Hamilton Ave Auto Sales Reviews (1)

Review: This place is a scam beginning to end. First they lie to you about the price of the car. Well let me say first I came in to see a specific car that was listed on their website. They told me that one had been sold but they amazingly had an identical one but it was priced at almost $1500 more then the website. Later when I went home I checked their website again and matched the VIN number... sure enough it was the same exact car. That was lie number one. They don't let you test drive the cars, the one I was looking at didn't even turn on. But they assured me that they fix ALL the problems the sales man kept repeating "We fix it up like new, it will work perfectly, no problems" then he continued to up the price on me, due to all the problems and continued to say, well we have to fix this and that so we really need to charge this price for the car. I should have left then, I don't know why I believed a word this guy said, but I really wanted this specific volvo that I had been looking for and they had it so I was worried I wouldn't find it again. If you read all the other reviews online you will see my story is almost identical to everyone elses story. I don't know how there are only 2 complaints against this company, I guess people just give up, because there are several bad reviews. To continue they then take you into the office and pressure you into signing the contract which nowhere does it say the total price on the contract that you sign first. So I thought I was buying the car for a certain price, then you have to put down a $1000 deposit to hold the car. AFTER I gave them the money for the deposit they then hand me a different contract that has the TOTAL amount on there, which was $1200 more then what they told me originally. Again, I heard the same story from others. I immediately asked for a refund, I had an uneasy feeling to begin with and this was the last straw for me. Then they tell me there's no refunds it's our policy. I guess any company can write down a policy and they have to abide by it as if it were the law. But, their policies are based on lies and deceit and specifically written to scam people out of their money. Obviously anyone who is going to this place doesn't have much money and to get scammed out of thousands of dollars makes you feel terrible.

THAT'S NOT EVEN THE WORST OF IT... IT GETS WORSE! I came to terms with over paying for the car, since I still felt like I got a good deal. But when I cam to pick up my car a couple weeks later, which was supposed to be "like new" thats where the real problems began. From first look at the car I could tell they hadn't touched it. It was dirty and definitely had not been cleaned and detailed like they had promised. Then I get into the car and drive it about 20 minutes and notice the dashboard lights and several other things aren't working. I mean if they had even turned the car on they would have seen the dashboard didn't work. I immediately brought the car back to them, but since it was Saturday they said "we don't do repairs on the weekend". Here is where I should mention they give you a 30 day warranty and tell you if you have any problems come back and they fix it for free. So I had to take a day off of work to come back and drop the car off for repairs. It took them several days to even tell me what the problem was and then they said they had to order parts. That took another 4 days. They fixed the dashboard lights so I can at least see that, but the sunroof and the back windshield wipers still don't work. They also love to tell you how the job that they did for you would have cost you thousands of dollars and your getting it for free. There is a general attitude and air about them as if you should be so lucky to get a car from them. Then I had the car back for a week or so, but hardly drove it except quick runs to the market. Then I drove it out to Brooklyn (I live in Manhattan) to run some errands. I parked the car at my first destination and when I came back out the car wouldn't start. I called them to help me and come fix the car but again it was Sunday so they said they technicians don't work and they couldn't send someone to me I had to get it there myself. Thankfully I have family that was nearby and they could give me a jump. I left the car there over night as I was too scared to drive it on the hwy and all the way back to Manhattan. The next day I took it to my trusted mechanic who told me a list of problems with the car. All very simple things to fix that they easily could have and SHOULD have done before they even gave it to me in the first place. The first was the battery they put in the car which is too small and not even the right battery for this car. That caused many other electrical issues with the car and of course the battery dying. Then he told me there was one vacuum hose that was totally broken and torn and had to be replaced and another that was half way coming off and not put on properly. This also caused a bunch of other issues with the engine, the starter, the way it was driving and it was making alot of noises it shouldn't have been. I didn't trust the Hamilton Auto guys to lay another hand on my car so I told my mechanic to go ahead and fix it all so I could feel safe driving my car on the highway. I then took that bill to the Hamilton Auto sales lot and asked them to reimburse me for these costs. Not surprisingly they refused and again gave me every excuse in the book as to why the car they gave me was perfectly good. Then the head guy [redacted] (he's the worst a [redacted]) "Well I bet you've already put hundreds of miles on this car" I'm sorry how is that relevant, a car is meant to be driven. Are you telling me I can only drive my car certain distances. Secondly I have only had this car in my possession for maybe about 10 days total with all the problems. Then it was stupid remark after stupid remark. They threatened to spray me with a hose and just kept repeating "Sue us then, sue us then!" They know nobody is going to go through all that trouble to sue them. And I'm sure I would get nothing out of it anyway since the law always seems to protect the scam artist and the liars and thieves and not the hard working honest people who were taken advantage of. They refused to give me any money for my repairs so I decided to hang around the front of the building and tell all their customers not to buy here. Well wouldn't you know every single person that walked into that place that day was not there to buy a car they were coming back with the same exact issues and complaints that I had. Clearly I am not the only one that feels taken advantage of here. Maybe you will hear from a few other angry people soon enough. Again, I can't believe this place only has two official complaints filed against them. They eventually called the cops on me and then I left. But they would rather call the cops on someone then please their customers like a normal person would do. This all might make me sound nuts but I am just a normal hard working middle class honest person who is sick of getting ripped off around every corner so I decided to try to do something about it for once. They should not be allowed to do business like this. How is any of this legal? They straight up knowingly lie to people then pressure you into putting $1000 down and will not give you your money back.Desired Settlement: I want at least what I paid for my own repairs to the car (thus far, I'm sure there'll be more later), about $450 if not more than that for all of my time lost, days taken off work, gas lost not only from driving there back and forth but also from the shotty repairs that caused the car to suck gas, and the mental anguish and stress they caused me. Not to mention the almost $2500 they over charged me from the original price they quoted.
