Review: My husband booked a weekend stay at this hotel for my 30th birthday a few weeks before my birthday. He wanted to take me somewhere nice for a special weekend. July 18 - 21st 2014.On July 11th my 12 year old Husky got horribly ill and couldn't even stand up. We went to the vet and after x-rays, blood work and a ultra sound found out she had a tumor on her heart. We went home on July 11th with our sick dog and promptly cancelled the dog sitter & cancelled the hotel over the phone. The woman on the phone told my husband he didn't need to do anything else, he was a little upset about the dog and didn't happen to get the woman's name. He was assured we would not be charged for the stay. He was told he didn't need to do anything else. The woman did not give him a cancellation number.We spent the week taking special care of our furry family member and unfortunately lost her on my birthday, the 19th. On the morning of the 21st I went online to my credit card to see about paying some of the vet charges and was surprised to see that Hampton Inn still charged me for my stay. We thought it was just a mix up and called the hotel. After talking to a rude Kara we spoke with an even more rude manager who assured us we would have gotten a cancellation confirmation number because his staff is very small and always gives out the confirmation number. He told us we did not call to cancel and that the call is over and hung us on us.I called my credit card who then called the hotel and the hotel still is insisting that we did not cancel our stay and will not remove the charge. He said they are so busy they can not remember all the calls which is why we need a cancellation number. Unfortunately, they did not give us a cancellation number. Thanks to the Hampton Inn for making one of the worst weeks of my life even worse.Desired Settlement: Refund for the unauthorized credit card charges of $209.85
