Gunter Shipping Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I paid [redacted], who is an employee of [redacted] Shipping Jamaica Ltd. in Jamaica $57,000 ($Ja.) which is equivalent to $570 $US on April **, 2013 for packing and shipping all the above items. After paying that amount, I was not given an Invoice or a Bill of Lading or anything to prove our agreement. I asked for an invoice and was sent a skimpy one with very little info and no payment was stated via my e-mail which I tried to print it but was unable to. (Maybe that's all part of the scam). He told me that the shipment would be leaving the next day, on April **, 2013 and he will arrange with [redacted] that my shipment will be delivered to my home address in West Melbourne, Florida from the [redacted] port. I distinctly asked him if he is sure that [redacted] Shipping will deliver my stuff to my address and he gave me his assurance by saying that he will speak to [redacted] to have my shipment delivered to my address because the company makes deliveries all over Florida. I also asked [redacted] how long it will take for me to get my stuff and he told me about 2 to 3 weeks, if all the paper work goes in quickly after paying freight and paying an additional fee for delivery. I asked [redacted] to give me an estimate as to how much freight would cost and he said about $2,000 ($US) plus an additional couple hundred dollars for delivery. All that was agreed upon before shipping. I left Jamaica on April **, 2013 to my address in West Melbourne, Florida. On April **, 2013, a [redacted] from the [redacted] wharf called me and said he got an e-mail stating what was agreed upon. He then said that he will get back to me later. He called me back on May **, 2013 and said he is sending me some forms to full out and I should full them out and returned them to him ASAP along with a copy of my passport. I received the forms via e-mail and I filled them out but was unable to send them back via e-mail. I had to seek other alternatives. I got them printed out, filled out, along with a black and white copy of my passport and returned to him via snail mail on May **. I called about five days after and he confirmed the receipt of all the documents and said he will get back to me. I waited another week and no one get back to me, so I called and [redacted] told me that he need a colored copy of my passport. (He could have told me that in the beginning but maybe that's all part of the delaying tactics) I do not have a printer because all my belongings are on the their wharf in [redacted], so I had to seek other alternatives. Every printing firm I went to, told me that they are not making colored copies of any government document because it is illegal. I spoke to the owner of the shipping company, [redacted] and told him that, and he said it's been done all the time and I can't get my stuff unless he get a colored copy of my passport. I had to go to a friend's house and asked them to scan the passport then sent it to them via e-mail. A chance I took via the Internet. After that, no one called me as to the delivery of my stuff, I called around the ending of May and I asked to speak to [redacted] who was handling my documents and I was told that he no longer worked for the company. I immediately called the owner, [redacted] again and he was shocked saying he knew nothing about [redacted] quitting the job. He said he will call me back. No one called me back. On June * I got a call from a [redacted] from the [redacted] office in [redacted] asking me to re-send the same documents to a [redacted]. I told her that all those documents were already sent to [redacted] and they should be in their possession. She claimed that she doesn't know what [redacted] did with the documents. I then asked for a phone number for [redacted]. I called for 2 days and could not contact [redacted]. I finally got her on the third day, spoke with her and she then sent me an e-mail requesting the forms again. I sent them to her on June **. After that , no one contacted me so I called the [redacted] office again, on June ** and I spoke with a lady who told me that the shipment was cleared but I have to pay for storage. I was pissed off about the storage fee and she told me that I have to speak to [redacted]. On June [redacted] called and had me speak to [redacted] who told me that my stuff is now cleared off the wharf and I have to pay for both freight and storage costs. After all those delaying tactics, they are asking me to pay for storage? I was shocked that [redacted] is asking me to pay a total of $3,475 for freight and storage cost. [redacted] Shipping is also refusing to have my stuff deliver to my home address as agreed upon. I decided not to pay a dime for storage after all the delaying tactics and the inconvenience I had decided to take legal action against [redacted] Shipping Inc. On June [redacted] called me and said she see where I had not paid the $3,475 and I told her that I think it is unfair for me to pay for storage after all I have been through with the shipment. She gave me her assurance that she will see to it that my stuff be delivered to my address in West Melbourne, Florida after consulting with [redacted]. After ranting and raving and with her assurance, I ended up paying $3,000 ($US) with my credit card (which was the maximum) to a Kardel Enterprises in Doral, Florida. One [redacted] of [redacted] Inc.,(one of the many subsidiaries of [redacted] Shipping Inc.) took the information and sent me a receipt of confirmation via e-mail. I have been calling [redacted] at the [redacted], [redacted] office since yesterday and each time I called, someone answered telling me that she is out. I also tried to call [redacted] and he is not answering his phone, either. That is why I am seeking legal action against [redacted] Shipping Inc. and it's many subsidiaries. I would like to have my money back! In total, I have paid $3,750.00 and to date I have not received my shipment. I can imagine how many of my property have been stolen, lost, destroyed and expired due to this catastrophe with [redacted] Shipping Inc. I have heard all sort of horror stories about movers and shippers since then. How do I know if my shipment is on the wharf? Time will tell!!! [redacted] phone number is: ###-###-####, [redacted] # is: ###-###-####, The [redacted] offc# is: ###-###-#### where you will get [redacted] and the Jamaica # whre you will get [redacted] is: ###-###-####.Desired Settlement: Either delivery of my shipment, as promised, or a refund of my money including value of my lost shipment. If none of the requests can be granted, I want [redacted] Shipping Inc. to be shut down. All my statement is correct and I have papers, receipts, credit card statement and bank statement to verify upon request. Thank you.

Response:

On April [redacted] commissioned [redacted] Shipping to transport some furniture and personal effects for her to [redacted]. The Kingston of fice of [redacted] Shipping told [redacted]. [redacted] of the charges to the get her cargo to [redacted] and [redacted] was informed of any additional charges she would have to pay at destination including duty charges by US Customs and delivery to her house in Melbourne [redacted].

[redacted] paid money in Jamaica to cover trucking/transportation, packaging and handling associated the transaction in Jamaica.. When [redacted]'s cargo arrived in [redacted] she was contacted by the office in [redacted] and was told that she would need to provide certain documentation as requested of our company by the steamline/customs, that she did provide. Our associate at the time that was providing assistance to [redacted] was [redacted] who was helping with the release of the cargo. When [redacted] resigned, the process had to be restarted since permission for him to handle the cargo was given to him by [redacted]. [redacted].

[redacted] from our New York office was assigned to handle [redacted]'s case as soon as [redacted] resigned.

The paperwork as provided by the steamline showed the ocean freight charged to [redacted] was

(1) $ 2,091.90USD. That cost did not include any storage charges.

(2) May [redacted] saw no storage charges accrued because [redacted] explained to the steamline what was going on and the storage was discounted.

However, Seaboard insisted that June * to June **" had to be paid regardless of the circumstances. [redacted] informed

[redacted] of the charges she would need to pay and [redacted] ref used to pay the storage charges stating that she shouldn't

have to pay for storage since she wasn't the one who kept it on the port. [redacted] spoke with [redacted] and told her she would have to pay for her storage. After much deliberating she agreed to pay it using her credit card ($2,091+$12 50 storage} however her credit limit was $3000. With the$ 275 custom clearances and $99.72 Port Fee her total charges were $3715.72 USO.

Our final conversation [redacted] had with [redacted] was the request of a pre July [redacted] delivery. And [redacted]. [redacted]

was again reminded that that the pickup charges had to be paid regardless of whose fault it was why the things were on the wharf to accrue storage.

In addition [redacted]. [redacted] was informed by our office in Jamaica that she would have to pay for delivery of her cargo to her house in Melbourne.

Response:

[redacted] called [redacted] and informed her that her cargo that was sitting in our warehouse in [redacted] was available for pick up.

[redacted] was also told that all outstanding charges would be absorbed by [redacted] Shipping.

She was very grateful and agreed to go and pick them up, the [redacted] office got a U-Haul truck and driver to take her cargo to Melbourne

where she lives. [redacted] Shipping waived even [redacted]'s credit card fees, her handling charges, all charges that she was asked to pay were those that Seaboard imposed on her cargo. She said that her card could only may $3000, and that what she was being charged was ridiculous and before she pd it she would let them give them away to charity because they did not even cost that much, so for [redacted] to be claiming that she is missing over $2000 of things is ridiculous or to quote [redacted] "Hanky Panky".

In a conversation with [redacted] ,[redacted] told [redacted] that all that was missing from her cargo was a pot set and a few Jamaican records.

To be claiming more is just her way of trying to extort what she paid for her transaction.
