Hasty's Service Inc. Auto Repair Reviews (%countItem)

The company charged me to make repairs that they did not do correctly or fully and did nothing to rectify their mistakes after issues were brought up.
I had an appointment to have a tune up on 11/21/17. We also asked to have the heat fixed. I previously went to O'Rileys auto parts and asked for parts for a tune up. I purchased spark plugs and wires. I also needed my oxygrn sensor replaced. After looking at my car they said to fix yhe heat I would need a new thermostat. They also said my ignition switch was bad. I told them to go ahead and do the work. They quoted me at around $600.Upon the return of my vehicle, I turned it on. It took about 10 seconds of turning the key for my car to start up- which has never happened before. Also I turned on my heat and nothing happened. I immediately went back in and expressed my consern. They said the mechanic that worked on my car was not there so they didnt know what the problem was. They proceed to take off my dash so that I could hit one piece of metal on another piece of metal to hopefully turn on the heat. I told them this would work until I could find time to come back. When I came back around 12/14/17 I was told that the ignition issue was probably from an unrelated issue to the work they did. I asked if it was maybe the installation of a new ignition switch and without even having inspecting my vehicle they said no- that was a part of the routine tune up. Which I have never heard before. Also before they even inspected my vehicle they told me I would need a new blower motor to fix my heat and it would be roughly 200 more dollars. I expressed that the heat should have been fixed initially and I shouldn't have to pay for them misdiagnosis the heating issue. Not to mention their work has a warranty on it and yet they would not admit that the ignition issue may have been an error on their part. They replied by knocking $20 off the $200. I just left because I realized they had no intention of looking into the work they did to see if a mistake had been made. Upon looking at the receipt I noticed that many of the charges were not legitimate. The company said they completed a coolant flush- and charged me 19.96 for a gallon of coolant. I had had a coolant flush only 2 weeks before and they did not mention this to me before hand. Also I was charged $108 for an oxygen sensor and the most expensive one I can find for my car from nearby reputable auto sales companies is about $70.A thermostat gasket I was charged almost $8 for is found at most reputable auto part stores for $4 and the most expensive they have is 5.99. This company charged me 14.78 for a thermostat and in the auto sales stores this is sold for 7.99 on average. The most expensive one they have available is 12.99. I understand that the parts may be overpriced coming from the shop but given the fact that a thermostat (and gasket) was not the part needed to fix my heat and the coolant flush was unnessary, as well as the ignition coil was (potentially) improperly installed I should not have to pay for these parts. I have asked for the company to fix these mistakes but their tactic is to get me to pay for more repairs instead. They wanted 200 more to fix my heat and said that the ignition issue was probably because of a evac leak I previously had. I now have to find a different mechanic to fix all of this work and frankly I do not want to give this dishonest company a chance to cause further damage to my vehicle.

RE: Case ***, ***

Revdex.com,
In response to case ***, a 2004 Buick LeSabre with stated miles of 120,845 with questionable accuracy -- this vehicle was brought to Hasty's Complete Automotive on 11/21/2017 for the following customer concern(s):
1. No heat
2. Hard start, rough engine idle
The customer requested that we replace the ignition components due to time and age, and supplied said components for our facility to install. Typically, installing customer supplied parts is against our policy as we cannot guarantee quality, warranty, or authenticity. Per the customer request, we agreed to install the supplied parts and attempt to repair the heat issue as well. After we completed a free diagnostic test, we found several items needing replaced first in order to assess the future running condition. Upon completion of the ignition components and thermostat, to remedy the lack of heat, and ignition components supplied by the customer (in addition to an ignition coil), the vehicle's running operation was restored and the heat function at that time worked properly.

We also flushed the vehicles coolant system to ensure proper heat function at no labor charge to the customer, but only replaced the needed coolant from what was lost during the thermostat replacement.

When the customer picked up the vehicle, the blower motor was not functioning properly -- an item unrelated to any repairs completed. At no charge, we worked on the vehicle for --45 minutes and were able to restore the blower motors operation and advised the customer they would need to replace this part in the near future. We asked *** to return the vehicle to our facility the next business day so we could assess the heat and starting issue at no charge -- Selena did not return to our facility, nor did she call or inform us of any issue.

In summary, the vehicle in question is over 14 years old with a multitude of mechanical problems. We addressed the customers concerns and advised of future needed repairs. All parts and services performed were completed and authorized by the customer.

Thank you for your understanding as we consider our position to be correct, and this complaint addressed and closed.

Sincerely,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I asked for a tune up and brought products for my vehicle from O'Riley's Auto Parts, Which I still have the receipt from. They are not used or previously damaged. The company never told me that the heat issue may need further repairs after they replaced the thermostat. Over the phone they said to fix the heat the thermostat needed repair and for the price they listed, I would have heat in my car. They never said anything similar to "we need to fix this part and then it might work but you will need more work possibly after." The company told me that the heat was fixed and it was not. When asked to come back the next day- I told the mechanic that I was going out of town and he said to just bring the vehicle back when I returned, after all why should I have to inconvenience myself in finding time to return to this business so they can finish doing the work that I paid them to do. They offered to look at the heat for free because they know they did not correctly do what service was expected of them. I would consider this case closed if the company took one ounce of responsibility for the shoddy repairs done and made an attempt to rectify the situation, or make a show of effort to try. Instead they blame the customer who feels they have been tricked into funneling money into their business only to receive less than functional results. They blame the customer and question the customer's accuracy and honesty.I was overcharged for services that were either unnecessary or not completed correctly. I have spoken with other family members and community members and they have had similar issues with this business, so I know that the blame for this business' lack of professionalism should not be placed on only myself, despite the fact that my own stupidity led me to believe that paying a high price for repair would guarantee some sort of results in the performance of my heat and starting my car up.

For years I took my Mercedes and or BMW to the dealers...what an expensive process that was. I was always told that with Foreign / High Performance cars it was best to go the dealer. I then was told by a friend of mine who has a Jaguar that he had been using Hasty's for years, and never had a complaint. I tried Hasty's ans was more than pleased, and saved a LOT of money in the process. BTW, they have a new website with updated contact details. https://hastysautoservices.com/
