Hello,
This is [redacted], the account executive for the Central U.S. region and the person that [redacted] had originally spoken with.
[redacted]'s request was to purchase 5 motors from Hankscraft for his clock motor. This would be our Model F motor which is a dated motor that we rarely...

have call to make anymore. The motor had been used for previous projects for clocks and also for other collector display signs that we had provided for years ago. [redacted] had spoken to me while I was on the road on business, and my assumption was that we could find enough parts to make up 5 motors for him and we could do him a favor and get those out. Hankscrafts minimum dollar amount of an order for any parts is $250.00.
We are in the Point of Purchase industry and our normal quantities for motors or LEDs or LCD screens for in store use is normally in the thousands. Every once in a while we get calls from collectors like [redacted] who want to purchase or replace older clock motors which we used to make. [redacted] did send his motor in, with a check for $250.00 and we did replace it with one. What was obviously miscommunicated to [redacted] by my assistant was that we only had parts enough for one motor and not five. We would have to have ordered up an MOQ of probably 1,000 pieces or more, to even have some of the parts for the motor made again. The model F motor is rarely made anymore and we do not stock all of the parts for motors that are not in demand.
We apologize for the miscommunication and will gladly refund [redacted] $200.00 of the $250.00 that he had sent us after we sent him the only motor we could make with the parts on hand.
We try our best to help out collectors and craft people with some of our older motors, but the demand is so low, we just can't meet all of their requests all the time.
Again we apologize and will gladly refund [redacted] the $200.00.
Please let me know if there is anything else we can do to help.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: I contacted [redacted] to purchase replacement clock motor for a Model G motor.

I was advised by mr. [redacted] that they have a minimum order of $250 to build these motors as they do not stock them but custom make them.

Mr. [redacted]'s letter stated that I would receive FIVE of these clock motors for the $ 250.

I needed to return my old clock motor for a sample.

I agreed and sent my clock motor and $ 250.

A few weeks later, I received ONE clock motor.

I contacted Hankscraft about the whereabouts of the other 4 clock motors. Mr [redacted]'s assistant informed me that they were only going to produce one clock motor.

She further indicated I would need to purchase over a thousand dollars worth to get any more of these clock motors. She stated that these clock motors are very labor intensive and for $ 250, they'd only produce one.

I wrote Mr [redacted] again and requested that I at least receive one more motor (as a spare) but he has not responded whatsoever, nor has his assistant.

I pointed out that had I known they would only provide one motor for the cost of $ 250, I would not have ordered the motor. They quoted FIVE motors.

This is from the correspondence from [redacted]:

Hi [redacted],

Thanks for the email. [redacted] has retired and is no longer with the company. Our minimum order is now $250.00 and we would most like be able to get 5 of the motors made for you for that price.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: My first choice would be to receive the remaining four motors (for a total of five) as promised in Mr [redacted]'s quotation letter to me.
