Review: this company charged us 14,000.00 to appraise some household antiques and claimed it took them 44 hours to do so and charged us 325.00 per hour. It is outrageous. we spoke to several other antique dealers and appraisers who said the cost should not have excedded 3,00.00Desired Settlement: either they need to document exactly how they came to bill for 44 hours ie per antique piece and also why they couldnt have had one of their research assistants at 150.00 per hour do the majority of research when needed

As was previously discussed in our phone conversation, the gentleman who filed the complaint is not our customer and his partner who is our customer was completely satisfied and has paid our invoice. We have asked our client to kindly have his partner retract the complaint however we are not sure if this will happen so we are providing a summary of the situation just in case:

The gentleman filing this complaint is not a client of [redacted] and has never engaged [redacted] for any services. We believe that he is the spouse of a [redacted] client, who, through all verbal and written communication with our company, has provided positive feedback on every aspect of this project. After receiving the final product and corresponding invoice, the client specifically noted his pleasure with [redacted]' professionalism and paid for all services rendered.

The hours, rates, and estimated total fees for the project were outlined through both a proposal and Agreement Letter prior to any work being conducted. Both the proposal and Agreement Letter were reviewed and signed by the client. When the project scope increased slightly (from 80 items to 103), the client approved additional needed hours. Total fees accordingly came in just above initial estimated total, which our client approved in advance.

The final document was delivered alongside an invoice that clearly outlines specialist time spent.

The stated antique dealers’ 3,00(sic) quote for an appraisal of some household antiques is meaningless and a grossly inaccurate description of scope; it provides no details on dealer’s credentials, type of property to be appraised, type of appraisal, or an accurate description of property the client requested to be included. There were in fact 103 items included in this appraisal, which includes quality antiques and jewelry of considerable value.
