H. Ross Morrison

I would like to share my experience from the visit I had today with Dr. H Ross Morrison DDS. I recently had an Epileptic Seizure and needed to see the dentist as I had injured my mouth during a Tonic Clonic episode. I have previously had been a patient of Dr. Morrison in the past, with this he knew of my anxiety of visiting the dentist. Upon my visit, I had discussed what happened to his technician, she had completed an x-ray and had me wait on the Dr. to come see me. He checked my teeth to let me know that I had not permanently damaged my lower teeth and then began to question me about my seizure, when and where. After telling him what I had remembered and piecing together (after being unconscious) He began to question me if I had seen a Neurologist, I told him that I see an Epitoligist at KU and have been in communication and we are working on my medication. I was not able to get a word in edge wise, for him to allow me to tell him that indeed I did have the EMT at the time check me out and we were all in agreement to get in contact with my doctor after all my vitals were clear and the EMT's determined I was apparently ok. (Other than my teeth and biting my tongue) He asked how often I had seizures, I explained that it had been 8 years free and only had the last one not two years ago when my grandson was born. (And had immediate care by my Epitolgist,) He had the odasity to ask me if I currently watch my grandson, and what if I were to watch him and I had another seizure. Telling me that the care that my doctor is giving me is not satisfactory to him and that I should get a new doctor?? I was humiliated in the fact that I am a very educated adult when it comes to my Epilepsy that I have had it for decades, I believe he was assuming that I did not take care of myself appropriately regarding this. (he has not clue how serious this is to me and my life) I felt he was berating me in front of his staff and other patients as there are no doors in his office. Including my sister who was in the waiting room as she drove me there. My sister was very appalled and felt the need to call his office after returning me home to let him know that the way he handled me as a patient and how he upset me was not ok, that she heard everything from the waiting room. He told my her that he believed that I did not want to go to the doctor and he was saying things how he saw it... He did not listen or give me a chance to let him know that I indeed had been seen by the EMT and that I am in constant contact with my Doctor over my recent situation. As I stood up to walk out of his office, I noticed the other patients, the staff. The mortification set in that all was heard by everyone. Hippa Violation? Absolutely. Could he have had a better bedside manner and had open ears to actually listen? Yes. Will I recommend him to anyone? No! I have already recently had trauma due to having another un-expected seizure, medication changes, unexpected injury. It is a very emotional time for me. And now a dentist that has rude bed side manners and no remorse in humiliating a now former patient.
