As stated in the complain The vechicle was brought in by the husband and the vechicle failed its smog test due to the obd drive cycle monitors Which we as technicians have no control over we dont find out till the complete smog test has been completed to know if the vechile passes or fails its test its always in our best intrerest that the vechicle passes because we do offer a FREE RETEST if a vechicle fails its test on this incident the vechicle failed its obd drive cycle test and the custommer did not want to understand that and wanted to accuse the tech of failing the vechicle when it has nothing to do with the tech then after the custommer left the shop they stopped into [redacted] and was adviced to drive the vechicle to see if the obd monitor would set Which it did since they drove the vechicle they could have brought it back to the shop and got a free retest But they choose to go to another shop and have it smogged So I dont see what we did wrong or are being accused of We only do the teat according to specification for the vechicle and pass on the results to the custommer same as taking a driveing test and failing the test and blameing the attendant that handed you the test that its there fault you failed

I am rejecting this response because: They did not address my legitimate complaintThey failed a vehicle and tried to charge for work that did not need to be performed.First, I need to state for the record that I am not sure if they are responding to the correct complaint. It looks like a blanket response and did not address my complaintI would appreciate a response to the actions they are being accused of. With that being said, I am only going to reiterate the facts of my complaint while addressing this responseI will just stick to the facts. ““My” vehicle failed a smog test at respondent’s place of business due to OBDII not readyWhich means, computer was reset. Either by a technician or by disconnecting the battery. Due to the quickness of the test, I would lean towards the technician since it takes some time to disconnect the battery. Or, could be the test results of a different car. Possibly the car before mine. Only one that can confirm either cause is the technician, not the OBD computer. If, in fact my computer was not ready, it would have failed at *** *** because the car needed a drive cycle to make computer ready. This is where this story gets interesting. All sites on-line and seasoned Mechanic’s stated that a *** Taurus can only be driven a specific way before the system will return to readyThis is call a drive cycleThere is a specific “drive cycle” determined by *** which includes driving vehicle at freeway speeds to set computer to ready. I have copy of procedures if needed to confirm. My car was driven a total of miles in minutes between smog tests. That time included *** arguing with me with the findings and demanding cash payment for $instead of the coupon price $19.99, trying to get the keys to my car that he was holding ransom, the drive time to ***, renting the scanner, scanning my car’s computer, and driving to a legit smog testing shop *** *** and waiting for my turn in line. For the record, driving distance from Smogtech to *** (miles) and from *** to *** *** (miles). Not enough miles or idle/acceleration time to reset the computer on a *** Taurus. The shop reply also stated that it’s always in their best interest that the vehicle passes because they offer a free retestNot trueHere is a quote from their coupon “FREE RETEST with all repair”What is actually in their best interest is to charge unsuspecting customers to pay the $to find out why the computer is not ready, the cost to make the computer ready, then they will retest freeI can only imagine what they would have charged me for work that did not need to be done. In conclusion, the reply did not address the facts of my complaint. This company is involved in illegal activitiesThey are failing cars that would normally pass, and charging to fix something that doesn’t need fixingThey make at least $profit by doing thisI can only imagine how many other unsuspecting people they use these tactics on? They are also committing mail fraud when they don’t honor the face value of the coupon that is sent to potential Customers via USPS. SHAME on them!! I added as attachments *** reviews and also the *** Drive Cycle Information document for your review

As stated in the complain . The vechicle was brought in by the husband and the vechicle failed its smog test due to the obd 2 drive cycle monitors . Which we as technicians have no control over ... we dont find out till the complete smog test has been completed to know if the vechile passes or...

fails its test ... its always in our best intrerest that the vechicle passes because we do offer a FREE RETEST if a vechicle fails its test ... on this incident the vechicle failed its obd 2 drive cycle test ... and the custommer did not want to understand that ... and wanted to accuse the tech of failing the vechicle .. when it has nothing to do with the tech . .... then after the custommer left the shop they stopped into [redacted] and was adviced to drive the vechicle to see if the obd 2 monitor would set . Which it did since they drove the vechicle .. they could have brought it back to the shop and got  a free retest . But they choose to go to another shop and have it smogged . So I dont see what we did wrong or are being accused of . We only do the teat according to specification for the vechicle and pass on the results to the custommer ... same as taking a driveing test and failing the test and blameing the attendant that handed you the test that its there fault you failed .
