I could not find anywhere on my website were I advertise that [redacted] are Zero VOC free Is this a claim made by [redacted] yes it is In my contract that I provided to Mr [redacted] it clearly states on page of the contract "Keep in mind the chemical has a strong odor and will dissipate as the floor dries." If Mr [redacted] was so concerned with strong odors I would think he would of addressed this before my install He did ask a ton of questions before I installed his floor I made three visits to Mr [redacted] home after the install and I can honestly say the smell was minimal to non existent Like anything brand new there will be a lingering smell especially when the temperatures are in the 90's When you purchase a new car the smell is the strongest on hot days and it dissipates or goes away on cold days In the time I coated Mr [redacted] floor I completed these jobs either before or after his work was complete with the same batch of chemicals [redacted] of Bellevue kitchen floorIndian restaurant in Pioneer SquarePerrigo Park Men and Womens restroomsSeattle Seafood Men and Womens restrooms upstairs and downstairsThree garage floorsx enclosed race car trailer. Not one person has complained of smell As you can see these are high volume areas and two of these are commercial kitchens Since I started my business in I have never had a complaint of bad smells My supplier of [redacted] has been in business for years and has never had a complaint of bad smell My epoxy supplier has never heard of anything like this as well.I have consulted with several concrete contractors I have shown them pictures of his garage First thing they ask me does the garage have ventilation It is a concrete structure with zero air movement his garage should have built in circulation in the event carbon monoxide gets to high It is recommended I contact the Department of Planning and Development and report this improperly installed concrete structure I am currently verifying with the DPD that Project # [redacted] was properly inspected A typical garage or structure is a stick structure that allows ventilation and can breath in this case that is not possible.Mr [redacted] does not have a warranty issue My warranty covers de-lamination, bubbling, peeling and UV retention It does not cover a sensitive nose My contract also states "Deposit is non refundable."I have offered Mr [redacted] a viable solution He agreed to this solution then next thing I know he submits a complaint to the Revdex.com I have never done anything to Mr [redacted] to not be trust worthy I have responded to his request I have provided a chemical to him to help eliminate said odor Then I offered to sand the top coat, open it up and let it air out then put a water based urethane on it Typically when there is a problem most people let you remedy it I don't offer refunds I provided a services and the material is not failing in any capacity. Finally when Mr [redacted] first contacted me regarding the smell he asked me how long does it take for the smell to go away I said normally when the chemical is fully cured it could be hours or more Under most circumstances the smell is gone the next day in hours obviously this concrete box is not normal Mr [redacted] claims the smell is so strong you can smell it outside the garage with the door closed I took two contractors by his house last week with the garage closed and neither one of us could smell anything Obviously I am not as sensitive to this chemical so I thought I get a second and third opinion from someone who does not work with chemicals daily. It is apparent to me Mr [redacted] is working some type of scam and I deepest apologies you have to spend your valuable time working on this

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:The issue here is that MrR [redacted] applied a floor coating in my garage that is producing a strong solvent odor for an overly extended amount of time which has rendered my garage unusable and dangerous I agree with MrR [redacted] that this is not normal I also agree with MrR [redacted] that the smell should have dissipated within a cure time of about hours Everyone that has seen the garage has confirmed the same thingWhat I need is resolution. To eliminate any questions about the level of smell in the garage, I hired [redacted] to conduct a professional, data driven, analysis with the appropriate instruments The test was completed on 7/14/(days after application - well past hours), the garage floor was producing harmful tVOCs at the level of 4,ppb The smell is also strong inside the house causing the two nearest rooms to register tVOC levels of ppb and ppb To put this in perspective, the tVOCs outdoors were ppb and tVOC levels should never exceed ppb indoorsFrom the inspector’s notes: “The levels measured in the garage are similar to what may be found in a production or industrial facility...” The measurements were taken after I left the garage door closed for hours with no fans running It is possible for me to eliminate the strong odors and evacuate the harmful VOCs by running multiple fans with the garage door open This is not practical I should be able to close my garage door without the air in my garage becoming toxicI also should not have to buy a special ventilation unit to remove the harmful off-gassing smells from the floor coating. If the design of my garage was an issue, I would have expected that MrR***, a professional in this field, would have let me know that his product would render my garage unusable and dangerous before selling me the service.Three garage coating experts evaluated the situation and all said the floor should not off-gas this way They were all surprised by how strong the odor was Two of the experts claim the coating needs to be removed The third said MrR [redacted] should have known better than to put a strong solvent in a new underground all concrete garage because the harmful chemicals could be absorbed into the surrounding concrete Here is part of an email from one coating expert:“It seems that the previous contractor probably used an epoxy of some kind for the base coat, and then applied a poly clear coat over the top of it; epoxy generally takes multiple days to "out gas" or cureI have quite a bit of experience with epoxy as that is what I sold exclusively over years ago-- It just was not a great fit for garages in our climate, specificallyIf the contractor did not give the epoxy time to fully cure, (please refer to their products MSDS sheet for requirements), then he could possibly be trapping the fumes that come from epoxy "out gassing"By nature, the average epoxy coating is not 100% solid, but generally around 60%; meaning about 40% of whatever is rolled out and applied will be dissipating and sort of burning offAs we did not apply it, I cannot comment that the floor was installed improperly, or what materials he in fact did useHowever, I've been in this business for over years now and I have never had a floor still be that strong of odor after 4-days, let alone an entire monthI would recommend a full removal of the current floor system, and then installing a new coat system in polymer 100%.“MrR [redacted] proposed a solution to the problem and required me to pay him to fix the defect Given my urgency to eliminate the harmful VOCs, I responded by saying that if his suggestions would resolve the problem that he should do proceed, however, I shouldn’t have to pay him to fix a defect After he failed to respond I contacted the Revdex.com for help, because while this issue may not be urgent to him, it is my family and I that are living with this problem and it is urgent to us.Sincerely, [redacted]

I could not find anywhere on my website were I advertise that [redacted] are Zero VOC free.  Is this a claim made by [redacted] yes it is.  In my contract that I provided to Mr. [redacted] it clearly states on page 4 of the contract "Keep in mind the chemical has a strong odor and will...

dissipate as the floor dries."  If Mr. [redacted] was so concerned with strong odors I would think he would of addressed this before my install.  He did ask a ton of questions before I installed his floor.  I made three visits to Mr. [redacted] home after the install and I can honestly say the smell was minimal to non existent.  Like anything brand new there will be a lingering smell especially when the temperatures are in the 90's.  When you purchase a new car the smell is the strongest on hot days and it dissipates or goes away on cold days.  In the time I coated Mr. [redacted] floor I completed these jobs either before or after his work was complete with the same batch of chemicals.1. [redacted] of Bellevue kitchen floor2. Indian restaurant in Pioneer Square3. Perrigo Park Men and Womens restrooms4. Seattle Seafood Men and Womens restrooms upstairs and downstairs.5. Three garage floors6. 24 x 8 enclosed race car trailer. Not one person has complained of smell.  As you can see these are high volume areas and two of these are commercial kitchens.  Since I started my business in 2007 I have never had a complaint of bad smells.  My supplier of [redacted] has been in business for 31 years and has never had a complaint of bad smell.  My epoxy supplier has never heard of anything like this as well.I have consulted with several concrete contractors I have shown them pictures of his garage.  First thing they ask me does the garage have ventilation.  It is a concrete structure with zero air movement his garage should have built in circulation in the event carbon monoxide gets to high.  It is recommended I contact the Department of Planning and Development and report this improperly installed concrete structure.  I am currently verifying with the DPD that Project # [redacted] was properly inspected.  A typical garage or structure is a stick structure that allows ventilation and can breath in this case that is not possible.Mr. [redacted] does not have a warranty issue.  My warranty covers de-lamination, bubbling, peeling and UV retention.  It does not cover a sensitive nose.  My contract also states "Deposit is non refundable."I have offered Mr. [redacted] a viable solution.  He agreed to this solution then next thing I know he submits a complaint to the Revdex.com.  I have never done anything to Mr. [redacted] to not be trust worthy.  I have responded to his request.  I have provided a chemical to him to help eliminate said odor.  Then I offered to sand the top coat, open it up and let it air out then put a water based urethane on it.  Typically when there is a problem most people let you remedy it.  I don't offer refunds I provided a services and the material is not failing in any capacity. Finally when Mr. [redacted] first contacted me regarding the smell he asked me how long does it take for the smell to go away.  I said normally when the chemical is fully cured it could be 48 hours or more.  Under most circumstances the smell is gone the next day in 24 hours obviously this concrete box is not normal.  Mr. [redacted] claims the smell is so strong you can smell it outside the garage with the door closed.  I took two contractors by his house last week with the garage closed and neither one of us could smell anything.  Obviously I am not as sensitive to this chemical so I thought I get a second and third opinion from someone who does not work with chemicals daily. It is apparent to me Mr. [redacted] is working some type of scam and I deepest apologies you have to spend your valuable time working on this.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:The issue here is that Mr. R[redacted] applied a floor coating in my garage that is producing a strong solvent odor for an overly extended amount of time which has rendered my garage unusable and dangerous.  I agree with Mr. R[redacted] that this is not normal.  I also agree with Mr. R[redacted] that the smell should have dissipated within a normal cure time of about 48 hours.  Everyone that has seen the garage has confirmed the same thing. What I need is resolution. To eliminate any questions about the level of smell in the garage, I hired [redacted] to conduct a professional, data driven, analysis with the appropriate instruments.  The test was completed on 7/14/2015 (23 days after application - well past 48 hours), the garage floor was producing harmful tVOCs at the level of 4,867 ppb.  The smell is also strong inside the house causing the two nearest rooms to register tVOC levels of 729 ppb and 632 ppb.  To put this in perspective, the tVOCs outdoors were 102 ppb and tVOC levels should never exceed 500 ppb indoors. From the inspector’s notes: “The levels measured in the garage are similar to what may be found in a production or industrial facility...”.  The measurements were taken after I left the garage door closed for 12 hours with no fans running.  It is possible for me to eliminate the strong odors and evacuate the harmful VOCs by running multiple fans with the garage door open.  This is not practical.  I should be able to close my garage door without the air in my garage becoming toxic. I also should not have to buy a special ventilation unit to remove the harmful off-gassing smells from the floor coating. If the design of my garage was an issue, I would have expected that Mr. R[redacted], a professional in this field, would have let me know that his product would render my garage unusable and dangerous before selling me the service.Three garage coating experts evaluated the situation and all said the floor should not off-gas this way.  They were all surprised by how strong the odor was.  Two of the experts claim the coating needs to be removed.  The third said Mr. R[redacted] should have known better than to put a strong solvent in a new underground all concrete garage because the harmful chemicals could be absorbed into the surrounding concrete.  Here is part of an email from one coating expert:“It seems that the previous contractor probably used an epoxy of some kind for the base coat, and then applied a poly clear coat over the top of it; epoxy generally takes multiple days to "out gas" or cure. I have quite a bit of experience with epoxy as that is what I sold exclusively over 10 years ago-- It just was not a great fit for garages in our climate, specifically. If the contractor did not give the epoxy time to fully cure, (please refer to their products MSDS sheet for requirements), then he could possibly be trapping the fumes that come from epoxy "out gassing". By nature, the average epoxy coating is not 100% solid, but generally around 60%; meaning about 40% of whatever is rolled out and applied will be dissipating and sort of burning off. As we did not apply it, I cannot comment that the floor was installed improperly, or what materials he in fact did use. However, I've been in this business for over 12 years now and I have never had a floor still be that strong of odor after 4-5 days, let alone an entire month. I would recommend a full removal of the current floor system, and then installing a new 3 coat system in polymer 100%.“Mr. R[redacted] proposed a solution to the problem and required me to pay him to fix the defect.  Given my urgency to eliminate the harmful VOCs, I responded by saying that if his suggestions would resolve the problem that he should do proceed, however, I shouldn’t have to pay him to fix a defect.  After he failed to respond I contacted the Revdex.com for help, because while this issue may not be urgent to him, it is my family and I that are living with this problem and it is urgent to us.Sincerely,[redacted]
