Hair We R Reviews (1)

Review: I went in on Sat. Oct. 26, 2013 to get my hair foiled by Patricia (Patty) Mongold, a red color that I had back in 2000. I even brought in a photograph of myself with the color that I wanted again. I paid $80.50 ($70 + $10.50 tip) and she only foiled the top half of my dark hair and left the bottom uncolored. NOT WHAT I WANTED. Under the lights in her shop I couldn't really tell what my hair looked like. The top half of my hair hung over the bottom of my hair so when I looked in the mirror it appeared that maybe all of my hair was colored. I wasn't sure about the color of red either, but there were customers in the shop and I couldn't really talk about it, and I thought maybe it was just the lights and that when I got home or looked at it in the sunlight that it would look like the picture.I called her as soon as I got home and told her that the color of red was definitely not the color I wanted, it was a bright red and not an auburn and the bottom half of my hair wasn't even colored. I told her I wasn't satisfied. I gave her the opportunity to fix my hair or give me my money back. The only solution she had to fix it was to color it back to my original very dark brown hair. She said that because I've been coloring my own hair that color wont lift color and she said that she didn't give refunds. I said, hair dressers have to deal with people that color their own hair for years; and they have lightened hair because you are suppose to lift my color first before you apply the new color. (I don't think she knew that I knew this).I then suggested that coloring my hair back to my natural dark color wasn't going to fix my problem and that I asked another hair stylist if she could fix my hair and she said she would be willing to fix it for just the price of her product; would she be willing to at least pay the other stylist the price of her product to fix what she wouldn't fix. She said, No, that she wasn't arguing with me, that I was indecisive and I wasn't welcome back in her shop.Desired Settlement: Since I tried every option possible for Patty to fix my hair and she refused to satisfy coloring my hair the way I wanted her to color it and she refused a refund or a credit toward the product for another stylist to fix my hair; I would like a full refund of $80.50

Response:

[redacted] came to the shop with a picture of her hair colored all over. We never discussed coloring her head all over. We decided to foil her hair. She didn't want it all over but wanted red foils. We then picked out a color together and she agreed on it. I foiled her hair and cut and styled her hair. She really liked her hair. She stood in the mirror looking at it and loved it. I have several customers and a licensed stylist that seen her hair and that she liked it. We have a new shop and the lighting is wonderful. She left and called me several hours later to say her hair was red. I told her yes it was, that's the color we picked out. We then hung up and I thought everything was fine. Later that night [redacted] message me on facebook. We discussed her hair and I told her we could go back darker if she liked. I always try to go that extra mile to please my clients. She then told me she went to another stylist and had a list of things that I could do. She told me a lot of negative things. I decided it would be best not to touch her hair anymore because she is very indecisive. I did exactly what we talked about doing to her hair.I have been doing hair for 13 years without a complaint. I do not give refunds because I did nothing wrong. I have a wonderful reputation and would do anything to make my clients happy but I believe [redacted] would not be happy with anything I did. She has bad mouthed me on Facebook, Yelp, and Google that I know of. I do not feel I owe her anything.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Pictures DO NOT LIE… I showed her a picture of my hair colored

all over in an auburn red I said I wanted it like this picture except foiled

all over to give it a more highlighted red effect.

How could she say I was being indecisive? I brought a picture of myself with the color

that I wanted except a little lighter red. (Attached is the picture that I showed her and what my hair looked like afterwards, and what I wanted my hair to look like after [redacted] fixed it.) … As

we looked through the book… it was narrowed down to two colors… I was leaning

more toward a more auburn red… but she picked the redder red… and I was

concerned at that point… but since I was not familiar with that type of color…

and she was the hair stylist, she said, “It will look like the picture when we’re

done.” As, I was sitting in the chair, I

was commenting how I really don’t like it when girls have their hair two

different shades with the top a different color than the bottom. That’s why I was so SURPRISED when the

finished result was EXACTLY what I specifically told her I didn't want. I don’t know how the licensed stylist or the

customers could say that I liked it… because the way the shop is laid out, they

would not have been able to see me and especially hear what I was saying

standing in front of the mirror… now when I was sitting down in the chair… I

can see into the waiting room. But when

she asked if I liked it… I said, “Well, I’m not sure… ahhhh, I guess so… Then

she started asking more about the cut… I said, “Yes, I think I like the cut.” And everyone knows that it doesn't matter if

it’s a new shop or a new store or not… lights can make your hair look different…

and I wasn't bending over and leaning up close to the mirror and inspecting my

hair.

I CALLED

her right away after I got home after I inspected my hair... I live right behind her shop... so it took me like 2 minutes to get home... I probably called her within 30 minutes if not before, I told her I wasn't happy with my hair and it was REAALLYY red, she did say, well it's the color we picked..., I said, "Yes, but I told you I was concerned about the color that you leaned me toward, then I told her... and you didn't even color all of my hair??? The bottom and the roots are still dark." She just brushed me off, saying, "Well, that's what you picked." I said, "Well, I need my hair fixed." She said, "I did exactly what you wanted." Then I called and text a friend of mine, Danny Vandevander, that knew her cell number, but Patty must have already talked to Danny and told him not to give it to me. He was being unusually rude, saying just call her Monday... I said, "I can't because her shop is closed on Mondays, and I really need to talk to her about my hair."

So, the only resort I had was to contact her through her Facebook email. She doesn't have a set time on Saturdays that she closes… she originally told me she

would be there until 2 pm that day… but after I went by [redacted]'s

house, a stylist who has been doing hair for over 25 years to show her… to see

if she thought I was over reacting… she said, “No… she could tell that she didn't lift the color properly and that if I had brought the photo in and told her

that I wanted it foiled all over to give this color of red effect… she would

know exactly what I meant. Since [redacted] and Patty know each other, and when

Patty first started doing hair and years after doing hair, Patty would still

call [redacted] to ask her, “Now, how do I do this… when it came to color.” [redacted], wrote down some suggestions that

Patty could do to fix it. I immediately went to her shop, it was 1:45 pm, but her shop was already closed.

In the emails that I originally attached with

my original complaint you can tell she doesn't go the extra mile and who was being unprofessional and unwilling to make things right. I have not bad mouthed her, but just reported

exactly what happened to me and showed the before and after pictures on Facebook of what my hair looked like after Patty did it and then what it looked like after [redacted] fixed it. She says, I said a lot of negative things? You have our entire conversations that transpired that evening over email. You can tell that I never said anything negative, but was only professional.

By the emails and the pictures you can tell who was telling the truth... There would be NO way, I would have been satisfied with this. Please, I appeal that you make Patty Mongold do the right thing and refund my $80.50.

Regards,

Business

Response:

I will not do anything in reguards to [redacted]s complaint .I feel I have done what is necessary. She is not telling the truth .Our mutual fried I am not going to bring into this because I have more respect for him but if the Revdex.com would like a letter from him telling what kind of person she is I can get it. As far as hairdressers go we always ask each other questions thats the key to being a great stylist to learn all you can. I AM VERY SORRY WE COULD NOT WORK THINGS OUT BUT IN LIFE SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO EVEN IF EVERYONE IS NOT HAPPY WITH THE DECISION.
