To whom it may concern. I  was made  aware of the problem the day before I left on vacation and to be quite honest with you it got buried on my desk, and simply lost. We will gladly refund her the portion sh is looking for. Sorry for any trouble. We hope this resolves this issue. [redacted]...

Review: On 2/19/15, I woke up to a temperature of 65 degrees in my home. Upon a suggestion from a friend, I called Haak Heating to come check out why it was so cold in my home. On 2/19/15, two representatives from Haak Heating came out to check why my furnace wasn't heating my home. While the representatives were in my home, I received a phone call from the owner of the company advising that my furnace filter was very dirty and that this was the reason that my home wasn't being heated. He advised that the representatives were going to replace my furnace filter and "clean the furnace" and that should fix the problem. The representatives replaced my furnace filter and "cleaned my furnace" and left my home. Upon returning from work at 5:30 pm (3 hours after the representatives left my home), the temperature in my home was still 65 degrees. I then contacted the owner of Haak Heating to ask why it wasn't getting warmer in my home. He advised that it would take several hours for the furnace to start working properly again and that if I wanted him to come out to look at my furnace, he could but that it would be pretty expensive because it was after hours. I told him I would wait, upon his advice, for the furnace to start "working properly" again.

The next morning, the temperature in my home was now 63 degrees, so I decided to call another furnace company. A representative from the 2nd furnace company came out and inspected my furnace. The representative advised that the representatives from Haak Heating didn't do anything other than change the furnace filter. He advised that the A-Coil was plugged tight and that the representatives from Haak Heating should have noticed this and cleaned the A-Coil. The representative from the second furnace company then cleaned the A-Coil and when I returned home from work that day, the temperature in my home was 68 degrees and the furnace was working properly. The representative from the second furnace company advised that it took him less than 30 minutes to clean out the A-Coil and that Haak Heating could have easily done the same thing but didn't.

I didn't make contact with Haak Heating again until I received a bill, which was due on 3/6/15. I looked over the bill and saw two charges: - "Change Furnace filter - for the amount of $35". and "Clean and Check Furnace - for the amount of $85", for a total amount due of $126.83 (after taxes).

Since I was advised by the 2nd furnace company that the furnace wasn't cleaned (this was also evidenced by the fact that the furnace wasn't working after Haak Heating left my home), I didn't understand the charge of "Clean and Check Furnace - $85".

After receiving this bill, I called Haak Heating and spoke with the owner. I told him that I didn't agree with the charges and that I was looking for resolution to our dispute. He advised that he would look into it and get back to me. 2 weeks later, I still hadn't heard anything back from Haak Heating to resolve the dispute, so I paid the bill. Even though I disputed the charges, I paid the bill because I didn't want this to go to collections and damage my credit. Most people would probably let it go, but I am a single mom and I don't have many financial resources available to me.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for the "Clean furnace" portion that I was charged for. Haak Heating didn't clean my furnace - they only changed my furnace filter, and then charged me for a service they didn't provide. I have a small child, limited financial resources and unfortunately have to rely on companies to follow ethical business practices. I'm hoping this dispute will be resolved because I feel that I was taken advantage of.
