NineStar Connect modified the packages offered in January and need to move current customers to these new packages by February We appreciate our customers valued business but understand that each household is different and may not require the advanced internet speed packages we are offering on our fiber network We included a landline in these packages in the interest of safety for our customers We also provide an hour UPS backup to ensure that this landline will work during an electrical outage NineSar Connect is in a very competitive market and it continues to provide customers with quality service, local 24/7/support, along with giving back to the communities we serve We encourage our customers to compare pricing/services with other local providers as we also continue to compare our pricing/services against others Thank you, Kim G [redacted] Administration & Compliance Manager

For the purposes of its reply, NineStar Connect would convey the following:
NineStar Connect is a participant in the FCC NECA Tariffs. In the FCC NECA Tariffs for broadband only service were substantially increased. The FCC NECA Tariff paid by NineStar Connect for the service Mr*** was receiving was raised to $208.56/month. NineStar Connect charged the customer $for the service, which means the company was losing $167.61/month for broadband only customers such as Mr***.
Given the fact that NineStar was faced with raising the customer charge for the 5/Meg broadband only package to over $200.00, NineStar discontinued offering broadband only services effective January
Also due to the FCC NECA Tariffs, NineStar discontinued all asynchronous broadband services less than Meg in its fiber optic territory effective January 2016. This change was done to keep the broadband affordable to NineStar’s customers as the FCC NECA Tariff for the synchronous Meg broadband service with a free safety phone line is at a subsequently reduced cost to NineStar.
NineStar has made an allowance to customers such as Mr*** and they will continue to pay the $until July (even though they are currently receiving additional download and upload speeds)
Mr*** is not being forced to the landline service, it is being delivered to the side of his house at the demarcation point - whether he chooses to utilize the free additional service is entirely up to him
There are no lower priced packages available for broadband services from NineStar. The free landline service is now part of the broadband packages NineStar offers to all customers
Mr*** is free to choose a competitor broadband service and discontinue service with NineStar without penalty

NineStar Connect modified the packages offered in January 2015 and need to move current customers to these new packages by February 2016.  We appreciate our customers valued business but...

understand that each household is different and may not require the advanced internet speed packages we are offering on our fiber network.  We included a landline in these packages in the interest of safety for our customers.  We also provide an 8 hour UPS backup to ensure that this landline will work during an electrical outage.
NineSar Connect is in a very competitive market and it continues to provide customers with quality service, local 24/7/365 support, along with giving back to the communities we serve.  We encourage our customers to compare pricing/services with other local providers as we also continue to compare our pricing/services against others.
Thank you,

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The changes are not across the board.
The only people getting the new internet upgrades are those who dropped the landline service.
This internet upgrade and safety line is not forced upon my neighbors who did not drop the landline service.
This is not something I want and want the internet service I had before this forced upgrade was imposed, like my neighbors have at the same price.
The forced safety line was not requested nor needed due to the fact that it is paid for with my cell service.
This is called cramming and the attorney general will be happy to hear about this.
