Customer wanted to cancel service and therefore billing for the service. In order to cancel the billing, the transmitter must be shut down. Most licensed companies know this and take care of it while taking over a system. That was not going to happen in this case. In order to cancel as requested, we took care of it. As far as it costing us money; any charges for transmission would have been passed on to customer under contract. So it is the customer that saved money by allowing the transmitter to be turned off. I do not know who the customer spoke to but this is all standard procedure. The only thing I can think of is that when he called in, our employee may not have realized that there was a radio transmitter on this account and must have called back once he realized we needed to shut it down. There may have been a misunderstanding because no one in our office would have said that there would not be a service charge for responding to cancel the service as requested

The only reason they came out to disconnect is because it was going to cost them money if it continued to transmit They asked if they could come in and I asked if there would be a charge for this and they said no, because they needed to disconnect for their benefit They then sent me a refund with a service charge deducted from the check which is not what they said up front

Customer did cancel with us but had a radio alarm transmitter in his property that continues to transmit until shut down.  To shut down the radio, either his new company or our company must respond to shut down the radio.  We charge $79 per hour 24/7.  To respond to his property to...

shut down the radio resulted in a standard service charge.  This is a misunderstanding of the requirements to cancel.  Our contract also requires a 30 day notice which we did not hold the customer to honor.  We accepted his request immediately. As a side note.  Customer has switched to an unlicensed company  doing business in MA facing a court challenge after being served orders to stop operating in MA until securing licensing.  Their pricing is lower for monitoring.  I do not know if they can match our low service rate price. We do not agree that the $79 is owed to the customer.
