We didn't just seal and stain the deck. We scraped all of the loose peeling stain as outlined in the bid proposal. The only way to remove all of the stain would be to strip the deck completely with chemicals. I did talk to the paint rep and they said the chemicals from the pool could be causing the stain to peel. We will go back over the deck and re-scrape, seal and stain any peeling that is currently occurring and make sure that any stain that is on the house will be removed at no charge. I will schedule the work for 8/31 in the morning.

This deck was originally peeling very bad everywhere from pre existing stain. I told the home owner all that could be done without stripping the deck would be sealing it with a sealer and applying a better stain and to keep our fingers crossed that it wouldn't peel. There is a 5 year manufactures...

warranty on the stain but it does not cover pre existing material. The homeowner first called saying that there were a few missed spots on the deck and a couple of spots on the siding that had stain. At this point it was late fall and the weather was getting bad. when spring came along he called and reminded me and I said I would get there when I could because of scheduling. Whenever we have a new job or a call to touch something up a new work order is made and we go in order down the list of jobs as they come in. We had multiple exterior jobs left over from last fall that we had to do before we could get to his touch ups. I did receive a call from the homeowner threatening that he was going to call and file a complaint with the [redacted] because we didn't get to his touch ups yet. At this point I pulled people off of a job that they were currently working on to go do the touch ups. There was some stain on the house which was our fault and I had it cleaned. There were a few areas on the deck that soaked in the stain and were light so we took care of that also. I was not aware of any stain on pool equipment or on the driveway. If I knew that would have been taken care of. Also for the record I never have used foul language and everyone who knows me personally would say the same. Come June it has rained almost everyday since April. At this point no exterior work can be done and we were 30-40 jobs out. The Homeowner called and said his deck had a few spots that were peeling and asked if I could come fix it. I told the homeowner I could but we were at least 3-4 weeks out minimum if we had good weather everyday before I could get anyone over to do the touch ups. I did stop over the next day and looked at the deck to see what needed done. What is happening is the original stain is peeling and pulling off the stain and sealer that we applied. The manufacturer does not warranty that but I still put the deck on the schedule to get touched up. I wasn't even going to charge for it because it was minimal. From the day I had hung up with the homeowner and told him I would take care of it, it rained every single day except for 4th of July weekend. We were no further ahead on our schedule. Decks need 1 day to dry, 1 day to have stain applied, and 24 hours to dry. Basically you need 3 days in a row to stain a deck properly and we have not had that at all this year. You cannot be impatient when doing this kind of work or stain will peel like it was from the beginning. So since it has rained everyday and we were unable to do the jobs ahead of him to be able to even get to the deck to touch it up, here I am responding to this complaint saying we didn't drop everything and rush over to touch the deck up in the rain.  I am still willing to come touch it up even though the stain that is peeling isn't what we applied. I cannot guarantee an exact time or date because of the weather. But I can guarantee that I will keep my word and touch it up for him. It has to be dry and have time to dry.
