In response to [redacted] three requests: 1) We were contracted to install new HVAC equipment, not to be able to tell [redacted] that a room may not get as cool as he would like it to be. The duct work is existing and it states in our contract, "Reconnect existing duct work to new plenum boxes and seal...

with duct sealer". Hackney will not come out and fix his existing duct work that has been on the house since the house was built in 1999 for free. 2) We came out to verify that all flue exhaust vents are double wall as [redacted] stated he was told. Both exhaust flues are double wall and pictures were taken. 3) We inspected the drains and the drain pans. As a courtesy we blew out his existing drain lines at no charge to make sure they were not plugged. The units have primary drain lines that are connected. The units have secondary emergency drain pans that are connected to drain lines as well. There is also emergency cut off switches on each unit which shut off the unit as a safety measure if the primary drain line clogs. Hackney Inc will not pay for [redacted]s bill with the other a/c company that he called on his own free will. We don't know exactly what the other company did to the units we installed. There has never been a water leak or drain issue as the other a/c company stated. If there was, there would have been a leak over the last 3.5 years since the original installation. Since [redacted] has chosen to use another a/c company for his service etc and it is unknown if they have altered our installation, Hackney Inc will no longer provide future service/repair. Hackney Inc has fulfilled all contractual obligations from the original installation 03/07/2014 and the labor warranty provided by Hackney Inc expired 03/07/2015. [redacted] has a remaining mfg warranty that can be used by any licensed a/c contractor.

[redacted] calls our company the last week of June 2017 and states his unit won't cool. He sends us a picture of his tstat and it shows the temp in his house is 77 degrees but set at 73. We explain that Arizona is also having record heat that week. He states he wants a technician to come out. Our...

technician arrives and checks the unit. Our tech tells [redacted] the unit is cooling properly. It was explained to [redacted] that sometimes a/c units act up intermittently. The next day, [redacted] calls our office and says unit isnt cooling at all. Another tech arrives and finds the unit cooling properly. Then a few days later, [redacted] goes to our company facebook page and leaves a 2 star review stating he is going to call another a/c company to look and fix the a/c unit. I responded to [redacted] that  since he stated he was going to call another a/c company to fix unit and left us a 2 star review, that we would no longer provide any future service or repairs. [redacted] states the other  company finds that a copper line has been pinched/kinked several times. The other a/c company has tried to fix this unit, all of a sudden there is a kinked line that appears to have been deliberately sabotaged and kinked/pinched with a tool in several places. It was [redacted]'s decision to have another a/c company over repair the unit. Now this other a/c company recommends to replace the a/c unit that is only 7 years old and still has 3 years of parts and labor warranty available? That is ridiculous and suspicious. Hackney Inc is not contractually obligated to service or repair this unit. [redacted] and this other a/c company blame our company kinked this copper line? These are allegations and the photos show obvious and deliberate sabotage to the unit. The unit was cooling when we arrived and when our technicians left. [redacted] was notified His [redacted] warranty policy number is #[redacted] that is through [redacted], not Hackney Inc.

I purchased at Master Cool from Drew the son of the owner for $2800.00 and was told by Drew that he would service the cooler himself for me and that is why I purchased the cooler from him, being I had 5 estimates and they were not the cheapest but I believed his hype. This was purchased in April 2015 and Drew did service at the end of the season but the start up for 2016 was a mess to get done. I had 3 different appointments, the first a no show, the second was cancelled and the third they sent someone (not Drew as promised) who knew nothing about starting up a cooler and I even had to supply the plumbers tape for water hook up and tell him step by step what to do.

My daughter also called to have her cooler started up and to get a estimate on a new one and she also had appointments cancelled and when they did send someone he had no idea what to do and had to send another person and of course he also did not know how to do the water hook-up and my daughter had to spend $85.00 for a plumber to come and do it for her. When she called to tell them that the first person didn't know what to do she was informed they would send someone else but that our business was not wanted and (Dallas, man on phone) said he would call Parker and Son for her and they would no longer do the start-up or shut down on my cooler which I just bought because owners son said he would always do that for me.

I have called 57 times in the last 3 months for Drew to call me and tell me what was going on and why he lied to me, because I never would have bought from a company that would not service what they sell....and of course he has not once called me back.

I feel disrespected and lied to.

It's spring and in Phoenix, AZ it's that dreaded time in preparation of our cooling system. That means looking for a reputable Heat and Air company that won't try to rip you off through up-selling.
I got a filler in my [redacted] bill that suggested AC companies that they have done some background work on. Even though [redacted] did some research, it's still a crap shoot as to the integrity and competence of the company you select.
Well I'm MORE THAN HAPPY to report my findings with Hackney Heat and Air. This is a company that has a couple of offices in AZ and CA. For me, this meant that Hackney's wasn't a fly-by-night group that would be out of business the next month.
I called and was greeted by a receptive person who was pleased to take my call and was patient enough to answer all my questions. I was able to be seen in 5 days (3 working days) from my call. They had a fixed rate for their 18 point inspection, this, a result of their association with the [redacted] referral program.
The service technician was well kept, mild mannered, and professional looking. He had no problems putting protective booties on when asked. He spent about 25 minutes in the attic / crawl space looking at 2 blower units. He spent about 25 minutes evaluating the 2 condenser units outside.
When done, there was NO pressured up-selling. I needed just a top-off of Freon. My previous experiences with other AC companies would have them suggest replacements of parts that wear over time, even when the replacement isn't needed. Hackney did not try to sell me additional parts and they were perfectly OK with the basic service I requested. This is VERY uncommon in the industry as the spring check-up is most companies' way to sell you something. Hackney did not participate in this deceptive practice.
I would highly recommend Hackney Heat and Air for your AC needs. I'm confident at this point that if they did suggest a part replacement that it would be warranted.
Great job guys. It's comforting to know that an honest and reputable AC repair service still exists in 2014.

Hackney is a very good company to deal with. They arrived on time completed the work they said and cleaned up before they left. The contract spelled out in plan English what they were going to and they ever went beyond what was required in little extras in work that made you know they were interested in you as a custumer.

My16 year old AC split system had a direct short on the compressor. It nearly caught on fire. Called Drew and he came out within hours. He brought two portable AC units over to get us through the weekend. I called several reputable company's for the best price . Hackney offered me an unbeatable price. It couldn't be matched by any other company out there. Drew explained the whole process and was very knowledgable and professional. I received $700 back from SRP In rebates. One for replacing with a new unit and the second was a duct seal rebate. the installers were on time very clean and did a great job with the install. I had a great experience with the whole process. Drew is very passionate about what he does and truly cares about his customers. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. AAA+ service.

I am so impressed with the kindness and professionalism of this company. I had got an estimate for $1700 to fix my furnace.. This man came and fixed the whole thing for $140. I am a single
Mom and clueless about furnaces and could have totally been ripped off. I am so happy I made the call to this company, my furnace is running great and they obviously have integrity! So great to find someone competent and trustworthy! Thank you so much! -[redacted] in New Hope

Prior to contracting with Hackney, I evaluated 4 others: [redacted], [redacted], [redacted] and lesser-known family owned HVAC company.

Needless to say, after speaking with Drew, I was convinced of his honesty, integrity and professionalism to get the job done well and have all the pre-work done. The pre-work recommended was to have inspections completed on duct work area, as well as some dry work completed. This was all done to spec, and the 3 options presented were to redo my ductwork and obtain the A/C system with it, obtain only a ductwork option or obtain an A/C system. I decided to replace my 14-yr. old unit and redo my ductwork as well -- I am quite happy with this result as well as the rebate option with APS which they provided me with. Drew is a great guy, technical, and knows what to do. Apart from being the business-owner of Hackney, I learned that he is also field-technician certified and much like a sargeant, he is out there on the battlefield with his guys, installing the system and duct work because as seldomly seen in this field which has become so commoditized- - he and his crew take pride in the customer service and professional output of his work! Highly recommend Drew and his team of HVAC/AC experts.
