Review: I purchased a GustBuster umbrella with a "Limited Lifetime Guarantee" on [redacted]. The umbrella's closure clasp broke after a month of use. I discovered many [redacted] reviews indicating this is a frequent problem. I contacted the company asking for a replacement. The company stated I must ship them back the broken umbrella at my own expense and provide them a check for $10 for "Shipping and Handling" related to the exchange.

This policy is not published on [redacted], nor the company's own website. The fact that I must pay 50% of the retail price of the umbrella to exchange a defect of which the company is well aware is an extremely poor business practice. I emailed the [redacted] of the company with this complaint, to which he did not respond. I therefore simply want a refund.Desired Settlement: Refund me. Publish your policy online so buyers can inform themselves of the implications of a defective product exchange prior to purchasing. Don't charge customers $20 to replace a defective $40 umbrella. And fix the manufacturing defect that causes this problem.

Review: I purchased the umbrella due to, in part, the use of "quality" parts and construction along with the lifetime warranted that they were so proud of. Within a few uses I noticed that the metal joints began to rust. Given this is an umbrella, and its primary function is to get wet, you would have that the "quality" components used would include rust proof materials. Apparently not.

So I call the company to exercise my warranty option. I was told that it was my fault and that rust was not covered under the warranty. Upon informing them that the $5 dollar [redacted] umbrella holds up better than theirs and that I might as well save the $50, they hung up.Desired Settlement: I was hoping for an exchange of some kind, but after the customer service I received, I just want my money back. Honestly though, I seriously doubt that this resolution will be achieved.
