Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 7, 2015/11/12) */
We have come to an arrangement so this complaint can be closed

We've discussed the issue with the customer several times, apologized and discounted the labor by over $for a sink with several pre-existing leaksWe felt this was more than enough to cover the cost of the plumbing billThe customer was also invoiced at time of serviceThe invoice was
received at the household at time of service, and was signed stating that the work was completed satisfactorily and the customer agreed to pay the full amountWhen we contacted the customer again about the bill, the customer acknowledged the invoice and thought it was net payment termsWhen we told the customer it was not netand in fact due upon receipt, the customer declined payment thenApproaching days after service and materials were provided to the customer, we tried again but were unsuccessful at collecting paymentIt was at this time we believed the customer had no intention of paying for materials and labor so we passed the customer on to collectionsAlso there is no discount for not posting on social media, or "hush money" that is not an offer that the law office was authorized to makeHowever, this will be brought to the attorney's attention as they value their reputation as wellIf there is an issue I'm sure the law office will contact the customer

Absolutely not.
And the total scope was estimated at $1090 + materials. How can she even think that $767.45 is somehow discounted over a $1000? Nothing in their response is factual or makes sense.
[redacted] and I have never spoken. I'm unclear if we've even communicated via email. All of my correspondence has been with [redacted], the office mgr and 3 handymen: [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted]. I can turn over my call records--I only have a cell phone. I don't have any attempted calls from Handyman Matters after I contacted them Oct 20th. I also don't have any emails. [redacted] called on the 20th to know when he come by and get his tools which he left for god-knows-why in our place. So, no, [redacted] has never apologized or discussed this with me. [redacted], their office mgr, told me I'd have to take it up with their attorneys.
I had given Handyman Matters a list of the open items on Oct 16th and 19th, which they were asked to fix and I wanted to know when [redacted] could come back and finish them. Then [redacted] stops by on Tuesday Oct 20th to retrieve his belongings and while here he leaves an invoice which was not itemized or connected to the estimates they gave me. So I asked Handyman Matters to clarify what they were charging me for and when they would return to fix their work. The only thing I heard back was from [redacted] suggesting I call a plumber since their workmen likely couldn't handle it. I never got an apology from them and I never got any type of call. They didn't address the strange amounts their incompetent handyman, [redacted] came up with. If [redacted] or [redacted] provided the numbers in the invoice it would have an air of credibility but not [redacted]'s. The next I heard was from their attorney. ** apologized for [redacted]'s poor customer service--that you don't turn a customer over to collections vs call them back and attempt to resolve things over the phone. They unbelievably handled this.
Furthermore I own the property. I got it inspected this summer before purchasing it by [redacted]. There was no leak in the bathroom. The inspector and I can both attest to that--yes it's an older property but it wasn't leaking since I've lived here and it wasn't leaking when [redacted] did the walk thru or prior to [redacted] coming out. If [redacted] thought it was fragile and didn't want to go near it to replace the P-traps then he certainly should have voiced that concern prior to doing any work. And [redacted] admitted to me that he caused it when I got home on the night of the 15th. He was in our apt trying to braze the pipe fitting in situ. He apologized for causing it. [redacted] can try to rewrite history and claim it was pre-existing. She's never been here in the apt. She can also claim she's an emperor with just as much credibility.
I contacted Handyman Matters, walked them through the scope and subsequently hired them. The fact that they think a woman in my house who let [redacted] in per my instructions only to get his stuff was my representative and authorized to sign a document for me is unbelievable. I never signed a paper saying the work was remotely complete and also satisfactorily done. Are you kidding? I sent them a list of open items--not to my satisfaction--the night before. I had a water leak they created days before, which was still waiting for a plumber to come fix. Who could call that a job done? They didn't fix the drain overflows, the pop up assemblies... [redacted] apparently wanted my nanny to pay for the work performed but she thankfully declined and said she couldn't, which is why no payment was rendered at the time of service. I was never withholding payment; I was waiting for them to call back and finish the work.

I've worked in the construction industry for over 20 yrs and have never seen anything quite so bush league.
