Handyman NYC

Review: I called this Handyman service last week and scheduled a time for one of their employees to come out to my Midtown apartment in order to hang a large mirror on our wall. The scheduled time was Wednesday, July [redacted] in the evening. Before I left the apartment for a dinner meeting, I left my two roommates with $100 cash, as I was told the estimate for hanging the mirror would be between $75 to $100. When I returned, the mirror was not hung and my roommates had paid the man over $80. When I asked what happened, they said that when he came, he told them that he would not be able to hang the mirror on the wall because the wall did not have enough support as it was a recently erected partition wall. He left after no more than 15 minuets and insisted my roommates give him over $80 for his "service" telling them that since he did not actually do any work, we could call the following week to schedule another time for him to hang anything else we needed hung for the amount of money we paid. He even left my roommates with his business card and told them to call next week. First of all, I was furious that my roommates had even given him $80 to begin with because he did not deserve $80 for nothing. They should have given him $20 for his trouble. Anyway, I decided I would call and have him hang a few things around the apartment so I wasn't out $80 for no reason. So I called Wednesday, July ** in the morning and left a message on the company's voicemail explaining what had happened and asked them to call me back. A man named [redacted] eventually called me back and said that he would have to talk with someone about the issue and then call me back. He never called so I called him later that evening and he said he had not had the time to talk with whomever he needed to speak with and that he would call me back. Once again, he never called back, so I called him this morning, Thursday, July [redacted], around 11 am and asked him again to send someone over to hang up a few things so I could at least get my money's worth like I had been promised. He proceeded to tell me that I could not get any "free service." I told him what I have explain above and that I was told I would get my $80 worth of work. He said it costs $80 just for them to come over there. RIDICULUS! $80 just to show up? That's absurd, I told him. Eventually, he just abruptly hung up on me.Desired Settlement: More than anything, I just want it to been known that this is an irreputable company, and that future clients should be weary of using the company for their handyman needs. I would love at least $60 refunded to me as well as some sort of apology for the misconduct of the company, if possible.

Review: I contacted nyhandymannyc to replace shelves in my kitchen cabinets. [redacted] came to my home took the five shelves and said it would be about $480.00 to fix them. I told him to send me a written estimate he never did. I called the next day to say I wanted new shelves and to send me an estimate he never did. [redacted] called over the weekend to say the shelves were ready and the cost would be $855 plus tax I told him I never ordered shelves at that price. On Monday July [redacted] when I refused the shelves over the phone he said he was going to put a lien on my property.Desired Settlement: Want to make certain he does not place a lien on my property. This sounds like a scam and blackmail to me.
