Hair Goddess Salon and Extensions Reviews (1)

Jessica [redacted] first came to Hair Goddess Salon & Extensions on 9/15/17 for a hair extension consultation with Alicia [redacted]. At a extension consultations all new clients fill out a form that tells me more about their hair, products they use, medications they maybe taking, and many more questions....

In that form Jessica does state she suffers from hair loss but does not disclose what specially. During the consultation she does verbally disclosing she is diagnosed with [redacted] (A disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out body hair.) I did inform her that I’ve never had a client with such diagnosis and wasn’t sure if extensions were the right option for her. She reassured me she had done her research and asked what I thought was the best application of extensions for her. I suggested the micro beaded option for multiple reason being no heat, no glue, reusable, and the least damaging.  She also agreed and said she thought the same from her research. I go over all pros and cons of all extensions. We talk about the care of the extensions, maintenance, the cost after the first appointment, and make sure the client understands they have a job and that is to take care of their extensions. From that I determine how much hair is needed for her desired look, price that out and deliver her a estimate for micro beaded extensions for her hair. We discussed applying 2 extensions in her hair to see how she did with them before proceeding forward with a full head. I installed the 2 extensions both on the left side of her head where she described was her “problem area”. Jessica signed documentation saying she understands how to take care of the extensions and that she knows the risk of having them in and what can happen if she pulled them out. She also took a printed copy of Home Care Instructions. We discussed staying in contact to see how she did and if she wanted to proceed forward. Jessica contacted me the next week to have the extensions checked and remove because she was wanting to proceed with a full head of micro beaded extensions if the 2 pieces looked okay. She came in, I removed the 2 pieces and saw absolutely no damage what so ever in just the few days to her natural hair other then the few pieces of shed that will always naturally occur when the hair is locked into place weather it be a bead in the situation or a pony tail, braid, and every other type of extension. After removing the extensions Jessica told me she would be in contact with me if she wanted to proceed with the Non-Refundable Deposit. (The hair and micro beads) (The deposit allows me to order the hair custom to the clients wants/needs/current hair) (Once I place the hair order I can not return it to the maker, that is 100% the clients. (All mentioned back at the initial consultation.) On 9/22/17 Jessica contacted me to proceed forward with the Non-Refundable deposit via email invoice. Total of $495.00 On 10/6/17 Jessica had her installation of micro beaded extensions. At that appointment I go over how to properly take care of the extensions now that they are in the hair and you can physically feel them. I can not stress enough to clients about babying their hair. Treat it like gold. I can not go home with every client and do their hair every day so I have no idea if they follow my guide and my direction. I can only cross my finger and hope for the best at their maintenance appointment. At the end of the appointment I have the client sign a few forms acknowledging the service that were had performed, the pros and cons, and that all services are final. There are no refunds. I stressed to her that I wanted to see her around the 4 week mark for her maintenance due to her diagnosis. I took before and after pictures to document my work. She signed all documentation agreeing she understood and that I could use her picture for my social media page. Installation cost of $160 I reached out to Jessica 5 weeks later to remind her that she was due for her first move up. She got back to me indicating that it was busy week for her and that she thought her hair looked good. A few days later Jessica contacted me again indicating a extension had came out with her hair attached. I called her back and reassured her it was okay but  their was nothing I could do in that instant (I had a client in my chair) and that we needed to set her maintenance appointment up asap. Her maintenance appointment was 11/14/17.(6 weeks later) During that appointment I remove row by row unlocking each row, comb out the shed and re-apply a brand new bead and reuse the same piece of extensions. (Reusable upto 6 months) I did such to Jessica’s whole head and did notice a few spot threw out her head with some pulling and thinning and the one spot where the hair was pulled out a few days prior. I always address this with my clients so they can either correct it or remove the extensions if this is not for them. During this appointment Jessica does indicate she is on medication, which can cause brittle hair, loss, breaking and thinning. During this appointment Jessica never indicates she wanted to take the extensions out or that she is worried. I remind her once hair extension is pulled out with hair on it I can not physically put that back. If the hair follicle does not have trauma the hair may grow back. Jessica had normal shedding threw the rest of her head from the wearing of the micro beaded extensions. (put your hair in a pony for 5 weeks and not brush it! A LOT OF SHED WILL COME OUT, THAT’S NATURAL)  Maintenance cost of $175 On 11/21/17 Jessica contacted me indicating she had her extensions removed by another salon and that she wanted a refund. Jessica never contacted me prior the 7 days from the maintenance appointment indicating she had any problems instead she went and found another salon to removed them. (Once another salon touches my work I cant guarantee anything. They could be improperly removed.(Not all hair stylist do extensions. It’s a continued education) There is always the potential of Client damage. (Suffering from [redacted]) I do hold multiple certifications to do extensions with 10 years of experience.    Inclusion the micro beaded extension method is the most popular type of extensions on the market and most widely used. I chose this method for Jessica because it ultimately was the best method for her. Of course one hair stylist may think the same and another may think different. Jessica did not come to me because she was a hair model, she came to me with a medical diagnosis and wanted help with that and having more hair. I gave her exactly that. In the end how she took care of her is all her responsibility. I preformed the services to the highest of my ability and believe I did so. No I do not think Jessica [redacted] should receive a refund.   Total Hair Cost- $495 (She has this and can continue to reuse it) Install-$160 Maintenance-$175             Total-$830     Attached is the Consultation Form, Price quote. Receipt of non-refundable deposit. 2 hair extension release forms and picture form. Before picture, and after picture.     Sincerely, Alicia [redacted] Hair Goddess Salon & Extensions
