Complaint[redacted] received $6,467.35 of house ins. damage money. This is half of $13k ins. damage to the house per Amica Insurance. We need $3200 returned. My parents, [redacted] & [redacted] from 12 [redacted] had major damages to their house including flooding in the basement due to a few serious winter storms in late 2011 and 2012. My father has since died (11/11/11). I have been living with and taking care of my mother since she came home (3/4/10) from many months of ICUs and rehabs after being severely disabled from a fall down her cellar stairs in July of 2009. We had started the process to make the house handicap accessible for my mother. We contacted [redacted] to do the drawings of the addition and quote the job with a builder [redacted] did all the quoting of the insurance damage and repair work in addition to the interior work. We are adding a bedroom off the back of the house because the handicapped bathroom can only be re-located in the second bedroom of the house._____________1) [redacted] Contracting of Auburn.[redacted] wrote all the quotes for damages to the house, which were extensive. Webster Five Savings Bank still has over $6500 being held in escrow until we can finish the entire scope of damage. Our insurance agency is Amica. [redacted] received $6437 for HALF of the total insurance damage repair work to my mother's house from 2011. He only replaced the 1 car garage roof and the front roof of the house. He cannot finish the back roof of the house because we have been unable to get the construction going. The back roof can only be done when the new bedroom and major repairs to the existing dining room are completed. We all knew this from the start._____________2) As of today, [redacted] is still holding the balance that he owes us ($3200) from the insurance/bank money we paid him, but he never finished the work. He moved on to other jobs. I have asked him many, many times for the return of the money so we can have someone else finish the work, but he refuses to. He wants to re-roof the existing back roofs and be done. Since that is not a logical option because the new addition needs one complete back roof._____________3) [redacted] said there was only $1000 left from the 1st half of the insurance claim that he feels he owes my mother. There is still the addition to complete which includes the dining room. and a new larger bedroom. Additional dining room walls & ceiling damage, living room alcove repair with walls & ceiling damage and kitchen ceiling repair. We still have an entire new back roof that needs to be replaced, fixed and completed. One of the major reasons we became unsatisfied with [redacted] is that we also hired him to do the following work: 1) install a new tankless water heater, new 200 amp fuse box, install a new sump pump system with a battery back up. His work is less than stellar to say the least...._____________My mother is an ** year old disabled woman and we need to get the work done as soon as possible.[redacted] refused to complete other insurance damage work and still has our money. Can you help us out? XXX-XXX-XXXX. I will be talking to Elder Affairs and the VA as well._____________I will be happy to work with you to be able to finish my mother's house so she can be safe. I can give you whatever else you need to finish. From [redacted] & [redacted]Cell XXX-XXX-XXXX * Home XXX-XXX-XXXXDesired SettlementAll we are looking for is the return of $3200 of the money [redacted] received from us and the Webster Five bank for unfinished work he was paid for. His quote to the insurance company and bank for the work and the time in which he started should be honored and the balance of that number is $3200. [redacted] did replace the 1 car garage roof and the front roof of the house. This represents less than half of the $6,467.35 of the insurance monies he received for half of the over $12k damage to the house. [redacted] refused to do other parts of the insurance repair work that we requested. Now we have additional damage to the inside of the house and front alcove of the living room.
