Company did not pay for services giving me run around
Purchase plan through the marketplace my dental office was listed however once I purchased this plan my dental office was not listed anymore so I had to go with whatever office chain was offered . The Agent emailed me dental Offices and orthodontist offices that was covered under my plan went to the dentist made me get a deep clean and pay extra . Then took my son to the orthodontist which is located in the same office as the dentist that the
Agent recommended me and told me that orthodontist was covered by them. I called the company when the Office manager said I had to pay *** for his braces I was told that I only had to pay $350 if it was medically necessary for my son to get braces which the doctor signed off on. Braces were not covered at all the agent told me that I had to reach the deductible of $700 A piece for my 11-year-old son and my one-year-old son who only has eight teeth in his mouth before the company will pay for braces. So I have to come out of my pocket *** because
Of false advertisement.

Desired Outcome

The dentist should be able to pay for his braces .

Wrong company sorry

guardian direct dental insurance had my business. As dental insurance they had 1 job. cover what they offered.
*** DOB *** policy ending *** and regarding claim #DXXXXXXXXXX,
In June 2019, I decided that my husband, needed a dental cleaning. so I searched and searched for hours for an affordable individual dental plan that covered the basics. He is a pretty straight forward case but I knew he needed a deep cleaning since it had been a while since his last dental cleaning and a visit due to having no dental insurance. I came across guardian, purchased the plan and for $48 he was covered for 6 months ( so I thought). I then called to confirm all was ok and was told to make an appointment with a dentist in network. I made an appointment for him with a local dentist office that was in network according the online website. that dentist "lost" his appointment and had horrible customer service. so I called guardian on July 30,2019 and spoke to a representative that informed me that as long as the dentist was in network he could go anywhere he pleased. So I then made an appointment with the 2nd dentist office. My husband went and they took xrays but the office was very inefficient and were very rude and his visit was not pleasant. He left with a $*** drawn up plan of his visits going forward. Now we are not wealthy people by any means hence why I chose $9 a month insurance. We are lower class working america with a newborn and 1 salary. Now these dentists that are covered are what we call "mall/shopping center dentist offices but for less that $9 a month I expected it. I told him I would go online and research the 3rd dentist and have the xrays sent over to the now "new 3rd dentist" about a few days later I received an email from guardian, an Explanation of benefits, stating that they were not covering the xrays and denying the claim of $455. So of course I am upset being there was no explanation on the EOB at all and I call guardian again and the representative stated that because I did not go online and switch and make that 2nd dentist the primary dentist on the account guardian was denying the claim. WHAT? I have never heard such nonsense in my life! If the dentist was in network ( which it clearly was and confirmed that it was with phone calls!) what the *** is the problem? So I now explain to the representative that I was NEVER INFORMED OF THIS INFORMATION and don't you think if I knew I would have taken 5 minutes and done that to avoid this chaos!? so the rep tells me she will forward this to her manager and the manager will listen to my july 30,2019 phone call to see if the rep told me this information. ok fine. after a week of not hearing back I called guardian 9/16/19 and the rep tells me that the manager did listen to my phone call and I was told this info so they are still denying the claim. I continue to tell the rep I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS INFORMATION AT ALL OVER THE PHONE BY A REP, so I ask where was this info written? was it in the contract that I didnt see? or was this sent in an email I didnt receive? the rep tells me it is in the welcome letter I was given and totally changes the subject. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY WELCOME LETTER!! AT THIS POINT I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND am thinking I totally got SCHEMED AND SCAMMED! I request to cancel my insurance plan. the rep tells me if I switch the dentist on the account then my husband can have his next visit with the 3rd dentist covered. ummm no thanks! I now I have a $455 bill from a dentist that wants to be paid and is holding my husbands xrays hostage! my husband cant even go to another dentist because we cannot afford all of these bills, hence why I signed up for $9 a month dental insurance!

Desired Outcome

I Want Guardian dental insurance to cover the claim under my husbands account. I want them to pay this poor dentist office, COAST DENTAL IN ALTAMONTE SPRINGS the money they are owed so that way the dentist office DOES NOT send me and my poor husband to collections over something so simple and minor that should 1000% ABSOLUTELY BEEN COVERED. I could see if the dentist was out of network and i didn't do my research but i spent hours googling and doing my research on choosing a dental insurance and thought i was doing the right thing but apparently i wasnt. big mistake!
