September 12, 2017Dear *** ***:H&S Towing Service, inc is an Authorized Service Garage for the Pennsylvania Turnpike CommissionAugust 30, at approximately hours Turnpike Communications alerted our dispatch center requesting a Heavy-Duty Wrecker for a tractor and trailer blocking
the right hand lane at milepost east boundUnits arrived on scene and found the truck to have had a right front steering tire blow outThis caused not only cosmetic body and suspension damage, but the truck to be disabled in the lane of travel and blocking trafficAt this time both units were under lifted and prepared for tow to a safe locationOnce at a safe location the customer then requested the truck and trailer be disconnected and they would make the necessary arrangements to have their own service provider complete services neededOur operators honored the customer's request and disconnected the truck and trailer in a safe locationOnce we presented the completed invoice amount due explaining the rates set by the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the customer decided minutes later (no waiting time charged) to have both pieces (truck and trailer) towed back to our facility for repairsWe then honored the customers second request hooking back up to both truck and trailer and towing both units to our facilityOnce at our (approximately Hours) facility repair technicians completed a full estimate and provided the customer a detailed breakdown and description of all costs and charges due (approximately Hours)The customer declined repairs (approximately Hours) and requested an estimate to have the truck only towed to New JerseyWe explained to the customer all current charges would need to be paid in full before the truck or trailer could leave our facilityA credit card authorization form was completed and we then processed the authorized paymentWe then explained to the customer our non-account or COD hourly rate (off Turnpike)It was made clear this hourly rate goes from the time we leave our home base location (*** *** *** ** Harrisburg, PA ***) until the time we return to our home base location (*** *** *** ** Harrisburg, PA ** ***)Hourly rates are per piece meaning one hourly rate to tow the tractor and a separate hourly rate to tow the trailerThis hourly rate includes, but is not limited to the following: connecting to power unit wrecker or tractor, air supply, caging brakes, removing and installing driveshaft, removing and installing axle shafts, securing cab extenders or fairings, securing all loose debris, safety chains and light bar installation and removalThe customer understood and acknowledged these rates requesting the tractor be towed from our facility to Pennsauken, NJThe customer asked if they could leave the trailer at our location until they had a driver available to pick it upWe explained to the customer we charge Storage per calendar day per piece, however if the trailer was picked up in a timely manner we would not charge them any storage feesAugust 31, we towed the tractor to Pennsauken, NJ as requested by the customerThe customer again completed another credit card authorization form, We then processed payment and handed the driver a copyWe feel the customer was treated more than fair and had ample opportunity to explore other service options for anything beyond our services removing the disabled truck and trailer from the Turnpike lanes of travelOn multiple occasions all charges were explained to the truck driver in person and the drivers point of contact *** ***We also provided the customer a $discount on Invoice: *** as we did not charge them our standard credit card processing feeI have attached a copy of the invoice in dispute (***) along with the signed credit card authorization forma.Sincerely,Robert WH&S Towing Service, Inc Operations Manager
