Hackensack Auto Repair and Collision Reviews (1)

Review: I recently, 4/10/15, went to hackensack Repair for new brake pads and rotors for my car. I specifically asked for a certain type of brake pad ([redacted]) He gave me a quote, which was $260.00, and proceeded to install them. The next day I picked my car and noticed I could barely stop going 5mph down the road with out putting the brake almost to the bottom on the car floor. I drove my car around for a short while but decided to bring it back to the auto shop because something wasn't right. I spoke with the owner [redacted] and he said it takes a while for the brakes to be eased in. I went home and drove around for a short while longer. From experience I know it does take a short time to " bed in" brakes. However, this was not correct. I went to another mechanic for a second opinion on my car. The mechanic put my car on the lift and noticed my brake pads were put on backwards. Not only were they put on backwards but the pads were bronze in color. I know for a fact, and even called up [redacted] to confirm, that all [redacted] brakes have a gery metallic finish to them. Not only did [redacted] put on the wrong brakes, on backwards, but also broke my caliper. I drove back to [redacted] shop, Hackensack Auto, and I asked him ddi he touch the calipers? He denied that he did and I mentioned that they were broken. His response was " yeah so?" He got into my car for a FIRST test drive? two days after installing my brakes this was the first time he test drove the car. He was racing down the street at 50 mph and slamming my brakes to " break them in" as he put it. he said they should be fine and he didn't touch my brakes. I was not satisfied with his answer so I took it to a second mechanic for a third opinion. that mechanic inspected my car and said yes indeed he broke my caliper because there was fresh fluid leaking and a fresh break in the metal. I ran back to Hackensack Auto and demanded my money back. The owner [redacted] gladly gave me money in full with out any arguments. I still need new calipers which cost $275.00Desired Settlement: Since this mechanic broke my calipers, which is a safety issue (broken calipers could loose power to the barkes and I will not be able to stop) I went to a GOOD mechanic and he quoted me $275.00 for new calipers and lines. Why do I need new lines? Simply because I need my brakes bleed out and I am unable to because it's connected to the caliper which is broken. Again, this is a major safety issue with the unknown of my brakes failing all because incompetent mechanics aren't honest.
