Haney's Glass of Auburn Reviews (%countItem)

BEWARE: Poor service/hiding a chip - Our son contacted Haney's Glass in Auburn to purchase a piece of tempered glass for our tabletop (as a gift to us for Christmas). The measurements were provided and he did pay $ ahead of time. We were able to pick up the glass early this week. When it was picked up there were no visible scratches or chips but all of the corners had red foam squares on them top and bottom. Haney's people were in a hurry because it was the end of their work day to get us out of there. When the glass was home and in place the red foam squares were removed and upon removing them a quarter inch chip in one of the corners was discovered and pictures taken.
Of course, it was too late to reach out as the office had closed for the day but we did reach out the very next morning about the issue including the pictures. We received an email from Scott *** who stated, "I personally looked over your glass before I gave it to you yesterday and it was free from any chips when it left here. We can reorder you a new one at a discounted price if you would like and deliver it/install it at an additional cost. I would also discount your delivery fee if you wanted us to deliver. I'm sorry for your misfortune of the glass. But glass is very touchy."
We were not able to remove the foam squares at their shop because they were ushering us out so quickly but we feel that the red foam squares covered a chip that was already there and not something we caused. I spoke with Scott earlier today regarding his email and he simply reiterated that he felt it was our fault, not his even though the red foam squares covered a chip and that it was being hidden from us and now this business wants more money to replace something that I feel confident was already there before we got it.
I will never do business with them again and I do not recommend others to do so either. This was a very bad experience because now we will have to buy yet another piece of glass as this one is compromised. Poor business practice all around.

Haney’s Glass of Auburn, Inc. receives some of our customized orders through a glass vendor. When our business receives shipment from the glass vendor, the business owner personally inspects each piece of glass to ensure it arrives damage free. Each piece also comes pre-tagged with red, square, sticky foam pads on one side of it. It is able to be inspected upon arrival, from the opposite side, without an employee removing the pads. Those pads remain in tack until removed by the customer themselves. These pads help to prevent scratches, breakage, etc. between other glass units.
The customer's father called and said he would be by the shop to pick up the previously ordered item by his son. The time that he could arrive to our business, was to be close to the 5:00pm closing time so our secretary assured him that she would stay later and be there, even if it was after closing time, for him to pick up the purchased item. We strive to accommodate our customers in any way reasonably.
Before the order was picked up, the business owner reinspected the piece, not uncommon for him to do with each item again prior to it leaving the shop. Upon arriving, the father went back outside to lower his truck's tailgate while Scott, the business owner, prepared to help him carry the item out to his truck. Due to the large size of the piece of glass (38 3/8” x 74 ½” x ¼” clear plate glass), Scott was surprised that it fit, barely, into the bed of the truck and placed onto a piece of foam. The customer then had to travel 20+ miles to his destination. Unfortunately, many things can happen to a piece of glass when it is not properly secured for transportation. Our business policy is the same for each customer, once the purchased item(s) has left the building Haney’s Glass of Auburn, Inc. is no longer responsible for any damage to the item(s).
Once notified about the issue with the order, Scott and the customer spoke several times via phone and email. Haney’s Glass of Auburn, Inc. is confident that the piece was not damaged prior to leaving the business door. Scott has offered and stands by his offer of replacing the order at a discounted price. Delivery has also been offered at a discounted price. While it is unfortunate that this item is damaged, we do understand that accidents do happen; therefore, offering the discounted prices that have been discussed. Haney’s Glass of Auburn, Inc. strives to please each and every customer whom we come in contact with.

As stated in this description the red foam squares were adhered to the corners of the glass which we believe the chip was present before we picked it up and this vendor just wanted it gone by hiding the chip so he did not have to take responsibility.
Mr. Haney never shared what his "discount" would be at anytime. When he stated there were multiple phone calls and emails. There were two phone calls and two emails. I would not believe that to be excessive to resolve an issue.
*** We are too and very disappointed in this business.
