Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2015/05/21) */
My response is downloaded, and hope for a resolution
(Revdex.com - converted from originalSee document file.)
The customer called concerning leaks from the roof at her homeWe were made aware of this in October of Upon inspection, we
observed that the previous roofers, that installed her yr old roof, had put a dimensional shingle on a flat roof which is illegalYou have to have at least a 3-pitch in order to install an asphalt shingleWe suggested that the customer contact the previous roofing companyCustomer stated that she had contacted them and they were no longer in business and that she was going to pursue action with themIn the meantime, we repaired her roof, rebuilt trusses and installed the proper shingle to match the rest of the roof as close as possible
We discussed with customer, at that time, that we needed to rebuild the back section of the roof in order to get the proper slopeThe customer stated she had leaks in the ceiling of the back bedroomWe replaced the bedroom ceiling and repainted itThere was additional siding and soffit repair neededThe customer stated that she had didn't have any additional funds and that she was not willing to have any additions madeHall's Total Home paid for the siding and fascia out of pocketDuring the coldest part of the year (February 2015), the customer called and stated she had a leakUpon inspection we found that there was major ice damming that had moved up past the ice and water barrier approximately inchesIce was getting up underneath the shingle and on the interior leak was approximately inches where the ice had surpassed the ice and water barrierHall's Total Home advised the customer of the problem and what the necessary repairs would beOur contract specifically states we do not cover damages/repairs due to ice damming or acts of GodThe customer became irate and believed we should fix repairs and fix her bedroom ceiling under warrantyWe explained the root cause of the damage again, also pointing out specifically that the gutters were completely full of debris and that lack of proper maintenance would cause the ice dammingThe customer stated that she assumed we had also pursue GAF, the shingle manufacturer, for a refund of the original issueWe further explained that there was not a product failure - the issue was with the prior roofing companyWe stated that the GAF shingle did not fail, the installers failed to properly install the roofThe customer stated that she was going to take legal actionHall's Total Home then spoke with her lawyer and came to an agreement in which we would repair the bedroom ceiling and repaint as an act of good faith towards our customerIn the meantime, we received numerous phone calls from other roofing professionals that she had contacted to come inspect her roofThey all independently stated the roof was installed correctly, with exception to the chimney flashing and other specific parts of the roof that were never part of the repair done by Hall's Total HomeWe contacted the customer to arrange the repairs to bedroom ceiling as agreed upon and were advised by the customer that she was not going to allow accessThe customer continued to insist that we were responsible for the issues with her roof and demanded we make all of the repairsWe stated that there is not a warranty issue with her roofThe water damage was caused by ice dammingIce damming is caused by many factors and is a serious issue for a homeownerThis particular area has been hit hard over the winters but it is not due to workmanship or product-relatedIt has happened throughout the area this year and it is not in our controlAs far as Hall's Total Home is aware, there is no issue with any part of the roof repaired by our company and no evidence of leaking prior to the ice damming or to this date in time under rain conditionsWe have done a significant amount of work for this customer over the years and value her businessWe are willing to do what we can to accommodate our customer and have tried to make arrangements to fix the areas we addressed aboveThe customer is not willing to reason and the only solution she has to offer is not logicalIn addition, the customer believes we were responsible to submit warranty information to GAF, the shingle manufacturer, solely because Gregg Hall -owner of Hall's Total Home, wrote on the quote, the amount of money the customer should recover from her roof install if she ever pursued legal action against the original installation (years prior)It was nothing more than a reference point for the customer to make note ofHall's Total Home has separate contractsWe are responsible for ongoing warranties of work done by our company and specifically outlined per the contractWe do not honor other roofing company work or make any guarantee of product performanceHall's Total Home is required to act as a personal advocate for a customer in matters of dispute with another business nor is it the responsibility of Hall's Total Home to ensure a customer is reimbursed for faulty workmanshipWe are happy to assist our customer with their needs under these circumstancesHall's Total Home is certainly willing to step up to the plate and come to a mutual agreement if possibleHall's Total Home stands behind our work as well as our warrantyWe have been diligent in our efforts to resolve this with our customerIn closing, Hall's Total Home regrets that Marion is left feeling as though we have failed herWe believe we have done our best to accommodate her and give her the best product and workmanship availableHall's Total Home would like to maintain its solid reputation with our customer base as well as the Revdex.com and are willing to do what we can to resolve this issue, assuming there are mutually respectable limitationsPlease feel free to contact me directly if you require any additional information
Sincerely,
Greggory SHall

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 17, 2015/10/22) */
This customer has lead us to believe that worked performed will be paid for but the work that has been done created issues with every worker and sub on site, which we have tried our best to accommodate every issue brought up
We have spent
dollors over the job cost to try to make this right with this customer to only create new issues everytime.I told Mr.*** that were not to go any further in debt because we see no end in sight or payments and completed work they wont pay for.Customer has created more issues with a job to only bennifit him self.Companies can only swallow so much of this before at some point have to give in.We spoken about every issue in detail that the money owed to HTH is well above and beyond what there stating isn't done.If this customer would step up and pay for work to be accomplished we would have or will do anything in our power to help them out
We has sent multiple licensed plumbers to sight to be approved by city and to only end up in a argument with the customer, threats of Revdex.com using them to get what they want to not pay bills do,on top of that waisting all resources of county and us to make issues to get more than paid for on this project.I am sure if we didn't stop this that we would be in the position to loose more than we have,HTH would be more than willing to have mediation with all parties involved including my subs that nearly walked off jobs because of the arguments
sincerely HTH
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 19, 2015/10/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Greg Hall created the situation he is inI have the documentation from the city of Ravenna proving he did not get a plumbing permit before pouring the basement floorGreg was paid in full by me for the aboveThe city inspector , not me , forced him to dig up the concrete floor to expose the plumbingThe city inspector failed the plumbing job, again not meThe city inspector agreed the plumbing exiting the home is not the correct pitchGreg did hire a plumber to fix the sewer line which passed inspection but he left several failed plumbing issues that have not been repaired and the concrete floor that has already been paid for is still not repairedGreg's cost overruns are his own doing, the city inspector agreed this could have been avoided had Greg pulled a permit and had it inspectedGreg is not being a fair or an honest contractor if expects me to pay him a second time for the drainage and to pour the basement floor again, that's absurdGreg agreed to do the work for a contracted set price and if he makes any errors along the way he should correct them
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 22, 2015/10/26) */
In addition when Greg completed work on a basement wall it was discovered that he did not put the wall back to its original location leaving a main floor beam for our kitchen unsupportedHis solution to this was for me to purchase a jack post to put under itThis is not acceptable, the beam should rest on the wall as it did before
I have saved and put on a disc all of Greg's text messages and emailsSome of which he apologizes for his employees poor workmanship and he even admitted in a text that he fired the employee who incorrectly installed our plumbingGreg must have forgotten that I save all of his messages
Final Business Response /* (4000, 24, 2015/11/04) */
HTH would be more than willing to bring back in our plumber and team to finish anything agreed on,but here is were we stand, everything and anything completed needs to be current with paymen, the overages on deck, the changes customer wanted from origanaland all future needs in writing with proper deposit
Customer needs to agree to meet us half way with changeovers and additions from original. We did times the work involved from original with out any compensation for it
If customer would want proof we are willing to produce reciets and cost to this point
The biggest issue here is customer demanding more and more with out any compensation along with adding into quotes verbally.HTH is willing to move forward with everything caught up and in writing to finish. At some point businesses have to be compensated for there work. The only reason this has been a year is the constant changing and go back to make father happy.(which we came to decision after different men and subs on site.We cant make him happy for what he will pay for,and no one deserves arguments every day working. We will honor this at any point in time tim wants to sit down and go over what is fair
