GTI North Auto Sales Reviews (1)

I was sold a bad car which the owner of the company knew was bad and when the car broke down he did nothing to try and help.On November 13th,2013 I went to GTI auto in Durham NC and I put down 1500.00 on a 2000 Honda Accord.. During the last two weeks of November (November 24-30) and the First week in December (December 1-7) I began to have break problems and also problems with my car as I take off (transmission issues) I informed the owner of the company of these issues several times and again on 12/13/13 when I made the first payment and the payment for the tags and registration, he told me that I needed to get a transmission flush. On On 12/18/2013 I went to Auto Zone and purchased new brake pads after the ones that were on the car had fallen off due to lack of service before it was sold. I also had the transmission fluid flushed this day. While getting the work done to the car I was informed that the break caliber on the right front passenger side was broken and also that a wheel stud on in the same area was broken. I called GTI the same day to inform them of what I was told. When I took the car to GTI for the owner to look at the issues I had told him about the previous day he told me that he was unaware of the issues with the breaks, the wheel stud, and the break caliber because that was something that he did not check before selling the car. On 12/25/2013 the transmission on the car goes out as I'm driving. (at this point I've only had the car for 1 month and 12 days approximately) Since this happened on Christmas day the Durham County Police Department had to have my car towed to avoid a hazardous situation because of where it was when the transmission went out at therefore I had to wait until the next day to call and inform GTI. On 12/26/2013 I called GTI and spoke to [redacted] who works there and told her of my new issues that I was experiencing with the car. She informed me that [redacted] (the Owner) was out of town for the holidays but she had been calling him that morning to let him know about something that was going on in their office, but he hadn't called her back, and she said that she would call him thought out that day to let him know of my issue also. She even left him messages. From 12/26/13 until 12/30/13 [redacted] had not heard anything from [redacted] Nor had he ("The Business Owner") returned any of her calls to notify of the issues that occurred over the holiday. I had not driven this car 2 months before the transmission went out and also [redacted] admitted to failing to check some major things before he even sold me the carDesired SettlementI would like to have the money I put doen on the car back (1500) because of the lack of service that was susposed to be performed on the vehicle before it was sold. I had only had the car for approximately. 1 month and 12 days before it completely went out on me and I feel like I could of taken my money else where and gotten a car that would have been reliable. I have missed days out of work because of this issueBusiness Response /[redacted]/We sold her the 2000 Honda Accord on 11/13/2013 and gave her 30 days limited warranty on engine and transmission. That warranty will cover 50% of repair cost(parts and labor)when the covered system fail during the warranty period! But it does not cover any towing or storage cost! She did agree and sign on the contract as well! Before we sold her the car, we did pass the state inspection on 11/06/2013 and the inspection report didn't show any brake or tires issue either!Unfortunately her car broke down on 12/24/2013 with transmission issue. She was suppose to tow the car to our shop for assistant or make a warranty claim but she failed to do so,cause she had no money to pay for the towing bill.According to the contract, she has to bring/tow the car in by her own to make the claim, but she didn't and she was trying to blame on us for no returning her call! Actually even we call tow truck for her, she still has to pay for the towing bill anyway! The car broke down was exceeded 30 days warranty period but we told her we will still help her with 50% repair cost but she refused to pay any repair cost cause she has no money! We have done the best we can and honer our policy, but she was trying to get everything free! Unfortunately we can't help as she wished!Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accapt the resolution because I feel as though I should get some if not all of my money back for buying a car that I was I only allowed to drive for a month. I could of takenmy money elsewhere and gotten a car that I could depend on. I have had to miss work days because of thus and I feel as though ive wasted my money on a lemonFinal Business Response /[redacted]/1.We don't own or invest/involve the inspection station and they don't do that either. The garage is owned and operated by someone else, not us!They are independent!2.Who is responsible for the towing/storage cost is base on the contract, not on how much you had paid or how you feel. Just like I told you on the phone: even the car break down out of state, you still have to tow it back by your own not just leaving it there! That's nothing to do with my employee reach me or not!3.After the car broke down. we still willing to honor the warranty ....but the only issue is you have no money ( or not willing )to pay for the 50% cost and the towing/storage cost. Just like any medical insurance, you have to pay deductible or co-pay! Same as the warranty...you have to pay your share as well! That's what the contract design for...buyer and seller all have their own obligations!
