That is because I did let her know immediately after the service that I was unhappy [redacted] also claims she tried contacting me after, in her response she says, "After a failed attempt to reach [redacted] after returning her call..." But I hadn't called her at first, I texted her times before I began calling herI never received a call from her, before or after I did begin calling herBut why didn't she call (or even text) me back within those weeks I had tried contacting her through text? This is in response to the complaint filed regarding 1/21/hair services*** contacted me by way of ***She chose me to do her
hair based off of my star rating on ***, and she liked my style of hair coloringI pride myself by always doing my best for every client with integrity and compassion and in return, I have a large client Rolodex of returning-happy-clientsThe day of ***' hair appointment she arrived minutes late. I had called her after minutes passed by, with no arrival -to see if she was lost and to express that I would need to reschedule her if she was much later- because I didnt want to rush her color serviceShe assured me she'd be right thereWhen *** arrived, it was now min behind scheduleUpon arrival we discussed the ombre color service I was to provideOmbre is a haircolor technique and styleEvery stylist has their own personal color style and it's a matter of taste, and what one likes. I always do my best to give my clients exactly what they are asking forThis can, but not often, isn't always effected by perception of what is being asked for vswhat is possible, considering the type\condition of hair being processed with colorI expressed my concerns and hesitations with what she was requesting for me to do to her hair- and how damaging it could be to her hair if she did not start taking better care of her hairDuring our consultation I learned that before that day, she had gone year without coloring or maintaining her hair, and didn't use conditioner for her hairAlso I took note while consulting - ***'s natural hair color is black and she had bleached her head herself which resulted her to have orange hair- that she did to her-self year ago, with no correction. Any person bleaching their head of hair without certified education is taking a risk in the long term poor quality of their hairAfter our Indepth consultation I provided her with suggestions and with her request to proceed, I was able to provide what I felt was a good fit for her hairI provided custom haircolor and tones to complement her current haircoloring and provided a complementary deep conditioning service as a " Happy Birthday present." ( she was celebrating her birthday) After the hair color was complete we were pleased that her then orange bleached head of hair now looked custom and "ombré" When the hair service was complete, *** was excited that her hair was conditioned and she had custom professional hair colors and a new updated styleI take great pride in my finish work and style, and I always ask my clients how they would like their hair styled that day*** wanted to have her hair styled curly, and that is what I providedWe took pictures and celebrated her pretty new birthday hair togetherI ended the hair service with my final recommendations based on the clients current condition of her hair and the home care to keep her hair in the healthiest condition possible (another service I always provided for all my clients, complementary) - so that the client can protect the investment of her hair. I can only educate and suggest the products that I recommend -to protect the hair- it's ultimately up to the client to use the education provided.
I am sorry to hear that *** is unhappy with the hair service that I providedI did not hear from *** until 4 weeks had passed by from her appointment with me. It is disturbing to recieve this notice and filed complaint that *** is so unhappy and that she felt it necessary to contact you. Had I known immidiatly after the service that I provided, that she was unhappy, I would have gladly invited her back in to see meAfter a failed attempt to reach *** by returning her call, Im confused as to her extreme measures. Being a hairstylist and business owner is a very personal and gratifying profession and I am honored to create hair designs for my clientsWith that being said, I do not feel that my style of hair coloring design is a good fit for ***I understand what she is requesting from meI do not feel that my services and haircolor styles are compatable to what she is requesting.
I will not be refunding this clients money for the following reasons:
1) Unrealistic expectations of what she wanted in color style
2) *** did not contact me until 4 weeks laterIf her hair was in any distress, I cannot vouch for what she has done to her hair while out of my presents*** left my salon that day, happy and excited about her new hair.
3) I hope *** finds a stylist\salon to better suite her needs, and wish her the best of luck. I did the best I could in my professional opinido what I could for this client with the above named circumstances

After reading miss [redacted]'s response to my complaint, I came across things that I feel I need to clarify. The day of my appointment, I arrived no later than 10 minutes late. Which upon arriving she said I was 15 minutes late. But in her response, she now claims I arrived 30 minutes late. Durring the consultation, I showed her pictures of what I wanted done to my hair, and the color I wanted. Her response that day was yes, that she could get it that color. Not once did she express concern over not being able to get it that color, she was quite confident in her ability to do so, since she is a professional afterall. She also mentioned in her response that I had bleached my hair. A year ago when I did color my hair myself, I did not use bleach. Prior to her service, my hair was a light brown, not orange as she said. In [redacted]'s response, she also claims that "we" were pleased with the "ombre" she did, but it is actually not an ombre. It seems as if she just dyed the top layer of my hair, minus the back side. As my hair clearly has no color towards the back. I understand that her style of "ombre" is different, but before she began I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she said she could get it to how I asked. [redacted] also claims in her response that I waited 4 weeks to contact her to fix my hair. I texted her Jan. 22nd, a day after my appointment. She said she could do "next Saturday". which would be the 31st of January. Unfortunately I had to work that day. So I then contacted her that Monday, February 2nd. In the period of roughly 4 weeks I tried contacting her multiple times. Therefore, it was not 4 weeks later as she claims. In her response, she also says, "Had I known immediately after the service that I provided, that she was unhappy, I would have gladly invited her back to see me..." After the service was completed, I did bring to her attention that it was too orange and that I did not like it. She said it was not orange, that it was a sunkissed color, but that if I didn't like it I could come back and she would fix it. If I hadn't mentioned to her that I was dissatisfied, why would she offer for me to come back to have it fixed? That is because I did let her know immediately after the service that I was unhappy. [redacted] also claims she tried contacting me after, in her response she says, "After a failed attempt to reach [redacted] after returning her call..." But I hadn't called her at first, I texted her 3 times before I began calling her. I never received a call from her, before or after I did begin calling her. But why didn't she call (or even text) me back within those 3 weeks I had tried contacting her through text? I called and left voicemails when she wasn't answering my calls; If she had tried reaching me, why wouldn't she leave a voicemail? Or even a text, since according to her, it was a failed attempt to reach me. The point is, I never received a call from [redacted]. I understand that she is a busy woman, as I am also, but if she really wanted to take care of her client, she could have sent a simple text. Her reasons as to why she refuses to refund my money are disturbing. She says they were "unrealistic expectations", well if that was the case, why did she tell me and make me believe she could get it to what I wanted? Another reason of hers is that I contacted her 4 weeks later. Well, luckily I have proof to prove that what she claims is not the case. There are dates and times of the  times (within those 4 weeks)  I tried contacting her that prove I did try reaching her, prior to the 4 weeks. She also says that she cannot vouch for anything I did to my hair out of her presence. Well I can guarantee that I did absolutely nothing to my hair. I wanted to have it exactly as she had left it, so that she can make a professional decision as to what she needed to do to fix it, as she had said she would. I did not want to tamper with her work. All in all, as a consumer I was treated unfairly. I am immensely dissatisfied. [redacted], I honored your professionalism and expected the utmost service and quality, but I was mislead and as a result am hurt by all of this.

Review: I went to [redacted] or Hair By Nancy, on the 21st of January to get my hair dyed; an ombre style to be exact. Before she began, we went over what I wanted done. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and what color I wanted my hair to be. Once she was finished, I noticed that it wasn't the color I had wanted. It was too orange, or as they call it in the beauty industry, "brassy." I expressed to her I wasn't too happy with the outcome. Since I had arrived about 8 minutes late to my appointment, [redacted] said I could come back and she would fix it because she had ran out of time to do so. Well after she had said that, she still spent another 20 minutes or so curling my hair because she wanted to take pictures of it. She also spent some time trying to convince me to buy her hair products and then lead me outside so she could snap several pictures of my hair. Instead of styling my hair, selling her product, and taking pictures, I would have much rather her fix the color of my hair since she knew I wasn't pleased with it. But she was too concerned with taking pictures to post on her social media. I have called and texted [redacted] several times and have left voicemails, but she has not contacted me at all. My hair is a complete disaster. It is orange, not blond. There are patches of color throughout my hair, and a big black spot with no hair dye on the back of my head. I payed $165 for her service, and the quality of the work she did on my hair really does not reflect that price. I've had close friends and family honestly tell me that the work she did on my hair is not of good quality. Its actually quite ugly. Not only do I not like it, others around me notice the bad quality of her work on my hair also. In conclusion, I was excited about changing my hair. I had an image of beautiful hair in my head. Unfortunately, by going to Hair by Nancy, I ended up with a very unpleasant hair dye job. I payed so much for such bad quality. All I wanted was for her to fix my hair, but I couldn't even get a simple text back.Desired Settlement: All I wanted was for [redacted] to fix my hair like she said she would. After over a month of trying to contact her, I have come to realize that that she isn't going to do it. I would really appreciate a refund of my money.

Response:

This is in response to the complaint filed regarding 1/21/2015 hair services. [redacted] contacted me by way of [redacted]. She chose me to do her hair based off of my 5 star rating on [redacted], and she liked my style of hair coloring. I pride myself by always doing my best for every client with integrity and compassion and in return, I have a large client Rolodex of returning-happy-clients. The day of [redacted]' hair appointment she arrived 30 minutes late. I had called her after 15 minutes passed by, with no arrival -to see if she was lost and to express that I would need to reschedule her if she was much later- because I didnt want to rush her color service. She assured me she'd be right there. When [redacted] arrived, it was now 30 min behind schedule. Upon arrival we discussed the ombre color service I was to provide. Ombre is a haircolor technique and style. Every stylist has their own personal color style and it's a matter of taste, and what one likes. I always do my best to give my clients exactly what they are asking for. This can, but not often, isn't always effected by perception of what is being asked for vs. what is possible, considering the type\condition of hair being processed with color. I expressed my concerns and hesitations with what she was requesting for me to do to her hair- and how damaging it could be to her hair if she did not start taking better care of her hair. During our consultation I learned that before that day, she had gone 1 year without coloring or maintaining her hair, and didn't use conditioner for her hair. Also I took note while consulting - [redacted]'s natural hair color is black and she had bleached her head herself which resulted her to have orange hair- that she did to her-self 1 year ago, with no correction. Any person bleaching their head of hair without certified education is taking a risk in the long term poor quality of their hair. After our Indepth consultation I provided her with suggestions and with her request to proceed, I was able to provide what I felt was a good fit for her hair. I provided custom haircolor and tones to complement her current haircoloring and provided a complementary deep conditioning service as a " Happy Birthday present." ( she was celebrating her birthday) After the hair color was complete we were pleased that her then orange bleached head of hair now looked custom and "ombré" When the hair service was complete, [redacted] was excited that her hair was conditioned and she had custom professional hair colors and a new updated style. I take great pride in my finish work and style, and I always ask my clients how they would like their hair styled that day. [redacted] wanted to have her hair styled curly, and that is what I provided. We took pictures and celebrated her pretty new birthday hair together. I ended the hair service with my final recommendations based on the clients current condition of her hair and the home care to keep her hair in the healthiest condition possible (another service I always provided for all my clients, complementary) - so that the client can protect the investment of her hair. I can only educate and suggest the products that I recommend -to protect the hair- it's ultimately up to the client to use the education provided.
