On approx 6/29/2012, GWR repaired a small roof leak around a vent in the front bedroom area. HO claimed water intrusion only after 7-8 hrs of rain. GWR resealed around the vent and cleaned all debris from work area.
On Approx. 10/31/2012, GWR inspected the roof for areas that allow for rodent intrusion and added additional flashing to a return area to prevent pests.
On approx. 9/26/2013, GWR repaired a leak at the 4' ORV, sealed the area and cleaned debris.
On approx 10/9/2013, GWR was asked by homeowner to inspect the right side of the same vent, as they believed we only repaired the left side of the vent. GWR found no evidence of leaking.
This is the only information listed in our system regarding this home. There has never been anymore contact regarding this home or any issues since 2013. Of course if GWR was notified of any issues, we would have addressed them for the homeowner.

Coastal Roofing Inc. was hired by our HOA to perform a Roof-A-Cide and pressure washing. This was a choice and we Opted out.
Our HOA hired Coastal Roofing Company to perform a Roof-A-Cide treatment along with pressure washing. first, Coastal Roofing Company(CRC) was to provide us with drone pictures before any work was to be done. However, we were not provided with the drone picture until after the work was done. (again and probably mentioned a lot thru this complaint WE OPTED OUT). Once we reviewed the drone pictures we became concerned about the damages that they caused and then we had a experience roofer come out the inspect the damage done. He advised us that the damage was much more then what appear on the drone picture. He also stated that we had about 30-broken tiles along with a huge piece of the peak of the roof that had been broken off. He also stated that the damage was recently done. At that point and earlier I contacted our HOA with all these complaints. They replied giving me CRC insurance information. I was a little confused whey they would provide me with that information, so I took it as I could/should make a insurance claim. I then emailed (several times and documentation could be provided) both the HOA and CPC to resolve this issue. The many complaints and emails have not brought us to a resolution. However, CPC (months later) then wanted to inspect our roof again to determine the information from the roofer. I had several emails advising CPC that we did not want them or anyone associated with their company to not only enter our property but to never be on our roof again. Well, once CPC got tired of dealing with me, they then started emailing my husband (at work...not accepted) requesting to come and do a ladder inspection, which we did allow. We never receive a report regarding the inspection and therefore my complaints started even more. Once again (at a later date) they email my husband and requested to do another inspection which would require them to get on our roof again, unfortunately my husband did allow this even after my constant emails to CPC stating not to get on our roof and/or my property). Once again, we still have not received a report. Of course, they emailed my husband again trying to explain that they did not know our tile was different from the other homes here and therefore, they may have to perform some type of other procedure in order to make the tile close in color. Nothing else was addressed in the email regarding the information I requested. Basically, this company and/or anyone hired by them, entered our property/roof without having the permission. The HOA confirmed that the list of homes provided to CPC excluded our home. There is much damage done to our roof, including the peak of our roof being broken off. This issue could cause water to seep through the broken peak. This situation has been long going on and has caused a lot of headache in our lives along with the worry of our roof damage.

a few other things to mention, my husband attended a CPC meeting regarding their procedures. Once my husband came in with the large broken peak of our home, they did not really want to discuss this issue doing their meeting but after. I am not sure of who he talked to but they admitted that the drone pictures may not have been our roof. They then told my husband that the drone pictures of all homes done are not exact and they could not even confirm whether picture given to the homeowners were possibly not from their roofs. They advised my husband that they would fix the situation to our satisfaction and make things right with no cost to us. Because we don't trust them on our roof, we requested to use our roofer and for them to pay the roofer. They advised that they would not pay for another business but would only perform the work themselves. One of our concerns, is that their company is the ones who damaged our roof and we really do not want them to perform the repairs. How can we trust them???

Desired Outcome

To pay for the damages done, but with our roofer. We still want reports from the company before a resolution because we want to make sure their report matches our roofers comments/written statement.

Gulf Western Roofing Response

In reading the customer's response and your criteria for compromise, we again reiterate we will replace any broken tile that meets our criteria as exemplified by the attached photos, which were also sent to the customer.

With the ***'s approval, we will inspect their roof on the mid or late morning of January 2, 2018 and issue a report on our findings to the BBC by the close of business day January 5, 2018.

We have been responsive to the customer and have assured them that we will replace broken tiles.

We do not find the resonse from CRC to be totally factual or acceptable to our favor at all. See below:

1. First and foremost, we would not be in this situation had CRC NOT entered our property or get on our roof. Remember, we signed an opt-out form and was excluded from the HOA' s list.

2. CRC made the error due to their mistake. I believe their error would be considered trespassing and property damage.

3. CRC hired subcontractors (I believe a sister company named Coastal Painting Company n/k/a CPC). The laborers of CPC are not skilled roofers or experienced at pressure washing of roofs. The process set up by the HOA and CRC was CRC was to take drone pictures of all the homeowners that requested their roofs to be done and with the pictures CRC was to provide the homeowners with a report and copies of pictures before moving forward. Of course, this was not done.

3. CRC moved forward with allowing CPC to start powerwashing the roofs. We were also advised that no one would be on our roofs, but the laborers were most definitely on our roof and during this time there was a lot of noise which was due to the walking and dragging hoses across the roof. This is when the damaged occurred!

4. There is so much I can keep pushing, but at this point we are more interested in getting our roof repaired for ALL the damaged done. Not just what they feel should be repaired (I do have some emails from CRC where they state that they would repair all roof damage that needs repaired). Obviously, CRC is trying to avoid from doing as promised.

5. Our resolution requirements are that our roof is repaired completely and effectively. We do not trust CRC to perform these repairs as their work ethic has showed NO reason to feel otherwise. As stated in the complaint, we have all these damages to the roof which over time can worsen. CRC doesn't seem to be concerned with this fact.

We still request the drone pics and the reports as advised. We are determined to move forward with other recourses if no satisfactory resolutions have been agreed upon.

January 29, 2018

I am responding to the Wards January 19, 2018 response.

The background has been recited time and time again and summarized in my report submitted on January 5 and logged by the Revdex.com on January 9, 2018. Following that we made the following offer as follows:

"January 8, 2018
GWR stands behind our inspection report as written and submitted on January 5, 2018.
To resolve this issue to the satisfaction of the homeowner, we are offering a cash settlement of $500.00 for a full and complete release from the Wards, for any and all alleged damage caused by GWR to their roof."

Beyond those two responses, we have no further response to the Wards except to refute serious misrepresentations as to our words and actions.
Specifically:
We absolutely and categorically deny that the workers on the roof were not qualified and that we so stated. In our opinion, they were eminently qualified and we never said otherwise.

There were never any drone pictures of their roof as they had opted out of the program as we and they have acknowledged.

We asked Mr. to meet us after the meeting, so we could sit with him and discuss the issues in depth; which we did.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This company has put us through ***. Now, the company only wants to fix the roof with what they consider to be fixable or they want to offer to pay $500.00 towards roof repairs. The damage/repairs are much more than the offer made by the roofing company.

We are in the process of taking this matter to the next avenue.

The resolution we are requesting is that we want a report showing all damage and the cost to repair the damage. The offer of $500.00 is Not acceptable.
