn't have time to get it clean); Tub didn't keep no dirty tub, but their failing to mention their was a mold problem in and around that tub where maintance had to come address just few months after moving in, in November then again after being out of town for weeks(Had death/Nephew was killed), came back home first week December to see more mold in & around that tub, wasn't being used for month; Paid the water faithfully since moving in received my last water bill few weeks prior to moving out with a due date of 4/1/14, sent payment to[redacted] by money order (Still have the receipt). [redacted]/GSC did not send me no statement damage at all, checked my mail box almost daily, but all of sudden it's produce when a complaint is involved. Yes I agree regarding me having stains on carpet beyond normal wear and tear, but don't agree to no dish washer I never used(perhaps was the tenant prior to me), nor agree dirty tub as I washed that tub before leaving that ring of dirt/mold around wouldn't come out. Regret not doing the move out walk through, however, it was out of control with a lot on going on in my life around that time. Really think it wouldn't come to this. Where would I be sending the copy of proof paid last water bill sent to me to: want to make sure it's goes in the right hands. Thank you.

Quite lacking in customer service, inconvenient office hours, problems were not attended to in a timely manner, ridiculous parking rules, raised rates on same unit, overall very bad experience.","neg-1

I applied to this apartment complex and was approved. I put down a $50 deposit on an apartment. I changed my mind on the apartment size and decided to go to another size apartment. In the time that I'm trying to finalize the apartment they lose two employees in a row that I was working with. I call on a Friday to speak to the manager and see where we can go. No call back. I call again on Tuesday and they don't have any real information from the other people I was working with and don't have the apartment that I was promised. Their whole manner is as if they don't care if I rent there or not and very unprofessional. I tell them if this is how they treat a possible tenant, it doesn't give me much confidence that I will be taken care of when I live there. So I want my deposit back and I'll go somewhere else. They tell me I'm cancelling and will forfeit my deposit even though they don't have the apartment or any information about my previous agreement.Product_Or_Service: Apartment HoldDesired SettlementI waive my $35 application fee but I want my $50 deposit for an apartment they didn't hold for me.Business Response Mr. [redacted] went to [redacted] Apartments and was approved to rent an apartment. He decided that he would like to rent an apartment at [redacted] We were in the process of transferring his fees and hold fee to [redacted] He was scheduled to move in on May 2nd and changed his date of move in to May 5th. Mr. [redacted] did not show for move-in. He was informed that he would lose his hold deposit if he canceled at this point. He requested that his hold fee be sent to [redacted] Apartments for a rental there. Then Mr. [redacted] canceled at [redacted] and decided to rent at [redacted] Apartments. The application was moved to [redacted] for processing. Where he was approved and is scheduled to move in on June 9th or sooner. The hold fee would be moved to this property in the event that he rents the apartment. Mr. [redacted] has changed his mind and move-in dates and location multiple times and we each time we have accommodated his requests. All of the above locations are operated by General Services Corporation. The Hold Fee is designed to take an apartment off the market and reserve it for an applicant. We have been considerate in moving the hold fee to each of our communities and reserving apartments for Mr. [redacted] numerous times. At this point we would not have reason to refund a hold fee, as it will be sent to his most recently applied property.
