Halloween Express, Inc. of North Carolina

My costume was defective. I was NEVER told about the return/exchange policy by the store, hence, why I was not able to exchange my purchase.I went to the Halloween Express in Greenville, NC to search for a Halloween costume. I found a Lucille Ball costume, and was in a hurry because of errands, so I did not try it on. I asked the cashier while checking out what the refund policy was, and she said something about there being no refunds or exchanges, but that if I had an issue to see a manager and they could help me.Fast forward a month and a couple days, and I finally had a chance to air out my costume. The costume had two huge holes in it, with a tear on the apron, and and the seams starting to unravel. I called the store to explain the issue and said I had no idea what their policy was for damaged and defective costumes and was hoping they could help me. They said they couldn't do anything to help me because they had a two week exchange policy, they were sorry, and that was it. How was I supposed to know about this policy when it was never explicitly stated to me, I never saw one posted at the store, it was not on the receipt, and furthermore, I was told the opposite, that there was no policy, but that I would get help from a manager??? I have never heard of something so outrageous. The costume cost almost $50. I don't have that just to throw away.I had emailed the company itself online over a week ago, explaining this same issue, and NEVER heard back from them. Who conducts a business like this? I have a lot of experience in customer service and was taught from day one to take care of their customers. Nothing can be done, really?? I am not going to have this be my fault because it is NOT. It is a bad policy that employees are hiding behind. After purchasing a Halloween costume for full price, we opened it to find that it was riddled with holes. It appears used and in horrible condition.Purchase date was October 26, 2014. It is #[redacted] Robe. The purchase price was $34.99. Desired SettlementThis business has signs everywhere which state that there are no refunds or exchanges. The merchandise is in terrible shape. I would like to see them make this right or at the very least, do a better job monitoring what they have for sale. Inventory management and quality control are two things this facility lacks.
