Review: On December [redacted] I dropped my car off to Hallelujah Automotive service shop to fix a heating problem. The [redacted], told me that it would cost $400.00 to fix it. I agreed to that price for the job he described to me at that time. I came back to pick it up the same day two hours later and the heating worked for a short time and broke again. I went back to the shop saying that the heating was not fixed and [redacted] told me that the inner core needed to replace which was a much bigger job. That would be much too expensive for me so I agreed for him to flush the system with no extra cost after the $400.00. He agreed to this so I left my car and he would not return my calls for three days. I received no update calls and I had no idea what was going on with my vehicle. When he finally called three days later to pick it up, [redacted] replaced the entire heating system and charged me an additional $650.00 for it. I was outraged because I did not agree to this and I did not have the money to pay for the job but I was forced to. [redacted] was extremely rude and disrespected my wishes, performing a job that I did not want and could not afford. I paid the fees and I believe I am entitled for a refund because he took advantage of me as a customer. [redacted] took advantage of me as a customer and did not consult with me at all while fixing my vehicle. He acted in self interest and was not considerate of my situation. He was extremely rude to me as he spoke. He kept threatening to give me my money back and take the car somewhere else. I gave him a chance to fix his mistake but then he completely disrespected my wishes.Desired Settlement: I just want his terrible service reported and to stay in his record. And if possible, I wish for him to take out the new part that he put in and to refund me the $650.00 I was charged.

Response:

[redacted]'s daughter and my daughter had been friends since elementary school; this relationship likely created a heightened expectation for the services rendered to [redacted]. The service provided to him was standard service due to all valued customers.[redacted] brought his vehicle in complaining that the heat was not functioning. I checked the vehicle and found that the coolant system was full of sludge and the radiator was clogged. At the time of inspection, [redacted] verified that the radiator was clogged. I advised him that the radiator needed to be replaced and the coolant system needed to be flushed in order to proceed with restoring the heat. [redacted] gave me permission to perform the service on the radiator. After the radiator was replaced and the system was flushed the heat on the passenger side of the vehicle was operating at 80% while the car was idle and 0% on the driver side - at 2500 RPM the heat on the passenger side was operating at 100%, and 30-40% on the driver side. At this point the services performed included: radiator replacement, thermostat replacement, and coolant flush totaling $400.01. The vehicle's mileage was 76,402 miles at the time of release. At this time I advised [redacted] that the heater core would need to be replaced if he wanted the heat to operate at full capacity. I advised him that the vehicle would be safe to drive without replacing the heater core. He stated that he wanted the problem to be fixed and accused me of replacing the radiator indiscriminately. I informed him that we could remove the parts that were replaced and he could receive a full refund.[redacted] replied by asking me if there was anything else I could do, insisting that he wanted the partially functioning heat to be repaired to function at full capacity.I told him that we could try using a special solution to attempt to wash out the system more thoroughly, with no guarantees. As he requested, I filled the system with the radiator flush and he drove his vehicle for the weekend. [redacted] came back with his vehicle after the weekend complaining that the heat was still not functioning at 100%, so I followed by flushing the coolant system for 3-4 hours the first day, and another 3-4 hours on the second day. After 2 days of flushing the coolant system for 6-8 hours, the heat was still not operating at full capacity. I did not charge [redacted] for the time and labor spent during this time period as a courtesy.I informed [redacted] that the heat was still not functioning. [redacted] expressed that he wanted to heat to be fixed and wanted the heat to operate at full capacity. The vehicle's heat could not be repaired without replacing the heater core; so, I replaced the heater core. Upon completion of the repairs that included the replacement of the heater core, the vehicle's heat was working at full capacity. [redacted] came to pick up his vehicle and paid. During this transaction [redacted] paid $649 for: heater core replacement and an oil change, all of which he approved. The mileage of the vehicle was 76,802 miles at the time of release.A few days after he drove the vehicle, [redacted] called back saying that the repairs were too expensive. I offered him a full refund provided that we restore his vehicle to its original position, but he never came back.In [redacted]'s complaint he states that I "kept threatening to give [him] his money back." I did not threaten [redacted], but as stated above, I offered him a refund for the services rendered upon removal of the parts we replaced and restoration of the vehicle to its original state. I still stand by my offer of a full refund for the services rendered. The original parts from his vehicle are still available. We have been waiting for [redacted] to return so that I could honor our offer of giving him a full refund contingent upon returning the vehicle to its original state before the replace of the heater core.
